Charles Hillory Branton was born Jan 1, 1866 in Louisiana and married Maggie Burris Cash Jan 19, 1888. Maggie Cash was the daughter of Ruben Cash and Mary Jane Jackson, born in Illinois on Aug 5, 1866. Ruben and Mary Jane also had a son Clarence McClellan Cash born in White County Tennessee in 1864.Clarence and Maggie were orphaned about 1871 and lived with relatives in Tuscola, Illinois. Clarence and Maggie came to Texas in 1884 from Tuscola, Illinois. Twins--Charles Hillory Branton Jr. and Maggie Burris Branton (I guess you could say Jr.) were born to Charley and Maggie on Sept. 12, 1897 in Cameron, Milam County, Texas. They moved from Milam County to "old" Tuscola, west of present day Tuscola, in 1900. Lillian M. Branton (better known as Babe to everyone) was born on Aug 16, 1900. The second set of twins Cyrus Allen Branton and Allene Branton were born about 1902. Charley retired from farming in 1911 and moved the family to "new" Tuscola in 1911.They lived in the 200 block of Brown Street in a one story frame house. As of 2002 the house was still standing. Charley worked for the Post Office in Tuscola until his death Feb 5, 1934. He was taking the mail from the Post Office to the Santa Fe Depot in a two wheeled cart on the day he died. He is buried in the family plot in the Tuscola Cemetery. Maggie died in 1940 and is buried beside Charley in the family plot.

Lillian (Babe) married William B May. Bill was a life long employee of the West Texas Utility. They had one son Billy Jack May who had a lengthy career in the military and retired as a full colonel. He died about 1998 and is buried at Ft. Sam Houston. Bill died in 1954 and Babe in 1997. Both are buried in Ballinger, Texas cemetery. Allen (Cy) married Carmille (Tom) Vaughan. They had no children. Allene married Max Anderson and they had one son Max Jr. Allene later married Ted Clark but had no children. Maggie's marriage to Roy S. Reynolds is covered in the REYNOLDS FAMILY biography. Maggie's twin brother Charles H. Branton Jr and his wife Myrtle had four daughters: Charlia Faye, Jane, Merle, and Bobbie. Charley later married Alleyne King and they had a daughter Charlene. Charley was the soldier's soldier. He fought in France during World War I. He reenlisted during World War II and fought as a Merrell's Marauder in the China Burma India campaign. His third time to fight was during the Korean War. Charley died in August 1978 and is buried in the Elmwood Cemetery (?) in Abilene. Maggie (Cash) Branton's brother Clarence M Cash came to Tuscola in 1898 his Biography is covered under the CASH FAMILY story.
