Will of Thomas McMackin 07 Feb 1821

The will of Thomas McMackin was written on 7 Feb 1821 and entered into
probate on 23 Oct 1821 in Green Co., TN.

In the name of God, Amen I Thomas McMACKIN, Senr. of the County of Green
and State of Tennessee being weak of body but of sound mind and
disposing memory for which I thank God and calling to mind The
uncertainty of human life and being desirous to dispose of all such
worldly substance as it has pleased God to bless me with I give and
bequeath the same in manner following

That is to say I give to my wife Sarah McMACKIN the plantation with all
appurtenances thereunto belonging for and during her natural life also I
give to my wife Sarah the household and kitchen furniture and the
Negroes and two cows which she is at liberty to make choice of out of my
stock and all the sheep and one half of the hogs and the grey mare and
saddle and bridle for and during her natural life and at her decease I
give the same to my children hereinafter named

1st I give unto my son Thomas McMACKIN the tract of land or plantation
that I now live on containing one hundred and seventy six acres to be
enjoyed by him and his heirs forever

2nd I also give to Thomas the cupboard and the loom with the tacklin (?)
thereto belonging Said Thomas McMACKIN to pay William KIRKPATRICK one
horse worth fifty dollars out of said Thomas own private property
2nd (sic) whereas James McMACKIN made a request that whatever was
intended to be left to him before he died should be left to this son
William McMACKIN now under age Therefore I give to my grandson William
McMACKIN son of James McMACKIN deceased fifty dollars and a horse when
he shall become of age

3rd At the decease of my wife Sarah I wish the Negroes to be sold and
the amount divided in the following manner to the heirs of my son
William McMACKIN deceased I give fifty dollars to be put out at interest
until the youngest child comes of age and then divided equally among
them the fifty dollar horse that is to be paid to my grandson William
McMACKIN son of James to come out of the sale of the Negroes the
ballance (sic) of the price of the Negroes

Also I give to my son Andrew McMACKIN two thirds of a claim or claims
that I have for three hundred acres which I claim in conveyance of a
deed conveyed [several illegible words] COX for two hundred and fifty
acres and a conveyance on said COX for fifty acres if ever obtained to
be enjoyed by them and their heirs forever  Whereas my daughter Martha
McFARLAND has got a horse beast worth fifty dollars therefore I give to
my daughter Martha McFARLIN one dollar at the decease of my wife Give
the household and kitchen furniture with whatever property there may be
not otherways (sic) disposed of to my other daughters Viz Nancy WILSON,
Mary REED and Betsy SCRUGGS to be equally divided amongst them and if
there should be more than fifty dollars for each of them out of the
household and kitchen furniture and the other property not otherwise
disposed of then and in that case whatever is over fifty dollars each to
be divided equally between my daughter Martha McFARLIN and the other
three Girls above named.  At the sale of the Negroes if Samuel HAMILTON
a man of color who claims my Black woman Susy for a wife should be the
highest bidder and can give bond with approved security my executor to
deduct fifty dollars out of the price that she was bid off at and said
Sam HAMILTON to give bond and security for the ballance of what she sold
for

Thomas McMACKIN my executor of this my last will and Testament hereby
revoking all other wills heretofore made in witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 7th day of February 1821
