EMAIL: DATE: Thurs 2 Dec 1915 SOURCE: V.W., Leopolis News , Page 56 STEINKE, Daniel died on 20 November after a short illness of only two weeks at the age of 87 years 3 months and 5 days. The deceased was born on 15 September 1828 in Volka, Poland and then came to Germany, settling on some property there. He married Pauline Schultz in 1864 and enjoyed a long, happy marriage together. This couple celebrated their golden wedding in 1914. Their marriage was blessed with fourteen children of which nine are still living. In 1889 the deceased came with his family to America and settled in Clintonville. Then in 1890 they moved on a farm near Leopolis. After a number of years they moved to the village of Leopolis. Old age was the cause of the death of this elderly German man. Besides his sorrowing wife he leaves one son and five daughters, Emil, Otto and Gustav in Leopolis, Paul in Idaho, Mrs. Fred Gensler in Bear Creek, Mars John Gutchow and Mrs Wm. Zwieg in Mayville, Mrs. Rudolph Gutchow in Pella nad Mrs G. Kucksdorf in Leopolis. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the house and at 2:30 in St Johns Ev. Luth. Church, where he was a faithful and enthusiastic member. Pastor Kraft from Marion officiated.
