Volume 1 Actual Records

Please read the following before looking for a
Probate Court Birth Record 1881-1884 Volume 5

In looking for names, please check ALL columns on the original record. (Example, birth name, father’s column and mother’s column.

In doing the indexing for these records I have put in second and possible third spellings of a surname because it was difficult to read and also because the father’s surname in that column might have been spelled differently. The purpose is to get you back to the record.

Sometimes the birth name is actually the mother’s maiden name, so I put in notations for that: example:
Smith, Baby
Smith, MMN Anna
Unknown Male MMN Anna Smith

Sometimes the father’s surname in that column was not the birth record surname so I put in notations for that: example:
Smith, Baby
Smith, MMN Anna
Unknown Male Father John Doe

ADOPTION

There were a few records that mentioned adoption.

Davis, Barbara Mary was adopted by E.H. Davis - Page 267
Jacob, Arthur J. adopted by John P. Jacob - Page 269
Walker, H.J. adopted by J.C. and Mary Walker. Birth parents were Nelson Winchester and Netti M. West - Page 2

Please note that sometimes the original indexer missed completely the information for the parents column and sometimes they are also out of order.
