GERTIE L. ADAMS
THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, October 30, 1996
Gertie L. Adams of Winchester, Virginia, age 73, died Saturday, 
October 26, 1996 in Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, 
Virginia.

Born March 13, 1923 in Mathias, WV, she was the daughter of 
Joseph and Clara B. Williams Strawderman.

Mrs. Adams was a self-employed furniture restorer and a member 
of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Her husband, whom she married Aug. 2, 1940, died August 8, 1967.

Surviving are four sons, Larry Lee Adams, Bobby Lee Adams, Sr., 
Strother Adams, Jr., all of Winchester, VA, and David C. Adams 
of Stephens City, VA; five daughters, Gloria J. Crosen, Linda A. 
Martin and Mildred Lineberg, all of Winchester, VA; M. Janie 
Nichols of Berryville, VA, and Voda Kay L. Mills of Stephens 
City, VA; one brother, J. C. Strawderman of Gore, VA; 31 
grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.  A son, Charles 
David Adams and a daughter, Geneva Adams are deceased.

A funeral service was conducted at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel 
by Rev. William Burkett and Rev. Anthony Wadsworth.  Burial was 
in the Winchester National Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Larry Adams, II, Robert Adams, Milton McInturff, 
Jr., Bobby Lee Adams, Jr., David Adams, Jr., Timothy Borror, 
Jamie Grimes, Jeffrey A. Clowser, Brian Crosen, Joshua Adams, 
and Samuel Lineberg.

Memorials may be made to Gertie L. Adams Funeral Fund, c/o 
Gloria J. Crosen, 162 Jessica Lane, Winchester, VA 22603.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Jones 
Funeral Home, Winchester/Stephens City, VA.

RICHARD G. ADAMS 
THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, August 21, 1996

Richard (Dick) G. Adams, age 60 of Wardensville, passed away 
on August 14, 1996 at the Winchester Medical Center in 
Winchester, VA.

Born in Glenville, WV on April 19, 1936, he was the son of 
Helen Reaser Adams and the late John Vincent Adams.

Mr. Adams was retired from the US Air in Charleston, WV, a 
member of the Living or Christian Center in Charleston, WV; 
a U.S. Marine, retired Wardensville Municipal Judge and was 
a present Municipal Judge of the town of Capon Bridge, WV; 
Security Officer of the Capon Security of Capon Bridge, WV.

Surviving is his wife, Dorthea Adams of Wardensville, WV; 
three daughters, Debbie Adams Stone of Sanford, Florida, 
Lori Adams Brown of Winchester, VA and foster daughter, 
Lynetta Mae Loy; one son, Richard C. Adams, Jr., preceded 
him in death; one sister, Patricia Ash of Mongahalia, PA; 
one brother, Joseph Page Adams, Brewston Mills, WV; three 
grandchildren; and one brother, Loren Adams, preceded in 
death (missing in action in the Korean War).

Funeral services were held at the Loy Funeral Home in 
Wardensville with the Rev. James Ash officiating.  Burial 
was in the Greenfield Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Oscar Wolford, Allen Sirbaugh, Randolph 
Christian Ash, John Vincent Adams, Aaron Joel Brown, Adam 
Mathew Brown, Bradley Gene Brown and Larry Wilkins.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Loy 
Funeral Home of Wardensville, WV.

TINA LYNN ALLANSON
THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, September 24, 1997

Tina L. Allanson, age 22, of Petersburg, WV, died Saturday, 
September 20, 1997 as a result of an automobile accident at 
Green Springs, WV.

Born June 27, 1975 at Petersburg, she was the daughter of 
Nellie (Wratchford) Allanson of Petersburg, WV and the late 
David D. Allanson.  She was preceded in death besides her 
father, by maternal grandparents, Homer and Nellie Wratchford.

Ms. Allanson was a 1993 graduate of Moorefield High School 
and a member of Petersburg Southern Baptist Church.

Surviving besides her mother is one son, Justin B. Redman 
of Petersburg; one daughter, Jasmine C. Allanson of 
Petersburg; one sister, Melissa Allanson of Moorefield, 
WV and six brothers, Mike Hope, Matthew Allanson, David 
E. Allanson and Jeffrey Allanson of Petersburg; James D. 
Allanson of Campbell, Ohio and Pvt. Jason Allanson of 
Fort Lee, VA.

Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews survive.

Funeral services were held at the Schaeffer Funeral Home 
with Rev. Daniel R. Biser with burial in the Maple Hill 
Cemetery in Petersburg, WV.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.

CATHERINE ALT
THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, March 31, 1999

Catherine A. Alt, 80, of 161 Maple Avenue, Keyser, West 
Virginia, died Thursday, March 18, 1999 at her residence.

Born on April 20, 1918 at Moorefield, West Virginia, she 
was a daughter of the late Edwin M. and Jemima (Veach) 
Pratt.  She also was preceded in death by her husband, 
William K. Alt, Sr., on February 21, 1987; two sisters, 
Nell Sites and Eula Ward; four brothers, William Pratt, 
Courtney Pratt, Woodrow Pratt and Harry Pratt; one 
half-brother, Omar Pratt; and a granddaughter, Catherine 
Elaine Keen.

Mrs. Alt was a retired employee of Mineral County Schools 
in the Food Service Department and was also formerly 
employed with So-Rite Lingerie, Keyser.  She was an 
honorary life member of the Keyser Presbyterian Church 
and a member of the Womens' Circle of the Presbyterian 
Church, the Presbyterian Bible Class, the Town and 
Country Homemakers Club and the AARP.

Surviving family is one son, William K. Alt, Jr. and wife 
Mary of Short Gap, WV; one daughter, Judith Keen and 
husband, David of Winchester, VA; one brother, Ralph 
Pratt of Moorefield, WV; two sisters, Nancy Broome of 
Keyser, WV and Dorothy Helvey of New Market, VA; five 
half-brothers, Edwin Pratt, Chester Pratt, Murphy Pratt, 
Gerald Pratt and Raymond Pratt, all of Moorefield, WV; 
one half-sister, Janet Bosley; three grandchildren; 
three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, March 21 at 
the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Stephen P. 
Fritz officiating.  Burial was in the Potomac Memorial 
Gardens, Keyser.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the 
Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home.

ELVIN PEARL ALT
THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, May 1, 1996

Elvin P. "Bus" Alt, age 76, of Baltimore, MD and formerly of 
Petersburg, WV died Friday, April 26, 1996 at the Ivy Hall 
Geriatric Center, Middle River, MD.

Born March 10, 1920 at Petersburg, WV, he was the son of the 
late William M. and Ida (Ours) Alt.  Besides his parents he 
was preceded in death by one son, Robert Elwood Alt; an infant 
brother, Johnny Alt; two brothers, Raymond and Eston Alt; and 
one sister, Arlena May Weaver.

Mr. Alt was a retired custodian for Baltimore County Board of 
Education, a member of the Middle River Baptist Church, Middle
River, MD, a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, and was a 
member of the Potomac Highlands VFW Post 6454.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth (Kuykendall) Alt; two sons, 
George Kuykendall of Aberdeen, MD, Dale Alt of Moorefield, 
WV; two daughters, Cleta Sites and Elva Hartlieb, both of 
Essex, MD; three sisters, Mary Scott of Dorcas, WV, Lucy 
Simmons and Rosalie Loften, both of Baltimore, MD; one brother, 
Burley F. Alt of Fort Ashby, WW; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-
grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several 
nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Schaeffer 
Funeral Home in Petersburg, with Rev. Dayton Lewis 
officiating.  Burial was in the Lahmansville Cemetery, 
Lahmansville, WV.

Military graveside services were by VFW Post 6454, American 
Legion Post 78 of Petersburg, WV and D.A.V.

Memorials may be made to the Grant County Nursing Home.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Schaeffer 
Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.

THOMAS ANDERSON, SR.
THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, September 25, 1996

Thomas R. "Tommy" Anderson, Sr., 61, of High View, WV, died 
Wednesday at his residence.

The funeral was conducted on Saturday at Shiloh United 
Methodist Church in Lehew, WV by the Rev. James E. Sandefur, 
III.  Burial was in the Shiloh Cemetery.

Mr. Anderson was born June 11, 1935, in Hampshire County, WV 
son of the late Lohr Anderson and Eliza Jane Good.  He owned 
and operated Timber Ridge Saw Service.  He was a member of 
Open Bible Baptist Church in Lehew.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Farmer Anderson; a daughter, 
Barbara Jean Anderson of High View, WV; a son, Thomas R. 
Anderson, Jr. of High View; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Capon Springs Vol. 
Fire Company, Capon Springs, WV 26823.
