In the name of God Amen I WILLIAM JEWELL Senr. of Spencer County and State of Kentucky being 
sound in mind and body but considering the uncertainty of life do make this my last will and testament in 
manner and form following Towit:

Item: I want all my just debts paid off the first thing

Item: I give and bequeath to NANCY JEWELL the wife of my son JACOB JEWELL and her children all the 
Land that is entered in my name in the state of Missouri for their use and benefit and also all demands 
that I have against said JACOB JEWELL either by not Book Account or otherwise.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son ROBERT JEWELL the farm on which he now lives containing one 
hundred and Eighty two acres.

Item:  I give and bequeath to my son WILLIAM JEWELL Junr. the farm on which he now lives including the 
Land that I purchased of SAMUEL HENRY (?) and also to have as much of the tract of Land that I 
purchased of GIDEON D--- as will make his Land equal in quantity and quality with my son LEVI’s land.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son LEVI JEWELL the farm on which he lives and also the Land that I 
purchased of JOSHUA BROOKS containing in all about two hundred and nine acres.

Item:  I give and bequeath to my son DAVID JEWELL the farm on which he now lives and also the Land 
that I purchased from AMBROSE WHEELER including the same Tract of two acres containing in all about 
one hundred and thirty two acres.

Item:  I give and bequeath to my son JACKSON JEWELL my home farm containing about Two hundred and 
Sixty Acres and if my wife HETTY JEWELL shall live longer than I do my son JACKSON JEWELL is to 
give her the Brick room of my house for her home to furnish her with wood and provisions and a negro to 
wait upon her during her natural life.

Item: I give to my grand daughter RUTH BEAUCHAMP formerly JEWELL the daughter of my son ISAAC 
JEWELL Dec’d Two hundred Dollars out of my Estate.

Item: I give to my grand children RUTH ANN JOHN WILLIAM and MARY JANE THOMAS two dollars 
each to be paid out of my Estate by my Executors with its intereste whenever they arrive at lawful age 
and if either or any of said children dies before he receives its part of money left the children or 
children living shall receive the part of the child or children that has died.

Item  My will and desire is that my negro property shall be equally divided between my five sons namely 
ROBERT, DAVID, WILLIAM, LEVI and JACKSON JEWELL and it is expressly understood that the 
negroes that DAVID WILLIAM and LEVI now have is to be considered as a part of their interest in 
s' negro property (except old CELY that LEVI has, she is not to be charged at any price to him) the 
balance of my Estate not otherwise disposed of I leave to be equally divided between my sons namely 
ROBERT, DAVID, WILLIAM, LEVI and JACKSON JEWELL.

Item: I hereby ordain constitute and appoint as executors to this my last will and Testament my sons 
ROBERT, DAVID and WILLIAM JEWELL with full power and authority to receive all and every Debt due 
me either by note or otherwise also to pay all the just debts that I have and to do all other acts 
and Deeds that are necessary to carry this will and testament into full and complete effect.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 14 Sept 1838.
