Hopewell School
Eastern Union Parish Louisiana
Hopewell School was located about six or seven miles east of Farmerville, just off Ward's Chapel Road.
It was located on the northeast side of the intersection of Ward's Chapel Road (Louisiana
State Highway #828) and Hopewell Road (Union Parish Road #7763). We do not know when the school first
opened, but it was in existence during the early 1900s. My grandparents attended school there in the 1920s,
and my father went to first, second, and third grade there, 1940 – 1943. The school was disbanded by
1944 and afterwards, the local (white) children attended school in Farmerville.
