Mitchells Presbyterian Church

This Gothic Revival church, built in 1879, contains an elaborate example of trompe-l'oeil fresco painting done in 1888. Joseph Dominick Phillip Oddenino, an Italian immigrant artist, painted to deceive the eye into believing that his plaster murals were three dimensional.

Photographed 21 Apr 2009 and Contributed by George Seitz.

Winston Family Chapel

Winston Family Chapel was built by the patriarch of the Winston Family in 1908. Local lore tells that the Winston family was at odds with another prominent family in the area and would not attend the same church. All the stones in the small cemetery are Winston. The brownstone church has not been used in many years.

Photographed 6 September 2014 and Contributed by George Seitz.
