   John William Baer, 87, Friedens, died Jan. 18, 2007, at Meadow View Nursing
  Center. Born May 8, 1919, in Somerset Township, son of the late George and Mary
  (Weighley) Baer. Preceded in death by sister, Dorothy Judy, and son-in-law, Dr.
  Fred S. Goldberg. Survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Jeanetta Wilt;
  and children, Barry, married to Eileen Frye, Friedens; Helen, married to Lou
  Bruno, Friedens; Margaret, married to Dennis Kirkpatrick, Lodi, Calif.; John,
  married to Sandra Baker, Meyersdale; David, married to Patricia Baker, Berlin;
  Jeannine, married to the late Dr. Fred S. Goldberg, Somerset; and Lucinda Day,
  Lilburn, Ga. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, Tina (Rick) Barron; Lynn
  (Kathy) Baer; Jeannine (Aleks) Duni; Marne (Dave) Doman; Brett (Joi)
  Kirkpatrick; Shannon Kirkpatrick; Shayne Baer; Sharad Baer; Jessica (Shawn)
  Gross; Gretchen (Alan) Swank; Ariel Goldberg; Collin Day; and Devin Day. Also
  survived by 11 great-grandchildren, Joshua and Elizabeth Barron; Alexis Baer;
  Carter Doman; Amber, Kassi, Drew and Leah Kirkpatrick; Ashton, Savannah and
  Lauren Gross; sisters, Sara Mae Creech; Emma Jane Weible; Phyllis Beal and
  husband, Albert Beal; and brothers Robert; George, married to Bonnie Shaffer;
  and Alan, married to Sandy Barron; sisters-in-law, Mildred Fluck, Eileen Jay,
  and Nadine Airesman; and many nieces and nephews, including beloved niece Patty
  (Judy) and husband, Jimmy Edwards. John was a lifelong farmer and retired from
  Bethlehem Steel after 43 year's service. He is a graduate of Somerset Township
  High School and was a member of Geiger Church of the Brethren, Veterans of
  Foreign Wars, American Legion and National Rifle Association. He served in the
  Pacific theater during World War II. John was an avid fisherman, hunter and
  gardener. He enjoyed working at the Baer Brothers' sugar camp and volunteering
  at the Somerset Historical Center Mountain Craft Days. John will be missed by
  family, friends and neighbors. At the request of the deceased, there will be no
  visitation or viewing. A memorial service will be held at the Geiger Church of
  the Brethren at 11 a.m. Feb. 10. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made
  to the Geiger Church of the Brethren. Arrangements by George E. Mason Funeral
  Home Inc., Davidsville.
