Bullitt County Will Bk C p. 353
In the name of God Amen I Reason ROBY of the County of Bullitt and state of 
Kentucky being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and disposing memory 
and feeling desirous of disposing of my earthyl estate such as it hath 
pleased  God to bless me with do constitute this my last will and Testament 
Towit:

First I will and bequeath that all my (just debts?)  (the film is damaged 
here) be paid including my funeral expenses.

Secondly I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Katherine ROBY my land that I 
now live on 210 acres during her life and widowhood, also my Negro woman 
Mariah,  James Henry a boy and Isabella a girl with their increase I will to 
my wife during her life time. After my death my wife is at the liberty to 
sell or swap the Negro woman Mariah if she does not behave well to her 
Mistress and that my son Willis ROBY and my Son in law Samuel WELLS is to 
sell or Swap said negro woman Mariah for my wife Katherine ROBY after she 
pays all my just debts all the rest of my property both real and personal 
including house hold and kitchen furniture, farming utensils and stock of 
every description, hogs, horses, sheep & with all the small grain that may be 
on hand at my death.  

After the death or marriage of my wife the property I will to her is to be 
equally divided between my nine children Towit: Julia RIDGEWAY, Harriet 
WELLS, Willis ROBY, George W. ROBY, William ROBY, Katherine ROBY, Henry O. 
ROBY, Montraville ROBY and Charles W. ROBY.

Lastly I will  and bequeath to my daughter Julia RIDGEWAY the property I  
have already given her.  Also I will the property I have given my daughter 
Harriet WELLS unto my son Willis ROBY and George W. ROBY and my daughter 
Catherine ROBY to them my wife Katherine ROBY is to give as much property and 
money to my six youngest children to make them equal in amount to what I have 
given my three oldest children out of the property willed to her or its 
proceeds.

In Testamony whereof I subscribe my hand and do Seal this 8th day of May 1844.

Lawrence ROBY...I give and bequeath to my sons William, Owen, Reason, and John ROBY....I 
give and bequeath to my daughter Polly GREENWELL...I give and bequeath to my daughters 
Patsy, Catherine, Susanna, and Harriet ROBY...also to my daughter Elizabeth WILHEIT.....set 
my hand and seal this 22nd day of September in the year of our Lord 1817.
