MARY ELIZABETH SPIKER

Grantsville, Maryland

  Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Spiker, aged 61, died early Thursday morning, Aug. 29, 
at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Guerney Spiker, near 
here, after an illness of several years.  Her death was due to diabetes and 
Brights disease.
  Mrs. Spiker was born Aug. 24, 1879, a daughter of the late Elizabeth and 
Thomas Spiker.  She married John Pierce, from whom she was divorced about ten 
years ago, resuming her maiden name.  Surviving are one son, James Pierce, Gray, 
Pa., and one daughter, Mrs. Guerney Spiker, Grantsville.  Six sisters, Mrs. 
Thomas B. McKenzie, and Mrs. Carrie Swauger, Grantsville; Mrs. James O. Spiker, 
Uniontown; Mrs. George Legeer, Accident; Mrs. Noria Platter and Mrs. Louis 
Hoover, Jennings, and two brothers, Fred Spiker, Jennings, and William Spiker, 
Cumberland.
  Mrs. Spiker was a member of the Casselman Mennonite Church, where funeral 
services were held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, Rev. Roy Kinsinger, 
pastor, officiated.
