Thanks, Jean Reed Herbelin [] [] Armour-Coolidge Cemeteries Author: Beth Wilson [] Date: 8 Aug 2000 12:00 PM According to the Limestone County, Texas Cemetery Surveys published in 1988, the village of Armour was settled in 1873 and families began to bury in this cemetery located on a plot donated by Jim Armour and was next to the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. Then as the lots were filled they moved across the street to another plot. When this plot was filled, they moved to a plot joining the Coolidge City limits, which is the current burying ground. The Pearl Merrill Cemetery was the second cemetery and it has markers with epitaphs such as the one Mark Twain wrote for his daughter. Hope this clarifies the subject somewhat. Has something happened to her headstone? The dates for her are Sept. 15 1851 - April 9, 1926. Bunice Lindley is James Burnice Lindley. He was my great uncle. [] [] Ferguson Cemetery Author: Beth Wilson [] Date: 8 Aug 2000 12:00 PM Robert, The lists you are referring to were probably taken from the Cemetery Books that were published in 1988 by some very dedicated people who tromped all these cemeteries and copied by hand each and every date and name. Then, they were typed on the old typewriters without the aid of modern technologies. I purchased my books from money my Dad gave me for Christmas the year they were published, and had all my family make fun of me. Then, when Dad looked at the books and found many mistakes, it spurred him and his brother to do another survey of his family/community cemetery, the McKenzie. These books are wonderful clues as to where to look but to have the absolute proof, one must make the trip to the cemetery and if the tombstones are not already gone, perhaps you will find the correct data and then also, perhaps not! Oletha people were not very good about recording all the information and turning it in where it could be recorded legally, so the tombstone may be the only source. I am grateful for that! Thanks for your input, I put your data on the page by your people in my cemetery books to correct the record.
