How to Contribute Archive Records

Anyone may submit records to the Tennessee USGenWeb Archives. Any document containing genealogical material may be submitted, and will be placed in the Digital Library for the county or counties that are mentioned in the document. The following guidelines apply:

All material should be in ASCII Text (Plain text, MS DOS Text) to be placed in the Archives. If you have any questions about this format, please ask a File Manager for assistance.

Data in a spreadsheet or database format will be accepted, but the information will be converted to a Text File for display in the Archives. Databases should be submitted directly to the file manager.

Documents that are from copyrighted material cannot be posted unless there is written authorization from the copyright holder. For additional information please see the USGenWeb Copyright Information.

Copyright to data contributed resides with the contributor, who agrees that the USGenWeb Archives, as a not-for-profit project, may display the data permanently and as long as there is no charge.

The USGenWeb Archives cannot make and/or distribute copies of this data nor grant permission to others to use the data without the consent of the submitter.

Computer produced genealogical records, such as GEDCOMs and Family Group Sheets, will not be posted in the Archives. These should be sent to the USGenWeb Family Group Sheet Project

Information about living persons is considered personal and private, and will normally not be posted. Please see our Policy concerning this type of information.

Photographs and images of documents will be placed in the Tennessee USGenWeb Archives on a selective basis. Please see the Criteria for the use of this material.

Please read the additional information that can be found at Guidelines
