MRS. MARY MARTEN DIES EARLY TODAY

Mrs. Mary Marten, 89, died early today at a local Nursing Home. She had resided in Shawano for the past 14 years after moving from Mattoon. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, Aug. 15, at St. John's Lutheran church at Mattoon. Interment will be in the Woodlawn cemetery at Mattoon.

The former Mary Jesse was born March 5, 1876 in the township of Pella and was married to Charles Marten on Dec. 26, 1899 at Pella. They moved to a farm in the Mattoon area following their marriage. Mr. Marten preceded her in death in 1938.
Survivors include three sons, Alex Marten of Shawano; Charles and Edward of Mattoon, and a daughter, Olga, Mrs. Fred Rusch, Shawano. A son, Clarence, and a daughter, Mrs. Louise Weisnicht, also preceded her in death. Other survivors include 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two brothers, and a sister. They include August Jesse, Cal; Gustave, Clintonville, and Mrs. Louise Palmquist, Shawano.

MRS. PAUL BARTELT FUNERAL HELD TODAY 

Funeral services for Mrs. Paul Bartelt Rt. 1, Gresham, were held today at Zion Lutheran church at Gresham. Interment was in the Elias Lutheran cemetery town of Herman. Mrs. Bartelt. 68. died early Saturday morning at her home following a long illness. She was the former Antonia Kreuger of the town of Pella. 

Mrs. Bartelt was born Sept. 29. 1897 in the town of Pella the daughter of the late August Kreuger. She was married to Paul Bartelt on Feb. 6. 1921 at Embarrass and they moved to their present farm home in the town of Herman Where they still reside. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran church and Ladies Aid of Gresham. 

Survivors include her husband, a son. Leroy Bartelt, at home, a daughter, Arlene. Mrs. Victor Knaack Rt. 1, Marion. 8 grandchildren and her step-mother. Mrs. August Kreuger of Gresham. Three brothers and four sisters also survive. 

They include Arnold and Bernard Kreuger. Clintonville; John, Belle Plaine; Mrs. Emma Piotroske, Milwaukee ; Clara. Mrs. Arthur Schlender, Marion; Anna. Mrs. Lester Schoeneck, Pella. and Mabel, Mrs. Charles Dewey. Mukwonago. A sister, Mrs. Lillian Moede also preceded her in death.

EARL MALUEG, 58 RURAL GRESHAM DIES TUESDAY

Earl Malueg, 58, of Rt. 1, Gresham, died at 7:30 Tuesday evening, Dec. 21, at his home. He had been ill for the past 2 months, Mr. Malueg was born August 9, 1907 in Caroline and was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. August Malueg, He was married to the former Arlean Flauger. The couple lived in Birnamwood for 9 years, coming to the town of Seneca in 1949 where they had lived since, Mr. Malueg was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife and children, Evon, Mrs. Ivan Heins, of Rt. 1, Gresham; Cal Cerveny, Tilleda; Marjorie. Mrs. Robert Ready, Rt.3 Shawano and Ronnie and Tom at home. One daughter preceded him in death. Also surviving are 5 grand­children, 2 brothers, Ferdinand of Caroline and Harvey of Rt. 1, Gresham and a sister, Esther, Mrs. Clarence Wuske, of Tigerton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 PM on Friday at the Gaffney Funeral Home, Gresham.  Interment will be in Elias Lutheran cemetery, town of Herman.
