HENRY PR1CKETT - is a son of Isaiah Prickett, who was born January 10, 1779, and
Sarah (Ross) Prickett, born August 9, 1784. He was born July 27, 1803, in that
part of Monongalia county now included in Marion. His first wife was Lydia
Baker, born March 25, 1801, died July 1, 1848, and their children were: Eliza
A., born July 24, 1825, died November 29, 1850; Ira B., August 12, 1827, died
May 14, 1851; Oliver C., March 17, 1831; Maria, July 6, 1834, died July 19,
1851. In Greene county, Pennsylvania, March 27, 1849, Henry Prickett wedded
Rachel Titus, who was born in that State and county, August 15, 1814, a daughter
of Benjamin and Rachel (Mercer) Titus. The children of this marriage were three:
William Emory, born January 24, 1850, died July 11, 1851; Wesley Smith, April 5,
1855; and Emily Calista. Wesley S. lives at home, and is carrying on the farm
and discharging the duties of a notary public and of county surveyor, having
been elected to the latter office in 1881. The father of Mrs. Prickett, Benjamin
Titus, was born August 2, 1759, and fought for Independence under Washington,
and at the close of the war brought home a piece of the flag under which he had
marched to battle, which souvenir is now preserved by his grandson Wesley S.
Benjamin Titus died December 17, 1849, and his wife, who was born March 20,
1785, died July 15, 1858. Both died in Greene county, Pennsylvania. Isaiah
Prickett was descended from a Virginia family, who came to this section of
country and settled near the mouth of Paw Paw, on the Monongahela. He died
November 7, 1854, and his widow survived him two years, dying June 21, 1856.
