He left Limestone about 1902 for Rusk and came back to either Limestone or Freestone where he died in 1908. I really need the information from his obituary or death certificate. This marriage probably took place in either Limestone, Freestone or Falls Co, Tx. David came to Tx abt. 1850-1851 and was said to have first settled in Freestone County. Later he was said to have moved to Falls County, Tx. He bought 1107 acres of land in the Sarah Pillow Survey in Jan of 1853. This property was probably located in Falls County but I have no proof. He is thought to have operated a freight and supply business in Falls County. He was appointed by the Commissioners Court to head the committee to survey and build a road across the Little Brazos River at Rocky Crossing for the stage route to Alto Springs. I have no idea where this place is located. On May 30, 1853 he was appointed U. S. Postmaster of Alto Springs. I am trying to find where David and Sarah Gray Seeley Busby are buried. I discovered his father was John Polk and it appears he came to the US from Ireland when he was a young boy. He established a farm in Tennessee on land that was a gift from Col. William Polk who was born in Mecklenburg Co., NC in 1758 and died there in 1834. I have been in contact with other people trying to establish the relationship of John Polk to the family of Col. (Two people, same time& same place enlisted) The pension officials and attorneys for Edmond W. Price sent a flood of letters back and forth which dwell on Edmond being rejected because he was not, in their opinion, Edward. In appears in a few letters that they thought Edward was dead. These "Yes I Am, NO You Are Not" letters are almost as much fun to read as when the insurance company or credit card company bills you for someone else, or rejects your claim, and you try to set them straight. Finally Edmond got a friend who was a member of the US House of Representatives to clarify the situation. Why did he change names?-That's the million dollar question. It is a beautiful . peaceful location. It got its name back in the very early days of Texas history, a man got lost and when he came out into the open he called it Lost Prairie.The church was founded in the early 1840's I believe. I took a picture of the marker, but can't read it, it's so small. I have a gr gr gr grandfather buried there. He has a Historical Marker as a headstone, placed there by the state of Texas in 1962 in honoe of his service in obtaining Texas its freedom from Mexoco. He was with San Houston at the Battle of San Jacinto. Each Baptist church who has a cemetery will have a cemetery association. I'm sorry that I can't give you their address. He had two slaves that worked for him. Ben and Cato. He is buried at Ebenezer Cemetary. Were there any black cemetaries near this one? I think he would have owned some land in Kosse (Limestone Co) and possibly brought his ex-slaves to TX with him. Has anyone ran across any info on this man? He was also known as Col. Ayers. His son was Rhodney Ferrell who married in Limestone CO in 1881.
