Morgan County was formed in 1822 from Bath and Floyd Counties. Parts of Elliott, Johnson, Magoffin, Menifee, Rowan and Wolfe Counties were created from Morgan County. Morgan County is bordered by Elliott, Johnson, Lawrence, Magoffin, Menifee, and Rowan Counties.
