In the name of God amen. I William Tiller of the County of Mercer and State of 
West Virginia being of sound mind but very feeble in body, do make this my last 
Will and Testament, hereby revoking all others.
1st. I desire that my Executrix, hereafter to be named shall, as soon as 
practicable, pay all my just debts and funeral expenses out of any money which 
may come into her possession from bonds or otherwise.
2nd. Having heretofore given my children by my first marriage the value of $150 
each I give and bequeath my property as follows. I desire my wife have the 
management and control of the farm on which I live until my youngest child 
arrives to the age of twenty one. The proceeds of said farm to go towards 
supporting herself and the children.
3rd. After my youngest child arrives at age: I give and bequeath to my wife 
Louisa Tiller one third of all my real estate for her sole use and benefit 
during her natural life, and at her death to be disposed of as follows:
4th. I give and bequeath to my three children, to wit: Evermont Ward Tiller, 
Chas. Green Tiller and Laura Angelletta Tiller, two thirds of my real estate 
whenever the youngest arrives to the age of twenty one, and in addition thereto 
I also give to said children the remaining one third of my lands at the death 
of their mother, to have and to hold the same to their own use, for themselves 
their heirs and assignes forever.
5th. I give and bequeath to my wife Louisa all my personal property, after all 
my just debts and funeral expenses shall have been paid, with the exception of 
a bed & bedding, to wit: 1 horse, cows & calf, sheep, hogs, household and 
kitchen furniture, farming utensils and all debts due me by bond or otherwise.
6th. If either of the children named should die before arriving at the age of 
twenty one I desire that he or she interest may revert to my surviving children 
by my present wife.
7th. I give and bequeath to my daughter Ellen Tiller, one bed and bedding.
8th. I hereby constitute and appoint my wife Louisa Tiller my Executrix of this 
my last will and testament.
     In testemony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 
8th day of August 1867.

State of West Virginia -- At Rules held in the Recorders Office of Mercer 
County the 9th day of September 1867.

     The last Will and Testament of William Tiller deceased, was proved by the 
oaths of John Jones and James H. Jones the subscribing witnesses thereto, and 
is ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Louisa Tiller the Executrix 
therein named who made oath thereto and together with Benjamin White, John A. 
McKenzie and John Jones her sureties, entered into and knowledged their bond in 
the penalty of $2000, conditions as the law directs, certificate is granted her 
for obtaining a probate of the said Will in due form.

Additional Comments:
William Tiller was born 26 April 1788 in North Carolina the son of William 
Tiller a soldier of the Revolution. William married first to Rebecca Clay they 
had eleven children. Rebecca died in Mercer Co., VA 15 July 1851. He married 
Nancy Jones in Mercer Co., VA she died 12 March 1860. They had no children. He 
married September 1860 to Nancy's half sister Louisa Jones. They had three 
children. Louisa died in Mercer Co., WV 23 Feb 1907.
