   ALEX BERTRAND - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 26
   at St Michael Catholic Church for Alex Bertrand, 75, who died at 2:05 a.m.
   Saturday, March 24, 2001, at his residence in Crowley. Father Louis Richard
   will officiate for the services. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery.
   Visitation will be observed today from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and on Monday from
   8 a.m. until the time of services.

   Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Anna Belle (Duhon) Bertrand of
   Crowley; two sons, Alex (Wayne) Bertrand and his wife Donna of Crowley, and
   Dwayne "T-Boy" and Patricia bertrand of Eunice, and one daughter, Vickie and
   husband A.J. "Fatty" Broussard of Crowley; five sisters, Rosella Sarver, Stella
   Robideaux, Una Simar, Edna Marie Martinez and Betty Langford; two brothers,
   George Echol Bertrand and Velia Bertrand, Jr; ten grandchildren, Alicia, Patrice
   and erica broussard, Taylor and Skylar Bertrand, Alex Bertrand, Jr., Thad, Eric
   and Wendy Benken, Julie Cormier and her husband, Roy Cormier, Jr.; six
   step-grandchildren, Dinah, Blaine and Marcus Hebert, Caitlyn, Kaila and Kelsi
   Johnson; and five great-grandchildren, Sara, Emily, Amber and Lindsey Cormier
   and Kristan Richard.

   Mr. Bertrand was preceded in death by his parents, Velia Bertrand, Sr. and Ida
   Lee Sarver Bertrand; six brothers, Paul, Magnus, Sandrus, Elmo, Jimmy and
   Robert Bertrand; and three sisters, Theresa Petry, Daisy Stutes and Ethel
   Perry.

   Mr. Bertrand retired from the Southwest Vo-Tech School in Crowley after 33
   years as a radio and TV instructor. His passion for music was unsurpassed for
   the love of his family. He was a musician for over 55 years. He entertained with
   the likes of Jimmy C. Newman, Marty Robbins, Mel Tillis, and Charlie Pride,
   and local favorites, Pee Wee Trahan, Rufus Thibodeaux and Pee Wee
   Whitewing, just to name a few. The music community will sadly miss such a
   devoted and dedicated man.

   He is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, serving aboard the
   destroyer, USS Vance, during WW II. VFW Post 6720 will conduct full military
   honors for the funeral. Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley is in charge
   of arrangements.
