Abingdon Episcopal Church

Built circa 1755. It is built in a cross-shaped plan with superb brickwork.

Bellamy United Methodist Church

Founded in 1795, the one shown was built in 1833 and remodeled in 1998.

Cappahosic House

Circa 1712, it has clipped gables and inside chimneys with eight unique corner fireplaces.

Gloucester Courthouse

This 18th century courthouse is one of the most architecturally sophisticated of Virginia's important colonial courthouses.

Gloucester Jail

Erected in 1873 as a prison after the earlier prison on the same site was burned by Federal troops during the War Between the States. This two story structure has hardy brick walls relieved by well proportioned brick pilasters and other features. The small wings were later additions.

Roane Building

Built in 1896 and named for Basil Bernard Roane, a native son, who served as deputy clerk and clerk of the Circuit Court for 59 years. The one story brick building features maximum security with iron gratings, heavy metal doors and is a sturdy and strongly built example of a public building of the late 19th century. It is part of the Gloucester Courthouse Historic District.

Rosewell

Begun in 1725, the huge brick Rosewell mansion overlooking the York River was one of the finest in Virginia. Through much of the 18th century and 19th centuries, and during the American Civil War, Rosewell Mansion hosted the area's most elaborate formal balls and celebrations. The Rosewell Mansion was destroyed by fire in 1916, and today is a largely undisturbed historic ruin.

Zion Poplars Church

Listed on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places, it was built in 1894. The Gothic Revival church is home to one of the oldest independent African-American congregations.
