SHOOTING BETWEEN ALLEN WHEELER & J. W. ROPER

A shooting affair occurred yesterday between Allen Wheeler and J. W. Roper, at
Curry's Gin, opposite this place.  Wheeler was hit twice in the bowels, from
which he died at 1 o'clock today.  Misunderstanding about the division of some
cotton was the cause.

(The above was apparently reported to the Sentinel via postcard sent by J. M.
McCain of Montgomery, La.)
