Susie B. Freeman

Mrs. Susie B. Freeman, 75, of Danielsville, died Thursday, 
April 20, 2000.

A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Freeman was a daughter of the late 
Harvey and Chester Toney Brooks.

She was retired from Georgia Sportswear and was a member of Victory 
Baptist Church. 

Mrs. Freeman was preceded in death by her husband, George T. 
Freeman, and two brothers, William Brooks and Claude Brooks. 

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 22, at Victory Baptist 
Church with the Revs. Elmer Butler and Ray Jenkins officiating. 
Burial was in Ila Cemetery. Members of the Athens-Clarke County 
Fire Department Honor Guard served as pallbearers.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, June and Gary Beale, 
Rabun Gap; sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Gail Freeman and 
Terry and Pam Freeman, all of Ila, and David and Tamara Freeman, 
Nicholson; one sister, Myrtle Gordon, Colbert; 10 grandchildren, 
two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two step-great-
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Lord & Stephens Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Henry F. Haley Jr.

Henry Freeman "Junior" Haley Jr., 71, of Royston, died Wednesday, 
April 19, 2000, at the Brown Convalescent Center.

A native of Franklin County, Mr. Haley was born December 29, 1928. 
He was a son of the late Henry Freeman Sr. and Marietta Fulbright 
Haley. 

Mr. Haley was disabled and had been employed as a maintenance 
worker with the University of Georgia. He was a member of Indian 
Creek Baptist Church. 

Mr. Haley was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Haley.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 20, at the B.D. Ginn 
Memorial Chapel at Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, with the Rev. 
Leonard Morton officiating. Burial was in the New Hope Baptist 
Church cemetery.

Survivors include two brothers, Winfred Haley, Royston, and Johnny 
Haley, Brookhaven, Miss.; one sister, Helen Pace, Athens; three 
nieces and six nephews.

Ginn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Laura B. Pullian

Mrs. Laura B. Pullian, 58, of Bowman, died Thursday, April 20, 2000.

A native of Madison County, Mrs. Pullian was a daughter of the late 
George T. and Gussie Scogin Brooks. 

She was a homemaker. Mrs. Pullian was preceded in death by two 
brothers, George Cordon Brooks and William Hoyt Brooks. 

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 22, in the chapel of 
Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Glenn Guest 
officiating. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gardens. 
Pallbearers were David Chastain, Trent Martin, Kevin Martin, Ty 
Parham, Randy Hart and Scott Pullian.

Survivors include her husband, Claudie Pullian; two daughters, 
Leandrea Pullian, Bowman, and Karen Hart, Canon; one son, Mike 
Pullian, Bowman; two sisters, Patsy Standridge and Bertha Brooks, 
both of Comer; three brothers, Joe L. Brooks, Robert T. "Bob" 
Brooks and James Ralph Brooks, all of Comer; and several nieces 
and nephews.

Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Bryan H. Collier

Bryan Hardeman "Brad" Collier, 30, of Auburn, died Monday, 
April 17, 2000.

A longtime resident of Madison County, Mr. Collier was a son of 
Ralph and Barbara Collier, Colbert, and Stanley Hardeman, Athens. 

He was a grandson of Anna "Sue" West and the late Jessie West and 
James and Florence Hardeman, all of Athens. 

Mr. Collier was a 1988 graduate of Madison County High School and 
in 1990, joined the U.S. Army. For three years he was stationed in 
Seneca Army Depot in New York, before being stationed for three 
years at Fort Clayton, Panama, Central America, during which time 
he obtained the rank of sergeant. 

He was a member of Colbert Baptist Church and was recently attending 
Hebron Baptist Church, Dacula. Mr. Collier was employed as manager 
of Right Choice Staffing Service in Suwanee.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 20, at Colbert Baptist 
Church with the Rev. Don Fuller officiating. Burial was in the 
Colbert Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Bacon, Brad Wham, Tom 
Lawton, Mitch Hardeman, Greg Booth, Phil Booth, Chris Tamplin, 
Wesley Stewart and Andy Collier.

Survivors, in addition to his parents and grandparents, include 
his wife, Claudia Lynn Collier; one daughter, Maggie Collier, 
10 years old; one son, Zachary Collier, 5 years old; brother and 
sister-in-law, Robbie and Christy Collier, Comer; and many cousins, 
nieces and nephews.

Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, was in charge of 
arrangements.

Allen Ledford

Allen Ledford, 54, of Commerce, died Thursday, April 20, 2000.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Ledford was a son of Curtis and 
Mary Beck Ledford, Commerce.

He was employed as a truck driver for Gold Kist Feed Mill and was 
a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. Mr. Ledford was preceded in 
death by a brother, Tommy Ledford.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 23, at Ridgeway Baptist 
Church with the Rev. Bill Manus and Mike Faulkner officiating. 
Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Martha 
Strickland Ledford; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Kim Ledford, 
Commerce; five brothers, Kenneth Ledford, Steve Ledford and Donny 
Ledford, all of Commerce, Mark Ledford, Carnesville, and Terry 
Ledford, Lula; three sisters, Doris Leachman and Carol Pace, both 
of Commerce, and Susan Strickland, Carnesville; and two 
grandchildren, Kyle and Kevin Ledford, both of Commerce.

Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

Max Wellman

Max Wellman, retired T/Sgt. U.S. Air Force, 78, of Commerce, died 
Sunday, April 23, 2000.

A native of Hart, Mich., Mr. Wellman was a son of the late E.Z. 
and Viola Loncor Wellman.

Mr. Wellman entered the service prior to World War II and remained 
until his retirement.

He was a veteran of World War II and of the Korean War. Mr. Wellman 
was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Hudson Lodge 294 and 
the Yaarab Temple. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled 
American Veterans and was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 25, in the chapel of 
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. A. Calvin 
Forrester and Brad Wilson officiating. Burial was in Jackson 
Memorial Gardens, Commerce, with Masonic rites.

Survivors include his wife, Blondine Herbert Wellman; one son, 
C.E. Wellman, Colleyville, Texas; two daughters, Reabecca 
DeGruson, Pittsburg, Kan., and Viola Weisinger, Leavenworth, 
Kan.; two step-sons, Charles Westmoreland, Commerce, and Scott 
Westmoreland, Coral Springs, Fla.; six grandchildren, eight 
step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

William M. Beasley

William Martin Beasley, 52, of Gainesville, died Wednesday, 
April 19, 2000, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville. 

Born in Elbert County, Mr. Beasley was a son of the late Joe
 Cohen and Margaret Gaines Beasley. 

He received his bachelor of arts degree from Berry College, Rome, 
in 1969, his master's degree from West Georgia College, Carrollton, 
in 1974, and his T-6 degree from West Georgia College in 1976. 

Mr. Beasley was a high school teacher at North Hall High School, 
Gainesville, and in Cherokee County for 30 years. He was a member 
of the Georgia Educators Association and the Retired Teachers 
Association. Mr. Beasley was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, 
Elberton. 

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 22, in the chapel of 
Hicks Funeral Home, Elberton, with the Revs. Connie Ivester and 
Jonathan Peppers officiating. Burial was in Forest Hills Memorial 
Park, Elberton. 

Survivors include three brothers, Joe Beasley, Carnesville, Wayne 
G. Beasley, West Point, Va., and Michael Beasley, Danielsville; 
one sister, Elizabeth Beasley Morris, Athens; and five nephews, 
two nieces, one uncle and two aunts.

Annie L. Rich

Mrs. Annie Lou Booth Rich, 87, of Danielsville, died Saturday,
April 22, 2000.

Mrs. Rich was born in Madison County, a daughter of the late 
William Singleton and Carrie Carter Booth.

She was retired from Georgia Sportswear and was a member of 
Providence Baptist Church. 

Mrs. Rich was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Rich, 
and two daughters, Margie R. Brown and Mildred R. Harris.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 24, at Providence Baptist 
Church with the Revs. Johnny Tucker and Albert Vaughn officiating. 
Burial was in the church cemetery. Billy Booth, Bobby Booth, 
Wesley Chandler, Tim Hardman, Jr. McGee, D.L. Mealor, Jr. Shields 
and Nelson Stovall served as pallbearers.

Mrs. Rich is survived by three sisters, Ruby M. Weeks, Fairfax, 
Va., Nellie B. Watson, Danielsville, and Addie B. Wilson, 
Greenville, S.C.; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Catherine G. Dillard

Mrs. Catherine Glenn Dillard, 92, of Lanier Gardens, died Monday, 
April 24, 2000.

A native of Abbeville, S.C., Mrs. Dillard had lived in Madison 
County most of her life. She was a daughter of Walter Langlin and 
Mary Rebecca Nichols Glenn.

Mrs. Dillard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Athens. She 
was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Newton Dillard Sr., and 
a daughter, Ann Dillard Fuller.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, April 26, at Pleasant Grove 
Baptist Church with Dr. Jon Appleton and the Rev. Frank Granger 
officiating.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Kaye Dillard, 
Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Loring Lee, Sumter, S.C.; 
daughter, Susan Dillard Wood, Carrollton; 10 grandchildren, four 
great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 355 Pulaski 
Street, Athens, GA 30601, or to the Athens Y.M.C.A., 915 Hawthorne 
Avenue, Athens, GA 30606.

Ralph E. Mize Sr.

Ralph E. Mize Sr., 83, of Colbert, died Monday, April 24, 2000.

Mr. Mize was born in Haralson County, a son of the late Herschel 
and Annie Ruth Edwards Mize.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II, 
and was a retired principal from Danielsville Elementary School 
and Commerce Elementary School. Mr. Mize was a member of Moon's 
Grove Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge Post #348 and the American 
Legion Post #39. He was also a Shriner.

Mr. Mize was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Bassett Mize.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at 
Moon's Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Lee officiating. 
The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be 
in the church cemetery. Members of the Adult #5 Sunday School 
class of Moon's Grove Baptist Church will serve as honorary 
pallbearers.

Survivors include three sons, Ralph Mize Jr., Bogart, Herschel 
Mize, Colbert, and John D. Mize, Atlanta; 11 grandchildren and 18 
great-grandchildren.

The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday 
at Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville.
