Hubert Scoggins

Hubert Scoggins, 73, of Danielsville, died Monday, August 27, 2001.

A native of Madison County, Mr. Scoggins was a son of the late Lee 
Dewitt Scoggins and Sara Ann "Annie" Norris Scoggins.

He was employed in Clarke County with the Department of 
Transportation in maintenance. Mr. Scoggins was of the Baptist 
denomination.

He was preceded in death by a son, Don Jeffery Scoggins.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, in the 
chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Mark 
Palmer officiating. Burial was in the Friendship Baptist Church 
cemetery. Mr. Scoggins' nephews, Neal Scoggins, Jeremiah Scoggins, 
Jonathan Scoggins, Marvin C. Scoggins, Darrin Scoggins, Darrell 
Scoggins and Ronnie Smith, served as pallbearers.

Mr. Scoggins is survived by his wife, Cora Adams Scoggins; one 
daughter, Carol Scoggins, Danielsville; and two brothers, Nelson 
Scoggins and Marvin D. Scoggins, both of Commerce.

Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Edward W. Babe Jr.

Edward William Babe Jr., 70, of Hull, died Wednesday, 
August 22, 2001.

Mr. Babe was born January 14, 1931, a son of the late Edward 
William Babe Sr. and Helen Moroc Babe.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, retiring from the U.S. Navy 
in 1976, with 30 years of credited service. Mr. Babe was a member 
of Hull Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by a son, Alan Williams.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 25, at Hull 
Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Ron Babe, 
Gary Williams, Justin Williams, Curtis Anderson, Mike Osborn and 
Mark Himsl served as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jones Babe; daughter and 
son-in-law, Sandy and Mark Himsl, Colbert; daughters, Christine 
Babe, Suwanee, and Vickie Boruck, Indiana; son and daughter-in-
law, Gary and Vickie Williams, Mobile, Ala.; son, Ed Babe III, 
Grapevine, Texas; two sisters, CarolAnn Ecke, Illinois, and D
Delores Morrow, Huntsville, Ala.; one brother, Ronald Clark Babe, 
Indiana; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several 
nieces and nephews.

Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.

Agnes E. Lunsford

Mrs. Agnes Ellen Pritchett Lunsford, 71, of Carnesville, died 
Friday, August 24, 2001, at Crystle Springs Nursing Home, 
Commerce.

Mrs. Lunsford was born in Oconee County, on June 22, 1930, a 
daughter of the late Wesley M. and Susie Mae Arthur Pritchett.

She was a retired seamstress with Superior Pants Company.

Mrs. Lunsford was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon L. 
McElreath.

Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 26, in 
the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Gene 
Pritchett officiating.

Mrs. Lunsford is survived by her husband, Orin S. Lunsford Sr., 
Carnesville; three daughters, Elaine Manus Sylvester, Mobile, 
Ala., Dianne L. Griffith, Carnesville, and Darnell L. Albritton, 
Tupelo, Miss.; one son, Orin S. Lunsford Jr., Hoschton; two 
sisters, Nellie Sue Pritchett Self, Athens, and Shirley 
Pritchett McEver, Riverdale; one brother, Dan E. Pritchett, 
Athens; six grandchildren, Jason M. King, Houston, Texas, 
Clayton S. King, Mobile, Ala., Christi M. Little, Ila, Joshua 
M. Lunsford, Athens, and Samantha J. Lunsford and Orin S. 
Lunsford III, both of Hoschton; and two great-grandchildren, 
Christopher James Little and Cierra Dawn Little, both of Ila.

Louie Brumbelow

Louie Brumbelow, 76, of Ila, died Saturday, August 25, 2001.

Mr. Brumbelow was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou 
Brumbelow.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, in 
the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home, Cumming. Burial was in 
Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include one daughter, Rita Ann Ingram, Alto; two 
sons, Tommy Brumbelow, Cumming, and Raymond Lee Brumbelow, 
Nicholson; one sister, Dennie Garmon, Alpharetta; 10 
grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Ingram Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Henry L. Griffeth

Henry Landis Griffeth, 91, of Greenville, S.C., died Wednesday, 
August 22, 2001.

Mr. Griffeth was born in Colbert, a son of the late James Ellis 
and Susie Morris Griffeth.

He was a retiree of Black Electric Supply Company and served 
in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Griffeth was preceded 
in death by three brothers, James Austin, Walter Trellis and 
Jesse Ellis Griffeth, and a sister, Wilma G. Ebersole.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 
in Colbert City Cemetery with the Revs. Al Sherbert and James 
Ellis Griffeth officiating.

Mr. Griffeth is survived by two sisters, Arnis G. Mills, 
Liberty, S.C., and Verdah G. Looper, Charlotte, N.C.; two 
brothers, Charles Ranford "Randy" Griffeth, Travelers Rest, 
S.C., and Vernon Griffeth, Camden, S.C.; and several nieces 
and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society of Greenville 
County, 113 Mills Avenue, Greenville, SC 29605, or to the 
Hospice of the Greenville Hospital System, 255 Enterprise 
Blvd., Suite 120, Greenville, SC 29615.

Cartee Pullian

Cartee Pullian, 88, of Royston, died Thursday, August 23, 2001.

A native of Madison County, Mr. Pullian was a son of the late 
Tom and Tishey Pullian.

He was an auto mechanic and was a member of Unity Baptist 
Church. Mr. Pullian was preceded in death by his wife, Ina 
Belle Haynes Pullian.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 
at Unity Baptist Church with the Revs. Kevin O'Donnell and 
Jack McVeigh officiating. Burial was in the Mill Shoal Baptist 
Church cemetery. Gary Spung, Anthony Spung, Leslie Pullian, 
John Pullian, Clay Miller and Wayne Morrison served as 
pallbearers.

Survivors include three daughters, Marlene P. Day and Ina Linda 
Boles, both of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Audrey M. Green, Royston; 
two sons, Leslie A. "Bo" Pullian, Royston, and Luther Jackson 
"Jack" Pullian, Tampa, Fla.; and one brother, Haskel Pullian, 
Carlton.

Sara Wilson

Miss Sara Wilson, 92, of Commerce, died Saturday, August 25, 2001, 
at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, of a brief illness.

Miss Wilson was born in Dillard, a daughter of the late Alexander 
Wilson and Sally Powell Wilson.

She was retired from Whatley's Drug Store, Gainesville, where she 
resided for most of her life.

Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, in 
Alta Vista Cemetery, Gainesville.

Survivors include three nieces, Janet Alberts, Sally Wilson 
and Jamie Duff; three nephews, Robert Wilson, Richard Wilson 
and Kendal Hudak; several great-nieces and great-nephews; 
and a special friend, Barbara Nigreville, Commerce.

Jody E. Lee

Mrs. Jody Eloise Lee, 43, of Commerce, died Wednesday, 
August 22, 2001.

A native of Barrow County, Mrs. Lee was a daughter of Evia 
Campbell and the late Raymond R. Stewart.

She was a homemaker and was a member of White Plains Baptist 
Church. Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny 
Stewart, and a sister, Elaine Wiley.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 
in the chapel of Wise-Connolly Funeral Home, Winder, with 
the Rev. Larry Lee officiating. Burial was in the White 
Plains Baptist Church cemetery.

In addition to her mother, Mrs. Lee is survived by her husband, 
Jerry Lee; two sisters, Linda Lee, Elberton, and Dianne Matthews, 
Braselton; and five brothers, Merlin Stewart, Commerce, Robert 
Stewart, Donnie Stewart and Ronnie Stewart, all of Hoschton, 
and Gary Stewart, Rayle.

Jeffrey A. Nagy

Jeffrey Alan Nagy, 32, of Maysville, died Thursday, 
August 23, 2001, at Grady Memorial 
Hospital following injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Mr. Nagy was born January 11, 1969, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was 
a son of Ronald A. Nagy, Parma, Ohio, and Barbara Brucchieri 
Dombrowski, Brunswick, Ohio.

Mr. Nagy was employed as IS Manager for Jefferson Blanking Corp.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 
in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the 
Rev. Swayne Cochran officiating. Burial was in Eastlawn 
Cemetery, Brunswick, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Nagy is survived by his 
wife, Stacy Lynn Lyons, Commerce; one son, Nicholas Ray Nagy, 
Commerce; step-father, Edward Dombrowski, Brunswick, Ohio; 
three sisters, Terri Finlin, Tammi Safranek and Traci Talaczyk, 
all of Brunswick, Ohio; and grandparents, Agnes Brucchieri, 
Brunswick, Ohio, and Dorothy Dombrowski, Cleveland, Ohio.

Paul C. Wade

Paul C. Wade, 84, of Demorest, died Wednesday, 
August 22, 2001, at a private nursing facility following 
an extended illness.

A native of Banks County, Mr. Wade was born June 24, 1917,
 to the late Peter Cleveland and Margie Crenshaw Wade. 

He was a painter and carpenter and was of the Christian faith. 
Mr. Wade was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret 
Herbert Wade, a brother, Roosevelt Wade, and a sister, Grace 
Plott.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, August, 24, in 
the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, 
with the Rev. Sanford Kimbrell officiating. Burial was in the 
Return Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Birdell Blalock Wade, Demorest; 
one daughter, Betty Scroggs, Alto; two step-daughters, Vancine 
Chandler, Cornelia, and Mahala Moody, Alto; one son, Nelson J. 
Wade, Ridgeway, Va.; two step-sons, Curtis Wade, Hollywood, 
and Christopher E. Wade, Cleveland; four brothers, Dewey Wade, 
Richard Wade and Buford Wade, all of Demorest, and Grady Wade, 
Commerce; three sisters, Sophornia Pettit, Cleveland, and 
Charlotte Freeman and Joyce Turner, both of Demorest; three 
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A native of Madison County, Mrs. Royston was a daughter of

She was a homemaker and was a member of Zion Baptist Church. 
Mrs. Royston was preceded in death by her husband, Early L. 
Royston.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, 
in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the 
Revs. Dennis Kesler and Vernon Dorminey officiating. 
Burial was in the New Hope Congregational Holiness Church 
cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Louise Roberts, 
Carnesville, and Connie Boles, Royston; one son, Ronnie L. 
Royston, Royston; two sisters, Florrie House, Danielsville, 
and Gladys King, Greenwood, S.C.; 11 grandchildren and nine 
great-grandchildren.
