BECOMES BRIDE AT CHURCH CEREMONY

  A beautiful wedding was solemnized at 7 o'clock Saturday evening at 
the Eighth Avenue Methodist church when Mr. Lawrence Henderson Canan, 
son of M. H. Canan of 1803 Third avenue, and Miss Marguerite Boggs, 
youngest daughter of Rev. and Mrs. George F. Boggs, were united in 
marriage by Rev. Boggs.  The ceremony was performed in the presence of 
500 guests.  The bridal party entered the church to the Bridal Chorus 
from Lohengrin, played by Professor Harry Stewart with violin 
accompaniment by Mrs. Helen Stevens Kocher.  The bride was given away 
by her brother, John Boggs.
  Mrs. Crawford Kirkpatrick of Wayesboro [Waynesboro], the bride's 
sister, was matron of honor, and Miss Mary Jordan, Altoona, maid of 
honor.  Bridesmaids were Mrs. Chas. Gibson Brown of Newark and Mrs. 
Charles Butt of Gettysburg.  Mr. Canan was attended by George Newbold 
Walton of Woodbury, N.J., as best man.  The ushers were William 
Morrison, Coates Walton and William Canan of Altoona; James Carlton 
Robertson of Johnstown; Lieutenant Harold Smith of Mt. Pocono; Harry 
Chenoweth of New York.
  The bride wore a white satin gown with court train and a veil of 
tulle caught with a wreath of orange blossoms.  She carried a shower 
bouquet of white La France roses and narcissus.  The matron of honor 
wore a pink satin gown and tulle hat and carried pink roses.  The maid 
of honor wore a pale green gown and carried deep pink roses.  Mrs. 
Brown wore orchid satin and carried deep pink roses, while Mrs. Butt 
was gowned in pale blue satin and carried pink roses.
  Following the ceremony 125 guests attended the reception held at the 
home of the bride's parents.  Charles Helsel served the luncheon.  The 
bride received many elegant gifts.
  The bride is a graduate of Highland Hall, Hollidaysburg.  The 
bridegroom is a graduate of Harvard university and is now associated 
with his father in business.  During the World war he spent two years 
overseas as a lieutenant of aviation.  After a wedding trip Mr. and 
Mrs. Canan will live at 1803 Third avenue.
