In the name of God, Amen. I, JOHN JAMESON of the County of Augusta and Colony
of Virginia being very sick and weak in body but in perfect mind and memory thanks be
given to God. Therefore, calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is
appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament.
That is to say Principally, first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of
Almighty God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent
and Christian burial at the discretion of my Executor, nothing doubting but at the General
Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Mighty Power of God and as touching
such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give &
demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.
First of all, I ordain and appoint that all my just debts and funeral charges be
discharged. Second, to my well beloved wife JANE I give and bequeath the third of all
my moveable estate and over and above her bed and furniture & one young horse named
Prince, her spinning wheel with the use of the Plantation I now live on with all the profits
arising from the same during her lifetime. Thirdly, I give and bequeath to my grandson
JOHN PERRY all my wearing apparel. Fourthly, I give and bequeath to my
granddaughter SARAH MCNABB one bed and its furniture. Fifthly, I order that after
the legacies already given my moveable estate be equally divided between my nine
children and my grandson JOHN PERRY and after my wifes decease I order that my land
be sold equally divided among these nine children and grandson JOHN PERRY and I do
hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friends ROBERT ARMSTRONG and DANIEL
O’FRIEL to be Executors of this my last will and testament and do hereby disannul
revoke and disallow all wills testaments and legacies by me heretofore made or given and
do Constitute and Appoint this and no other to be my last Will and Testament as witness
my hand and seal this twenty ninth day of February in the year of our lord one thousand
seven hundred seventy five.
