it indicates 2 children/none now living, so both Joseph & Sidney died bef.
1900 & the oldest son, from 1840 census must have died very young; obit; age
37 1860 but age 40 1850 ?? Obit in the Keyport Enterprise, 7 Apr 1905, says,
"Mrs. Collins' father Elijah Bedle was shot and killed by a colored man at
Middletown in 1818." The truth is, per inquisition, is that Elijah Bedle,
after being stabbed by Anthony a slave of Joseph Dorset, died on 21 Dec
1817. Obit also says that she had been a member of Calvary M. E. Church for
many years and was at one time a teacher in the old Bethany M. E. Sunday
school, from which both Keyport M. E. churches sprang.
