Wilson, Jon C.
Jon C. Wilson, 65, passed away suddenly and unexpected on Sunday, February 15,
2009, in the Emergency Room at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. On May 31,
1975, he married the former Linda L. Breneman, who survives. His passing breaks
a marital union of 33 years. Jon was born on January 29, 1944, in Lebanon, the
son of the late Elizabeth (Smith) O'Donnell, and the stepson of the late
Patrick O'Donnell. Mr. Wilson retired after five years as a toll collector from
the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, Harrisburg East Shore. Previously he was
employed with the city of Lebanon in their parks and recreation department for
22 years, working as the youth director for the city's youth programs. He was a
graduate of Lebanon High School. Mister Wilson was a member of St. John
(Barner's) Lutheran Church, Liverpool. Jon was also state director for the
National Biddy Basketball Association, age 8-12 year olds, and also he assisted
with coaching football and basketball for Lebanon High School. He enjoyed
watching sports on television, and was an avid Notre Dame fan. In addition to
his wife, Jon is survived by his four children, Mindi Phelps and her husband,
Ken of Lebanon, Rachel Kirkpatrick and her husband, Bill of Columbia, Randy
Wilson and his companion, Toby Cole of Lewistown, and Patrick Wilson of
Lebanon; a grandson, who he cherished and adored, Clay Phelps. Friends are
invited for the viewing on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, from 7-9 p.m. at the
George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 606 N. Front St., Liverpool, and from 11
a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2009, until the time of the service at 12 p.m. from
St. John (Barner's) Lutheran Church, 5 Barners Church Road, Liverpool.
Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Peter H. Kuebler. Burial will be at
the discretion of the family. In lieu of Flowers, the family asks kind
consideration for memorial gifts in loving memory of Jon to his church, St.
John (Barner's) Lutheran Church, 5 Barners Church Road, Liverpool PA 17045.
