A memorial service will be Friday afternoon in Santa Ana for Joy Ritter

She was the daughter of the late C.E. “Pete” and Margaret Ritter of Tracy. Her
father was a real estate developer, insurance broker and community leader, and
her mother was one of the founders of Tracy Community Players, who toured the
state performing “theater in miniature” for clubs and organizations.
Mrs. Freschi grew up in Tracy and graduated in 1953 from Tracy High School,
where she was student body secretary, vice president of the Girls Block T
Society and a cheerleader.
She attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash., and the University of
California, Berkeley, before becoming a United Airlines flight attendant.
While she lived in Villa Park, Mrs. Freschi was an officer of the Providence
Speech and Hearing Auxiliary, a member of Inner Wheel and a founder of Amigos
de Rio, a support group for the Rehabilitation Institute of Southern
California. She recently was made a Paul Harris Fellow by the local Rotary club.
Her husband is a member of the Villa Park City Council and a former mayor. The
couple has enjoyed golfing and traveling.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Freschi of Villa Park; two daughters,
Paula Freschi and Lisa Grau, both of Orange; and five grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Norman R. Ritter of Kennebunk, Maine, and
Peter S. Ritter of Tracy.
Friday’s memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. at Fairhaven Memorial Park, 1702
Fairhaven Ave., in Santa Ana.
The family prefers memorial contributions in Mrs. Freschi’s name be made to St.
Joseph Hospital Foundation, 505 S. Main St., Orange 92878.
