He was a Private during the war, later achieving the rank (or title) of Colonel. Owner of the Richmond Whig. Member of Virginia Senate, Ruling Elder in Maysville Presbyterian Church. Son of William Bondurant who built "Variety Shade" in 1798. Col Thomas Mosely Bondurant was a large exporter of tobacco and travelled extensively abroad, on which trips he would bring back a variety of trees, hence the name "Variety Shade."
