GONE TO HER LAST HOME

Miss Mary Ellen McLeod passed away peacefully on the evening of July 12, 1901.

Mary was a native of Shawano and spent the most of her life here with her sister Deborah; they were left orphans while very young. Mary was a graduate of our high school, a member of the Presbyterian church and lived a consistent, uncompromising Christian life and possessed a beautiful character. She was a zealous worker in the Christian Endeavor, a faithful attendant of the Sabbath school and was in sympathy with all temperance work. Mary, with her sister Deborah, spent the last seven years in Massachusetts. In the last year of Mary's life consumption rapidly developed, and her great desire was to return to Shawano and be laid to rest with her parents. The last two months were spent with her Shawano friends.

Her funeral was held on Sunday afternoon, Rev, Cutler officiating. The many beautiful floral tributes that adorned her casket must testify how tenderly she was loved. Her school mate. Miss Anna Naber, sang a beautiful and appropriate solo. Mrs. D. E. Wescott, Mrs. L. D. Roberts, Miss Anna Naber and Messrs, 0. 0. Wiegand and E. J. Sprague, comforted the hearts with songs of hope and consolation.
