H.J. GUIDRY RELEASED ON BOND
Crowley Signal June 19, 1904
H. J. Guidry, who was arrested Friday at the instigation of Mr. O.J. Chevalier,
charged with obtaining money under false pretense, was released on $50
bonds. Mr. Guidry claims that he is innocent of the charge and says the
money - $10.00 – was given to him by Mrs. Chevelier to pay his expenses
while searching for her son, who ran away some time ago. Guidry drove to
Church Point, Opelousas and other points and made a trip by rail to Lafayette,
besides paying several telephone messages, and says the amount he received
from Mrs. Chevalier did not pay all his expenses. He located the boy at Sunset,
where he was in company with his and had both the boy’s and his father’s
promise that he would return home. The cast will submitted to the grand jury
in October.
