Allen Parish
was created on June 12, 1912, from Calcasieu Parish and the parish was named in honor of Henry Watkins Allen, the Confederate governor of Louisiana. The Parish seat is Oberlin. .It is borderd by Vernon Parish (northwest), Rapides Parish (northeast), Evangeline Parish (east), Jefferson Davis Parish (south), Beauregard Parish (west).
