About the Penny Postcard Archives

Why "Penny Postcards"?

These postcards cost 1¢ to mail. Postage was temporarily raised to 2¢ from 1917 to 1919 to cover the cost of World War I & from 2925 to 1928 (not sure the reason for the latter).

Are They For Sale?

All of the cards shown on this site are in the hands of private collectors. They are shown for your enjoyment. None are for sale. You can find many old postcards available for sale elsewhere on the Internet.

Links to Other Postcard sites

Web sites come and go. This site does not link to other sites. It is too hard to maintain a list of links.
