FERGUSON B. SLOANE, RAYNE, was born February 26, 1831, in Acadia parish,
Louisiana.  He is the son of David Sloane and Catharine (Harmon) Sloane.  They
became the parents of seven children, three boys and four girls, our subject
being the fourth in order of birth.

Ferguson Sloane is a planter by occupation.  He owns one hundred and twenty
acres of good, tillable land, on which he cultivates rice.  He is united in
marriage with Miss Martha A. Bryan, a native of Louisiana.  They are the
parents of eleven children, four girls and seven boys.
