Lois Bettis

Margaret Lois Shaw Bettis, 81, of 3011 Lawton Lane died Saturday, 
Oct. 12, 1996.

A native of Madison County, Mrs. Bettis was a daughter of the late 
Leck and Bertha Nelms Shaw and the widow of George C. Bettis. She 
was a retired textile worker and a member of Francis Asbury Methodist 
Church, Elberton.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home, 
Danielsville, with the Rev. Steve Stephens officiating. Burial will 
be in Meadow Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Nelson Bettis, Hull; a daughter, Camilla 
Hammond, Athens; a brother, Earnest Shaw, Winder; a sister, Elizabeth 
Webb, Winterville; four grandchildren, Dameron May, Hull, and Greta 
Bettis, Nick Bettis and Joe Hammond Jr., all of Athens; and four 
great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Nick Bettis, Dale May Jr., Joe Holden and James 
Mullins.

The family is at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Bettis, Beverly 
Drive, Hull, and will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral 
home.
