Cherie Stratford Smith
Mrs. Cherie Stratford Smith, 72, of Shadowlawn Drive in Albany died on
October 9, 2000 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 11, at 2 p.m., at Avalon
United Methodist Church. The Rev. Tim Steffen will officiate the service.
Burial will follow in Oakview Cemetery in Camilla.
A native of Mitchell County, Ga., Mrs. Smith was a 1944 graduate of
Pelham High School, and was married over 53 years.
Mrs. Smith has lived in Albany since 1956, where she was a member of
Avalon United Methodist Church. While a member of this church, Mrs. Smith was a
member of the Bands of Gold Sunday School Class and the United Methodist
Women. Also, she taught Sunday School.
Survivors are her husband, James E. Smith of Albany; two sons, Ed Smith
of Brunswick and Joe Smith of Atlanta; one daughter, Carol Wade of Rome:;two
brothers, Joseph E. Stratford of Portland, Maine and W. Richard Stratford of
Albany; one sister, Polly Stratford Smith of Bremen; six grandchildren and
five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death
by her parents William J. and Lucile Black Stratford, her brother, Herman J.
Stratford and sister Elizabeth Stratford DesRosier.
