I have found that Mary Margaret BANKS, my great grandmother, was born in unknown county of Kentucky in 1842. I do not know the names of her parents, if she had siblings or where, besides Kentucky, the family came from. It is thought that both parents may have been born in Kentucky also, but this is just theory. There were many Banks families in Limestone county in the 1800's and odds are that one of these Banks families will prove to be Mary's parents. I think the Rasco and Banks connection might be a likely prospect. H. P. Banks, born 1812 and Nancy R. Banks, born unknown, are both buried at Cobb Cemetery in Limestgone county. Does the "R" in Nancy's name refer to Rasco? Are these two people kin to Mary Margaret? Mary M. married Reuben Manning in 1855 and except for a period of time in Pickens Co., Alabama, she and Reuben lived and raised their family between Teague and Mexia, probably coming to Texas sometime after 1865. I understand the Limestone county courthouse burned in the mid to late 1800's and I assume all records were destroyed. If true, can anyone tell me how to search for marriage, death, and land records from abt. 1850-1920? If anyone can help identify my gg gparents, please contact.
