ALFRED LANDON PARKER
THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, August 11, 1999

Mr. Alfred Landon Parker, age 60 of Baker, WV passed away on 
Friday, August 6, 1999 at the Washington Hospital Center in 
Washington, D.C.

He was born on August 26, 1938 at Needmore, WV, the son of the 
late Perry Parker and Raye Miller Parker of Baker, WV.

He was a retired highway technician and a member of the New 
Dale Church of the Brethren, Baker, WV.

Mr. Parker was married to Esther Wilkins and is also survived 
besides his wife and mother, by two daughters, Diane Sitaras 
of The Colony, Texas and Cindy Parker of Harrisonburg, WV; 
two brothers, Wallace Parker of Petersburg, and Eugene Parker 
of Moorefield, WV; and two grandchildren.  He was preceded in 
death by one brother, Wendell Parker and one sister, Madeline.

Funeral services were held on Monday, August 9 at the New 
Dale Church of the Brethren in Baker, WV with Rev. Ernest 
Halterman officiating.  Burial was in the New Dale Cemetery 
in Baker, WV.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the McKee 
Funeral Home.

DR. WENDELL W. PARKER
THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, November 18, 1998

Dr. Wendell W. Parker, age 58, of Raleigh, NC passed away 
on November 17, 1998 at the Raleigh Community Hospital in 
Raleigh, NC.

He was born on November 5, 1940, the son of Raye Millerat 
and the late Perry P. Parker of Baker, WV.

Dr. Parker was an Environmental Engineer with Camp Dresser 
and McKee and a member of the Nueuse Baptist Church where 
he served as a deacon.  He was married to Ms. June C. 
Parker who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Kreg A. Parker and wife 
Michelle of Youngsville, NC, Galen P. Parker and Philip 
R. Parker of Raleigh; three brothers, Eugene Parker of 
Moorefield, WV and Wallace Parker of Petersburg, WV and 
Alfred Parker of Baker, WV and one grandson, William 
Wendell Parker of Youngsville, WV.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, November 21, 1998 
at the New Dale Church at Baker, WV with pastor M.L. 
Walters officiating with burial at the New Dale Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the 
McKee Cemetery.

EVELYN BEATRICE (PETERS) PARSONS
THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, August 4, 1999

Evelyn B. Parsons, age 86, of Petersburg, WV, died Wednesday, 
July 28, 1999 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Born December 19, 1912 in Petersburg, WV, she was the daughter 
of the late Edgar L. and Inez (Saville) Peters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey C. Parsons on 
May 27, 1981.  She was also preceded in death by one son, 
Douglas R. Parsons, two sisters, Elenita Harman and Betty 
Harrison and one brother, John Edgar Peters.

Mrs. Parsons graduated from Petersburg High School in 1931.  
She played basketball during her high school years and 
continued to play independently.  She attended St. John's 
Academy in Petersburg.

Surviving are one son, Charles E. Parsons of Romney, WV; 
one daughter, Dee Ann Gossard of Petersburg, WV; one sister, 
Willard VanMeter of Petersburg, WV; six grandchildren, D. 
Scott Gossard of Petersburg, WV, Jeffrey L. Gossard of 
Shiremanstown, PA, Vicki L. Harris of Martinsburg, WV, 
Gregg Cave of Romney, WV, Abigail Parsons of Romney, WV, 
and Emily Parsons of Romney, WV; and two great-grandchildren, 
Dena Gossard and Aaron Gossard of Petersburg, WV.

A funeral service was held Sunday at Schaeffer Funeral Home 
in Petersburg, WV with Rev. Ann W. Harrison officiating.  
Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, WV.

Memorials may be made to Petersburg High School Scholarship 
Fund, 18 N. Main Street, Petersburg, WV 26847.

WILLIAM PETERS
THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, March 31, 1999

Mr. William "Stan" Peters, 69, of Sawmill Road, Harborcreek 
Township, died Tuesday, February 2, 1999.

He was born in Washington, D.C., August 15, 1929, son of 
the late Charles and Alma Robey Peters.

He owned and operated Peters Auto Sales in Moorefield, WV 
and also worked as a surveyor.  He was a member of 
Moorefield Masonic Lodge 29, the Scottish Rite of Wheeling, 
WV and the Shrine Club of Erie.  He was a former patron of 
Moorefield Chapter 102 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; two daughters, Deborah 
Kline and her husband, William, of Lambertville, MI, and 
Kathleen Gaskin of Marietta, GA; a sister, Nancy Nicely 
and her husband, Jack, of Florida; three brothers, Donald 
Peters and his wife Dorothy of Virginia, Richard Peters 
an his wife, Joan, of Florida; and Edwin Peters and his 
wife, Shirley, of Virginia; five grandchildren; one 
great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Friday at the funeral 
home.  Burial was at North East Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by the G.R. Bailey Funeral 
Home, Iroquois Avenue.  Memorials may be made to the 
Shriners Hospitals for Children, Erie Unit, 1645 W. 
Eighth St., Erie, PA 16505; or the Carnegie Library 
for the Blind, 4724 Baum Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15213.

REV. ANDERSON WHITE PHILLIPS
THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, August 11, 1999

Born August 23, 1906 in Hertford, NC, Rev. Anderson White 
Phillips, age 92 of Brookeville, MD, and formerly of 
Moorefield, WV died Thursday, April 29, 1999 at Brookgrove 
Nursing Center in Sandy Springs, MD.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Wilma I. Hardesty 
in December 1969.  On October 11, 1970, he married Nellie 
Kight of Moorefield, WV.

Rev. Phillips began his ministry career in his late twenties.  
From 1944-1946 he pastored at Orange, VA, 1947-1950 he 
pastored at Cross, WV where he was instrumental in raising 
the academic standards of the school system.  He was 
ordained with the Assemblies of God in 1949.  From 1950-
1955 he pastored in Midlothian, MD. From 1955-1976 he 
pastored at Vienna, VA.  He retired from full time ministry 
in 1976.  Anderson and wife Nellie retired to Moorefield, 
WV.  Rev. Phillips hosted the Word of Life Broadcast on 
WELD Radio Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. from 1986 to May 
1995.

At the time of his death he was survived by is wife Nellie 
Phillips, who just recently passed away on July 21, 1999.  
He is survived by three sons, Anderson White, Jr., Wilmer 
David, and Charles Stephen Phillips; his daughter, Sharon 
Kay Phillips; his brother, Samuel Phillips; sister, Nina 
Maude White; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

A funeral was held on Monday, May 3, 1999 at the Vienna 
Assembly of God Church with Rev. Wendel Cover and Rev. 
Bobby Armstrong officiating.  Burial was in the National 
Memorial Cemetery at Falls Church, VA.

REV. NELLIE (YOKUM) KIGHT PHILLIPS
THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, July 28, 1999

Rev. Nellie Kight Phillips, age 81, of Brookeville, MD and 
formerly of Moorefield, WV died Wednesday, July 21, 1999 at 
Montgomery General Hospital, Olney, MD.

Born February 13, 1918 in Cumberland, MD, she was the 
daughter of the late John W. and Lettie R. (Judy) Yokum.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald A. 
Kight, May 29, 1944.  On October 11, 1970 she married Rev. 
Anderson W. Phillips in Vienna, VA.  He preceded her in 
death on April 29, 1999.  One grandson, Roy Kight, preceded 
her also in death.

Rev. Phillips received her Masters Degree in Education from 
WV University, Morgantown, WV and her Ministerial Degree from 
Green Lane Bible College, Green Lane, PA.  She was ordained 
with the Assemblies of God in 1953.  She pastored the 
Moorefield Assembly of God Church in Moorefield, WV from 
1953-1966.  She hosted the Abiding Peace Broadcast on WELD
Radio on Sunday morning at 8:45 a.m. during her ministry 
in Moorefield.  In 1970 she moved to the Washington area 
and retired from the US Postal Service in 1976 as a Postal 
Clerk.

Surviving is one son, Ronald E. Kight; five grandchildren, 
Ronald Kight, Jr., Michael Kight, Lisa Kight, Melissa Kight 
and Nathan Kight; five great-grandchildren; one sister, 
Rachel Leasure of Boonsboro, MD; four brothers, Lemuel P. 
Yokum, John S. Yokum and Richard D. Yokum of Clearville, 
PA and Denver C. Yokum of Bedford, PA; one daughter and 
three sons of the late Rev. Anderson Phillips and their 
children.

Funeral services were held on Sunday at the Moorefield 
Assembly of God Church with Rev. Alton Lee and Rev. D. 
Wendel Cover officiating.  Burial was in the Newhouse 
Cemetery at Rig, WV.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the 
Schaeffer Funeral Home.

MARIANO (MARIO) PIRAINO
THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, April 10, 1996

Mariano (Mario) Piraino, age 82, of Burlington, WV, died 
Thursday, April 4, 1996 at the Egle Nursing Home in 
Lonaconing, MD.

Born January 1, 1914 in Palermo, Sicily, he was the son of 
the late Benedetto Piraino and Anna (DiCarlo) Piraino.  He 
was preceded in death by one brother, one son, Mario Piraino,
Jr. of Moorefield, and his first wife, Pauline (Monsolina) 
Piraino.

Mr. Piraino was retired from Boise Cascade and painted and 
made cabinets and furniture.

Surviving are his wife, Violet (Ratliff) Piraino; five sons, 
Benjamin Piraino of Kissimmee, FL, Johnny Piraino of Medford, 
NY, Joseph Piraino of Bayshore, NY, Salvatore Piraino of 
Jacksonville, FL, Michael T. Piraino of Purgitsville, WV; 
one step-son, Wayne "Pete" Shockey, Jr. of Moorefield, WV; 
two step-daughters, Judy Ann Loy of Romney, WV, Joan E. 
Taylor of Burlington, WV; one brother, Rosano (Ralph) 
Piraino of Westbury, NY; one sister, Nina Baglino of 
Westbury, NY; 22 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 6, at 2 p.m. 
at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel in Moorefield, WV, with 
Pastor Glenn Hamric officiating.  Burial was in the Olivet 
Cemetery in Moorefield.

Funeral services were under the direction of the Fraley 
Funeral Home, Moorefield, WV.

RANDY BRUCE PRATT
THE MOOREFIELD (WV) EXAMINER, Wednesday, May 1, 1996

Randy Bruce Pratt, age 36, of Clarksville, MD, died Saturday, 
April 20, 1996, in Clarksville.

He was born August 23, 1958 in Laurel, MD, a son of Arno L. 
and Catherine (Crites) Pratt.

He was a mechanic by profession.

Surviving in addition to his parents are one brother, Donnie 
Pratt of Ellicott City, MD; two sisters, Mrs. Patsy Kelly of 
Laurel, MD and Barbara Kaiser of Deland, FL.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at the Fraley Funeral 
Home in Moorefield with the Rev. Gary Stackpole officiating.  
Burial was in Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Fraley 
Funeral Home, Moorefield, WV.
