Cove Carpenter W.S. Winchester Last Rites Held

Funeral services were held Saturday morning for a Roberts Cove native 
who died in the Rayne-Branch hospital.  William S. Winchester, 64 
well-known carpenter of the Roberts Cove section of Acadia Parish, died 
in the Rayne-Branch Hospital in Rayne at 6 a.m.; Friday following an 
illness of three weeks.

Services were held in the Maxie Methodist Church and burial followed in 
the church cemetery.  The body remained at the Geesy-Ferguson Funeral 
Home preceding services.

Mr. Winchester was born in Roberts Cove on June 20, 1898, and was a lifelong 
resident of Acadia Parish.  He was a veteran of World War I and was a member 
of the Woodmen of the World.

Surviving are his wife, the former Joyce Susie Robinson; a son William M. 
Winchester of Lafayette; two daughters, Mrs. R.A. Bethea, Jr., of Immokalee, 
Florida and Mrs. Joseph S. Faia of Palm Springs, California; nine grandchildren 
and two great grandchildren.
