We Charles C Allen & wife Ellen J Allen, Absolum Allen & wife Sallie Allen 
have sold to Elizabeth Lawson for the consideration of One hundred and Eighty 
dollars, Evidenced by seven notes, this day executed to James T Anderson first 
one due in four months from this date & one falling due every three months 
thereafter until all are paid, The last note however is for thirty dollars & 
all bear interest from this date & are a lien on the tract of land herein 
after described until all are fully paid a tract of land lying on ridge in the 
11th District of Jackson County Tennessee and known as the Lawson old Shop 
place and bounded and described as follows.  Beginning on a walnut tree a few 
steps from the horse Mill. Thence down by the horse Mill, along the Center of 
the ridge down below some falls to a large beech marked on three Sides, thence 
up the hill to a small Walnut Just outside of the fence opposite a plum tree 
in the field which plum tree is standing near the line of a 25 acre survey
belonging to R. C. Kirkpatrick now to Rusel Spurlock, thence down the East 
line 3 or 4 poles to three dogwoods due North of a Walnut tree on the top of 
the ridge, Thence North to a Iron wood with a beech pointer and dogwood 
pointer on East corner to a Chestnut near a large root on top of the ridge 
thence around a black gum corner by a large poplar on top of the ridge & just 
to where the hill turns down from the top of the ridge, thence to the 
beginning containing 50 acres more or less  We covenant with the said 
Elizabeth Lawson that we are lawfully seized of said land & have a good right
to convey the same & that the same is unincumbured except a lien in favor of 
J.T. Anderson for the purchase money & we will warrant and defend the title 
thereto against the lawfully claims of all persons whatever  This January 15 
1895

Personally appeared before me W.H.Brooks Clerk of the County Court in and for 
said County, Clarles C. Allen and Absolum Allen with each of whom I am 
personally acquainted who acknowledged that they executed the foregoing 
instrument for purposes therein expressed Also came Ellen J Allen wife of 
Chas. C. Allen  Sallie Allen wife of Absolum Allen with each of whom I am 
personally acquainted who each appeared before me privately and apart from 
their said husbands & each acknowledged that they executed the foregoing 
instrument freely voluntarily and un-derstandingly without compulsion or 
constraint from their said husbands and for the purpose therin expressed.
