Jacqueline James Parris of Morrow, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 
at Henry Medical Center. She was a native of Rex, and retired 
from the Civil Service.  Survivors are her husband, Charles 
W. Parris of Morrow; daughter, Carletta and Mike Cannon of 
Stone Mountain; son, Garnett and Jane Parris of Morrow; sister, 
Linda and Tom Farley of Palmetto, Fla.; brother, Bill and Shirley 
James of Marianna, Fla..; grandchildren, Kimberly Hicks, Garnette 
Parris, Jr., Christina Parris, Matt and Melinda; great grandchildren, 
Matthew and Makenzie; nieces and nephews.  Interment at the Rock 
Baptist Church Cemetery.

WILLIAMS, RALPH D.
Ralph D. Williams, age 74 of McDonough, formerly of Sevier County, 
passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006.

COOPER-GREEN, CHRISTI
Christi Cooper-Green, age 34, of Milner died February 1, 2006. 
She was a devoted wife and mother and a member of Berean Baptist 
Church.   Survivors include her husband, Michael Green; children, 
C.J. and Andrew Green; mother, Diane Cooper of Rex; sister, Cyndi 
McDaniel (Walter), of McDonough; brother, Bill Cooper (Allison) 
of Douglasville; adopted brother and sister, Albert and Annette 
Pearson of Milner; grandmother, Doris Keener of Rex; several 
nieces and nephews. Her father, Richard Cooper preceded her in 
death January 13, 2006. Interment at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

COON, JOHN DONALD
John Donald “Don” Cason, 69 of Lithonia, passed away on Thursday, 
Feb. 2, 2006. Mr. Cason was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church 
in Stockbridge and also a veteran serving in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Survivors include: loving wife of 50 years, Yolande Cason of Lithonia; 
Two daughters: Cheryl Chandler of Covington, and Juanita Tucker and 
husband Tommy of Ellenwood; son, Scott Cason and wife Claudia of 
Covington; Brother, Cliff Cason; Sister, Myra Jernigan; Four 
grandchildren: Chris Thompson, Kevin Tucker, Colby Chandler, 
and Kayla Cason.  Entombment at Lawnwood Memorial Park Mausoleum. 

NAVE, FRED B.
Fred B. “Buddy” Nave of Stockbridge passed away Feb. 2, 2006. He 
is survived by his wife Carolyn of Stockbridge; daughters, Lauran 
Nave and Katrina (Kathy) Nave Jones; sons, John Nicholson and Nick 
J. Nicholson and seven grandchildren. Mr. Nave was employed by Dunkin 
Donuts as a dispatcher.  Interment will be at Happy Valley Memorial 
Park in Elizabethton, Tenn.

WHITTED, MYRTLE BALL
Myrtle Ball Whitted, age 84, of McDonough, Ga., died peacefully 
Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 at Westbury Medical Center in Jackson, Ga. 
She was born in Durham, N.C., to the late George E. and Zola Ball. 
She was married to her soul mate, J.B. Whitted, of 62 years before 
his passing in 2001. Even during the last few days of her life, her 
sense of humor showed through. She loved life, God, her family and 
friends. She was a talented seamstress and very creative in arts 
and crafts. She will be missed by many friends and family. 
Mrs. Whitted is survived by children, Susie Whitted Irwin of 
McDonough, Ga., Debra Whitted Toney of Jackson, Ga., Nancy Whitted 
O’Neill of Juno Beach, Fla., Betty Ann Whitted of Charlotte, N.C., 
James Whitted of Los Angeles, Calif., William M. Whitted of Peachtree 
City, Ga.; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Interment at 
College Park Cemetery. 

HAYES, ALFRED CLAY
Alfred Clay Hayes, age 90, of McDonough, Ga., died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006. 
He was born in McDonough, Ga., to the late Harrison Bartow and 
Lilla Iola Thaxton Hayes. He owned Hayes Furniture Company in McDonough 
for 35-plus years, was a member of the McDonough Presbyterian Church 
where he served as a deacon and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 
No. 37 and the American Legion Post No. 55. He served in the U.S. Army 
in World War II in the 5th Army, 91st Division, 348th field artillery 
in North Africa, Italy and France. Mr. Hayes was known to be a fair, 
honest businessman who treated everyone with respect. He enjoyed farming 
as a young man and gardening later in life. Mr. Hayes is survived by 
his daughter, Peggy (Ron) Griffin of Stockbridge; son, Sloan Hayes of 
McDonough; brother, Henry T. Hayes of Lawrenceville; sister, Willene 
Wallace of Cleveland, Ga.; grandchildren, Christopher (Robyn) Hayes of 
Gibsonville, N.C., Chad (Rebecca) Hayes of Woodstock, Heather M. Hayes 
of McDonough; four great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews; 
caregivers and special friends Clara Cornwall and Marchelle Jackson. 
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Annola S. Hayes; son, 
Tom Hayes; brother Frank; sisters, Naomi H. Minter, Mae Hayes, Josie H. 
Mayo and Faye H. Elliott. Interment at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

BATCHELOR, EDWARD CLEMONS
Edward Clemons Batchelor, age 61, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006 at 
his residence in Helena.  Mr. Batchelor was the son of Mollie Sue Cook 
Batchelor and the late Luther Edward Batchelor of Telfair County. He 
was a veteran of the Viet Nam War. Mr. Batchelor had retired from the 
Baxter Health Care as a Distribution Manager.  Mr. Batchelor had 
returned to Telfair County after retirement.  Interment will be at 
Telfair Memorial Gardens. Survivors include: children, Keith Batchelor 
of Covington, Paula Batchelor of Forest Park, Amanda Batchelor of 
Stockbridge; mother, Mollie Sue Batchelor of Helena; one grandson, 
Justin Batchelor of Holbrook, N.Y.

WHITE, TERRESA
God sent an angel to take Terresa White home Feb. 6, 2006 to meet with 
her loved ones. She was preceded in death by husband Roy “Pete” White 
and daughter Alice Mayree White Selman. She was the second of six girls 
born to Samuel Masters White and Alpha Clark White on Sept. 29, 1905.
Survivors include her daughter, Ailene White Stewart and husband Jack 
of Decatur; eight grandchldren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-
grandchildren; friends and relatives, all of whom she one day welcome 
home at heaven’s gate. Special thanks to granddaughters: Beverly Rose, 
Kathy Moss, Donna Jones and the staff of Traditions Health and 
Rehabilitation. Interment to follow at Bethel United Methodist Church 
Cemetery.

Linda D. Payne, age 61, of Ellenwood died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006.

daughter, Missy Bell of McDonough; sisters, Barbara Ann Gaines of Lilburn

Bobby Pierce of Marietta, Tommy Pierce of Loganville and Jimmy Pierce

DANIELSON, BILLIE S.
Billie S. Danielson, age 83, of McDonough, Ga., went to be with the Lord, 
Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006.  Mrs. Danielson is survived by son, Sonny 
(Melissa) Danielson, McDonough; brother, Ralph Staffins, Loganville, 
Ga.; grandchildren, Kerri and Donald Baxter, Aundrea and Chris Lea, 
Heather Danielson; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in 
death by husband, LeRoy Danielson; son, Donald E. Baxter; daughter, 
Timmye Stone; and granddaughter, Angela Stone.  Interment at Crest Lawn 
Memorial Park.

Addy Dean, age 75, of Hampton, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006. She was 
born in Montello, Wis., to the late Walter and Bertha Mateske Dahlke. 
She liked to work in the garden, and liked her animals. Addy was in the 
ministry since the early 50s and really enjoyed people. She was the owner 
of Dean’s Healthcare since 1995 and delivered the town and country shopper.
She is survived by husband, Robert Clyde Dean of Hampton; sons, David 
Charles Huff of Atlanta, GA, Donald Blackman of Tinley Park Ill.; grandsons, 
Jared Alexander Huff of Villa Rica, Joshua Abram Huff of Lawrenceville, 
David Blackman; brother, Elton Dahlke, Neb.; sisters, Eddie Rossman, 
Calif., Arlene Kroll, Wis., Laverne Hahn, Wis.; great granddaughters, 
Lyric and Monroe Huff; niece, Ruth and other nieces and nephews.  

MOORE, LILA EDITH
Lila Edith Moore, age 92, of 3598 Rolling Meadows Drive in Ellenwood 
died at home Feb. 8, 2006. Mrs. Moore, a long-time resident of Amarillo, 
Texas has resided with her daughter Mrs. Gail Tackett since March 1999.
Mrs. Moore was born June 26, 1913 in Hoisington, Kansas. The 5th child 
of Martin Ellis Field and Mercy Elizabeth Wilson preceded in death by 
her husband of 52 years, Carlyle F. Moore, son Robert L. Moore and great 
grandchild Zachery Keys. Surviving are one sister; Mrs. Bernadine Nichols 
of Edmond, Okla., Mr. & Mrs. Virgil Tackett, Mrs. Carolyn Moore of Spring, 
Texas, seven grandchildren, Mr. & Mrs. E.J. Keys of Locust Grove, Ga., 
Mr. & Mrs. David Keys of Lone Grove, Okla. Mr. Robert Keys of Lovelady, 
Texas, Melony Moore of Spring, Texas, and Mr. & Mrs. Mark Jaehne, 18 
great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Moore will be laid 
To rest with her husband at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

North Carolina; sister, Ora Dell Sexton of North Carolina; 14 grandchildren

PARKER, MICHAEL ALLAN
Michael Allan Parker, age 18, of Locust Grove, Ga., died Feb. 10, 2006.
Michael was a student at Faith Academy and a previous student at Luella 
High School. He was a talented student who enjoyed playing his guitar, 
his skateboard and Nopi Cars. He is survived by his parents,  Interment 
will be in the Locust Grove Cemetery. 

NELSON, NEVA B.
Neva B. Nelson passed away on Friday Feb. 10, 2006. Graveside funeral services
Andersonville National Cemetery.   Mrs. Nelson was born in South Dakota 
and resided in Iowa until her marriage. She was the daughter of the late 
Alfred and Eudora Morrow Wells and the widow of Lt. Col. Hal J. Nelson.
Survivors include her children, Gwenyth Nelson Gresham of Bonaire, Richard 
Hal (Patricia) Nelson of McDonough; grandchildren, Jennifer Foster, Julie 
Gresham, Jill Gresham, Wendie Nelson-Varnadoe and Lori Nelson, and one 
great grandchild.

Charles D. Jackson, age 67, of Hampton, passed away on Feb. 11, 2006.
He is survived by his loving wife, Irma Sue Jackson; sons and daughters-in-law, 
Darrell and Lisa, Dwight and Dawn, Dwayne and Sherryl; Darrin and Lynn; 
sister and brother-in-law Mary and Harold Barber; sister-in-law, Jessie 
Wade; brother-in-law and their spouses, George and Twilla Wade, James 
David and Shirley Wade; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and several 
nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.  He was of the Baptist Faith and 
was associated with the Lake Cindy Civic Club. He retired in 2001 as a 
driver for Pepsi Cola. Interment will be at Sherwood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Blevins is a member of the Eastern Star Cobb Chapter No. 468 in 
Ozark, Ala.  Mrs. Blevins is survived by her husband James Blevins; sons, 
Charlie Brannon Jr. of McDonough, DeWayne Allen Brannon of Ellenwood; 
daughters Teresa Sheryl Bell of Ellenwood, Karen Sue Wyckoff of Braselton, 
10 grandchildren and extended family Pam, Steve and Megan Escue of Ellenwood.
Interment at Fairview Memorial Gardens. 

HOLCOMB, JAMES JAY
Mr. James Jay (Jim) Holcomb, 44, of McDonough, Ga., passed away Sunday, 
Feb. 12, 2006.  Mr. Holcomb was born June 9, 1961 in Syracuse, N.Y. to 
Jackie Lord Holcomb and the late Spurgeon Holcomb. Mr. Holcomb was a 
construction project supervisor. Mr. Holcomb was a graduate of Auburn 
University. He enjoyed scuba diving.  Survivors include, wife Susan Bozeman 
Holcomb; daughter, Jessica Lauran Holcomb; stepson, Justin Luke Gasaway; 
mother, Jackie Holcomb of Boaz, Ala.; sister, Lori Moody of Texas; brother, 
David Holcomb of Texas; nephew, Chad Moody. Interment will follow at 
Westwood Gardens.

Mrs. Irma Hudene Curl Higgs, age 69, of Locust Grove, Ga. died Feb. 13, 2006 
at Crawford Long Hospital. Mrs. Higgs was born Aug. 9, 1936 in Swainsboro, 
the daughter of the late Mattie Lavada Kight and Hubert Edward Curl. She 
was a member of Phillippi Baptist Church, worked in real estate for 25 years 
working with Jim Dorminy Realty, Caldwell Banker and ReMax. She enjoyed her 
family and friends and working in her flower garden. Her daughter Linda Higgs 
Bryant preceded Mrs. Higgs in death. Survivors are her husband Winston Higgs 
of Locust Grove; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Debbie Higgs of Locust 
Grove; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Debbie Higgs of Locust Grove; 
grandchildren, Chrissy Bryand of Atlanta and Jessica Higgs of Alabama; 
great grandchild, Caylee Asberry of Alabama; sisters and brothers-in-law, 
Joyce and Wyndall Skipper of Brandon, Fla., Frances and Charles Murphy of 
New Smyrna Beach, Fla. and Marcia Curl of Seffner, Fla.; several nieces

CRANE, RUBY LOUISE MASON
Mrs. Ruby Louise Mason Crane, age 99, of McDonough, Ga. died Feb. 13, 2006. 
Mrs. Crane was born Oct. 14, 1906 in Henry County. the daughter of the 
late Eva Crowell Mason and Otis Mason. Mrs. Crane was enjoyed her family 
and especially her grandchildren. Her husband, William Taft Crane Sr. 
who died in 1979, preceded her in death. Survivors are her son and 
daughter-in-law, William Taft Crane Jr. and Celeste of McDonough; 
grandchildren, William T. Crane III of McDonough and Carol Irene Crane 
of Leland, N.C.; sisters-in-law Edna Mason of McDonough and Dale Mason 
of Locust Grove. Interment at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. 

RAGAN, CLAIRE SIMS
Claire Sims Ragan, 65 of Hampton, Ga., passed away on Monday, Feb. 13, 2006. 
Mrs. Ragan was an active member of Forest Primitive Baptist Church in 
Forest Park, Ga.  She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, 
Joel T. Ragan, two daughters, Donna Marie Ragan Moseley and husband Asa 
C. Moseley, Jr. and Judith Kimberly Ragan; sisters, Dorothy Ray, Joy 
Gillespie, B. J. Davis and Cathy Sims; brothers, Jerry Sims, Gene Sims, 
Henry Sims, Mike Sims and Steve Sims; grandchildren, Rachel Milton, 
Emily Milton, Thomas Milton, Matthew Milton, Elizabeth Moseley, Jonathan 
Moseley and Asa Moseley III.  Mrs. Ragan was preceded in death by two 
brothers, Willie Sims and George Sims.

MYERS, VELMA MILLER
Mrs. Velma Miller Myers, age 97, of Locust Grove, Ga., died Feb. 14, 2006. 
Mrs. Myers was born Jan. 14, 1909 in Henry County, the daughter of the 
late Lillie Mae Kelley and William Wood Miller. She was a member of New 
Hope United Methodist Church serving in various programs and a member of 
the United Methodist Women. She retired as a phone operator for Southern 
Bell. Her husband, Wilson F. Myers, preceded Mrs. Myers in death in 
March of 2001. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral 
services at New Hope United Methodist Church.

McCART, RAYMOND M.
Mr. Raymond M. McCart, age 70, of McDonough, passed away Wednesday, 
Feb. 15, 2006 at Newton Medical Center. Raymond was born Oct. 22, 1935 
in Newton County to the late Bruce and Vera Moss McCart. He served his 
country in the U.S. Army, was retired from General Motors, and was an 
avid farmer. He was a member of Philippi Baptist Church where he served as 
Deacon for 40 years.  Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Peggy 
Wright McCart; sons, Donald and Barry McCart all of McDonough; grandchildren, 
Amanda, Sarah, and Alex McCart, Billy Alongi and Trea Bone; sister, 
Dorothy Lee Tribble of Tenn.; brothers and sisters in law, James and 
Betty McCart of McDonough, Jack and Tiny McCart of Jackson; step-mother, 
Willie Lou McCart of Jackson.  Interment will follow at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial 
Park. 

CARTER, CAROLYN STARR
Carolyn Starr Carter, age 79, of Stockbridge died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006. 
She was born in Morrow to the late Jesse A. and Georgia Brown Starr. Mrs. 
Carter loved baseball and was an avid Braves fan. She played basketball in 
high school, and loved to bowl in her younger years. Mrs. Carter was preceded 
in death by her husband, James Oland Carter and daughter, Angela Lynn Carter. 
She is survived by her son, Timothy (Cheri) Carter, Stockbridge; sister, 
Marie (James) Johnson Starr, Morrow; brother, Harold (June) Starr, Rex; 
and four nieces and two nephews. Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Baptist 
Church cemetery.

Jo Anne Turner McKenzie passed away Feb. 16, 2006.  She is survived by her 
husband of 47 years, Robert McKenzie of Conley; son, Daryl McKenzie of Conley; 
daughter, Vanessa Maddox (David) of Hot Springs, Ariz.; three grandchildren, 
Josh Maddox, Conley; Andrew Maddox and Lauren Maddox, Hot Springs, Ariz.; 
mother in law, Katie McKenzie; sisters, Eva Covington, Woodstock, Colleen 
Dean, Lithia Springs and Shirley Standridge, Stockbridge. She was preceded 
in death by her parents, Evie and Harley Turner; sister, Velma Cain and 
brothers, Harley Jr. and Clarence Turner. Interment AT Fairview Memorial
Gardens.

BARTLETT, THOMAS RANDALL "RANDY"
Thomas Randall “Randy” Bartlett of Rex passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006 
at Southern Regional Medical Center.  Survivors include his wife, Becky Yvonne 
Bartlett of Rex; sons, Lee R. Bartlett and Wade R. Bartlett of Rex; brother, 
Wayne Bartlett, Marietta; nephews, Bruce and Stephen Bartlett and families.
Interment at Sherwood Memorial Park. 

GILLEY, TONY
Mr. Tony Gilley, age 60, of Alpharetta, Ga., died suddenly Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006.
He was born in Cedartown, Ga., on Dec. 5, 1945. He obtained his masters 
degree in engineering at the University of Tennessee. In his career he 
was awarded the Young Engineer of the year award, active in the restoration 
of Atlanta’s Fox Theater, participated in the revitalization of Stone Mountain 
Park and has been president of the Georgia Chapter of Professional Engineers. 
In what little spare time he had, he enjoyed volunteering at Chastain Horse 
Park, the homeless shelters and was an advocate for Hosea Williams Feed the 
Hungry. His passion is his work, family and friends. One of his favorite sayings 
was “Life is not about the breaths you take but the moments that take your breath 
away.” Mr. Gilley is survived by his children, Pam Gilley, Andy Gilley, Stephen 
Gilley; grandsons, Jake and Gage Gilley; mother, Eunice Medlin Gilley; former 
spouse, Catherine Gilley; siblings, Danny Gilley, Veronica Crockett, Paula 
Dorsey, Jerry Gilley, Romelle Wells, Cynthia Maner, Craig Gilley, Hank Gilley, 
Ricky Cagle; and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment at Piney Grove Church 
of Christ Cemetery in Jasper, Ga.

are her son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Charlotte Hinote of Brewton, Ala.; 
daughters and sons-in-law, Adrienne and Mike Balliviero of Belle Chase, La., 
Lisa Marie and Sal Meranto of Tyler Town, Miss., Christina and Mark Bladsacker

Inez Raines, age 87, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006. She is survived 
by her son, Larry Raines and wife Jeannie of McDonough, daughter, Yvonne 
Newsome and husband Grady of Jonesboro, four grandchildren, and seven 
great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Clara Sweat 
of Forest Park and Dessie Sweat of Stockbridge.

STEPHENS, ERNESTINE HARPER
Ernestine Harper Stephens, age 85, of McDonough, GA died Monday, February 20, 2006. 
She was born in Atlanta, GA to the late Thomas E. and Rhoda Gorham Harper, 
Sr. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Hoyt Stephens and 
sister, Mamie Anthony. Mrs. Stephens was a member of Salem Baptist Church. 
She taught Sunday school for over 30 years and served on many different 
committees. She was a woman of compassion, visiting the nursing homes,

a member of and served as chair person with the Southern Baptist Women’s 
Missionary Union. Se was a talented woman who loved to work with her hands, 
crocheting, knitting, sewing, quilting, making ceramics, and other crafts. 
She was an avid gardener and great southern cook who enjoyed cooking for 
others. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. 
Most important to her was her family, and serving the Lord. From the moment 
she met Jesus, she longed to see His face and today her faith is sight.
Mrs. Stephens is survived by daughters, Sandra Elaine Williams, Jasper, 
GA, Dianne Wilson, Loganville, GA; sons, Stan (Barbara) Stephens, Locust 
Grove, John Mark Stephens, McDonough, GA; grandchildren, Joseph Williams, 
Amy Williams, Skyler Denton, Christopher Lewis, Melanie LeClair, Shelly 
Sowell, Jessica Young, Shanna Powell, Chadd Hilty and Jaremy Hilty; 18 
great grandchildren, sister, Margaret Jordan, Stockbridge, GA and brother, 
Thomas Harper, Dawsonville, GA.  Interment at Fairview Memorial Gardens. 

MORTON, IRENE I.
Mrs. Irene I. Morton, age 85, of Hampton, Georgia passed away Monday, 
February 20, 2006 at the Spalding Convalescent Center in Griffin 
following a brief illness.  Mrs. Morton was a member of First Baptist Church 
of Hampton. She is preceded in death by her husband, William E. Morton 
in 1995; three children, Buddy and Sissy Tuttle and Barbara Ann Tuttle; 
four brothers, and two sisters.  She is survived by six sons, Gary Tuttle 
of Georgia, Joseph Tuttle of Tennessee, Jeffery Morton, William Morton, 
Charles Tuttle and William Tuttle all of Indiana; 16 grandchildren; 
twenty-five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Morton 
was born in April 3, 1920 in South Bend, Indiana. After living 60 years 
in the Indianapolis area, she relocated to Georgia in 1995 residing at the 
Baptist Inn in Stockbridge, Georgia. She was a loving and devoted wife, 
mother and homemaker. She enjoyed reading, quilting and old movies.
Mrs. Morton will be buried in Fairland, Indiana. 

MAUK, KIM GORDON
Kim Gordon Mauk, age 43, of Hampton, Ga., died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006. 
He was born in Atlanta, Ga., to Ray Gordon and Jeanette Katherine Smith Mauk. 
Mr. Mauk enjoyed fixing and restoring cars, fishing, 4 wheeling, 
water sports and loved coaching his children in sports and enjoyed life
to the fullest. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and a 
friend to many. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Gordon Maulk. 
Mr. Mauk worked for Terry Cullen Southern Chevrolet in Jonesboro.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne (Mandy) Elizabeth Mauk; son, Matthew 
Gordon Mauk; daughter, Katie Elizabeth Mauk all of Hampton; mother, 
Jeanette Katherine Mauk, of Hampton; brother, Terry Ray (Jan) Mauk, Delray,

Mrs. Irene Hudson Rape Cason, age 95, of McDonough, GA died February 21, 2006. 
Mrs. Cason was born April 18, 1911 in White Plains, AL the daughter of 
the late Elizabeth Fite and Ulysses Grant Hudson. She was a member of the 
Locust Grove First Baptist Church, served as a worthy matron in the Hillpatrick 
Eastern Star, a member of the Moose Lodge, Farm Bureau and numerous other 
civic organizations serving Henry County. She enjoyed her family, friends, 
farming and working in her flower garden. She was preceded in death by a 
daughter, Betty Ann Rape, husbands, J. Andy Rape and Lawton B. Cason.  Survivors 
are her son, Harold H. Rape of McDonough; grandchildren, Phyllis Reeves, 
Allen and Barbara Rape of McDonough; great grandchildren, Stephanie Steele, 
Katie Steele, Gus Steele, Andrew Rape and Tyler Rape; nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in the Locust Grove Cemetery. 

MANGHAM, EMILY CAROLINE FARRAR
Mrs. Emily Caroline Farrar Mangham, age 70, of McDonough, Ga. died February 21, 2006 
at Sacred Journey Hospice. Mrs. Mangham was born September 26, 1935 in Butts 
County the daughter of the late Frances Louise Woodward and Marvin Bryant Farrar. 
She was a member of Timberridge Presbyterian Church, retired with 33 years 
as a head teller with Sun Trust Bank. She enjoyed her family, shopping for 
clothes, jewelry and traveling. She was preceded in death by her husband, 
Jackie Windell Mangham in 1992.  Survivors are her children, Robert F. Mangham 
of Cumming, Susan and Ernie Powell of McDonough; sister, June Farrar of 
Lithonia; grandchildren, April M. Wilkinson of Clermont, FL, Crystal C. Bing 
of Locust Grove, Amber M. Allen of Hoschton, GA, and Bryant E. Bond of McDonough;

Shelia Williams Bloomberg, age 60, of Panama City Beach, Fla., died Jan. 21, 2006

HORNSBY, CLIFFORD LEONARD
Mr. Clifford Leonard Hornsby, age 87, of Locust Grove, GA died February 22, 2006. 
Mr. Hornsby was born August 1, 1918 in Atlanta, GA the son of the late Mary 
Margaret Romport and William Leonard Hornsby. He was preceded in death by his 
wife, Clara Virginia Chambers Hornsby in 1994. Mr. Hornsby was known by his 
family and friends as Pa and Pop. He owned Herren Candy Company, retired 
with 17 years of service as maintenance over operations of numerous cemeteries 
in the Atlanta area. He served his county in the US Army during WWII in the 
10th Mountain Division.  He is survived by children, Clifford Hornsby and wife 
Mary Frances of Atlanta, Patricia Hensley of Locust Grove and Wayne Hornsby 
of Locust Grove; Grandchildren, Lane Henley, Kevin Hensley, Wendy Womac, Lee 
Hornsby, Brian Hensley, Craig Hensley and Kellie Hornsby; eight great 
granddaughters; sister, Evelyn Welch and husband Louis of Fayetteville; sisters 
and brothers-in-law, Arthur and Linda Chamber of Duluth, Sarah Chamber of 
Decatur, Don Hudnall of St. Petersburg, FL and Marcella Chambers of Atlanta; 
nieces and nephews.  Interment will be at Haisten Memorial Park. 

SCOTT, JAMES "BURCH"
Mr. James “Burch” Scott, age 76 of Jackson passed away Feb. 22, 2006. He was 
born Nov. 20, 1929 in Richmond County, Ga., to the late James Lindsey Scott, 
Jr. and Margaret Burch Scott. He was preceded in death by brothers, Richard 
and James Scott; mother of his children, Elsie Weatherford Scott; and his 
second wife, Helen Jones Scott. Burch was married to Elsie for 25 years and 
was a loving husband and father. They resided in Cobb County. Burch served 
his country in the U.S. Navy; was a member of the Shriner’s for over 50 years; 
and worked as a sales representative for ITT Grinnell and U.S. Pipe & Foundry. 
He remained in the piping supply business working for J.E. Lovern Construction, 
Barge -Wagner and was also self-employed, drafting designs for county municipal 
water treatment plants. Survivors include his children, James B. Scott, Jr. 
and wife Mary Scott, Fred Garrett Scott, Ann Rowell and husband Steven Rowell, 
Nancy Russell and husband Robby Russell; grandchildren, Brittany and Brannon 
Scott, Lauren Rowell, Shelley Rodgers, Whitney and Robby Russell; brother, Lloyd Scott.

WORTHAM, WILLIAM H. "BILLY"
Mr. William H. “Billy” Wortham, age 77 of McDonough, formerly of Jonesboro 
passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006 at Piedmont Hospital. He was born Sept.13, 1928 
in Etowah County, Ala. to the late William Homer Wortham and Mary Juel 
Tolbert Wortham Upshaw. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, John 
Upshaw and sister, Ann Duffy. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force 
during the Korean War, was a graduate of Tech High School class of 1947, 
and had been employed with Coca-Cola Bottling, Pepsi-Cola Bottling, and Ultra 
Vend. Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Joyce Logan Wortham; 
daughters, Kathryn and Greg Brown, Sandra and Andrew Silbernagel; granddaughters, 
Lauren and Julia Brown, Savannah, Emily, and Gracie Silbernagel; and his Shelti, 
Chip. Interment at Jackson City Cemetery. 

MULLIS, WINNIE HOBBS
Winnie Hobbs Mullis, age 91, of Stockbridge died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006. 
She was born in Dexter to the late John Thomas and Clara Jane Shepherd Hobbs. 
While living in Georgia, Mrs. Mullis attended the Lighthouse Community Baptist 
Church on East Atlanta Road in Stockbridge. She was a member of the Golden 
Hearts Sunday School Class in Fernandina Beach, Fla. Mrs. Mullis enjoyed 
fishing, gardening, quilting, cooking and caring for others. She was a granny 
to everyone she came in contact with and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, 
great grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by husband, Joseph B. 
Mullis; son, Travis Eugene Mullis; and daughter, Mary Helen Lyons.  She is survived 
by her daughters, Iris (Kenneth) Dockery and Barbara (Eugene) Moore-Bailey both 
of Stockbridge, Ga.; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, and 
several nieces and nephews.  Interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Dexter. 

BOELSTERLI, WILLI
Mr. Willi Boelsterli, age 68, of Hampton, passed away Feb. 23, 2006. 
He was born May 15, 1937 in Switzerland to the late Wilhelm and Nina Mosli 
Boelsterli. He served in the Swiss Army, worked for Eastern Airlines for 19 
years, retired from Roadway Trucking, and was a member of Liberty 
Hill Baptist Church. He loved gardening and photography. Survivors include 
his wife, Jewel Boelsterli of Hampton; daughter Katrina and Martin Howard 
of Mt. Shasta, Calif.; son, Michael and Melanie Boelsterli of Hampton; 
grandchildren, Morgan and Ethan Boelsterli; brothers, Kurt and Margrit 
Boelsterli and Ruedi and Elsi Boelsterli of Switzerland. Interment at 
Liberty Hill Baptist Church cemetery.

Deborah Adamson, age 53, of Locust Grove, Ga. died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006. 
She was born in College Park, Ga. to James Hulan and Evelyn Florine Mann 
Grizzard. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed life 
with her family. Mrs. Adamson is survived by her husband, James Stephen Adamson 
of Locust Grove; children, Brad Adamson of Covington, Shelley Baker of Hampton 
and Kerri Williams of Locust Grove; brother, Phil Grizzard of Jonesboro; sister, 
Betty Greer of Austell; and seven grandchildren. Interment at Eastlawn Memorial 
Gardens.

PRITCHETT, JAMES H.
Mr. James H. Pritchett, age 81, of McDonough, passed away Feb. 25, 2006 
at Portsbridge Hospice in Conyers. He was born March 15, 1924 in Bibb 
County, Ga., to the late James Franklin and Lois Cobb Pritchett. He was 
preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Bryson. He served his country 
in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was wounded at Iwo Jima. 
He retired after 40 years with Bristol-Meyers and was a member of St. 
James the Apostle Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, 
Alice Pritchett of McDonough; son, Michael and Janice Pritchett of McDonough; 
grandchildren, Jennifer and Matthew Pritchett; brother, Bob Pritchett of 
Louisiana; son-in-law, Jerry Bryson of Lawrenceville; nieces and nephews. 
Interment at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker. 

THACKER, DETA WHITE
Deta White Thacker, age 46, of Peachtree City, Georgia, passed away on 
Saturday, February 25, 2006, after battling cancer and leukemia for over 
6 1/2 years. Deta inspired her family and friends with her courage, and 
her unconquered spirit. Never complaining, her constant concern was that 
she not cause her family to suffer because of her disease; her hope 
was that she would see her children grow to adults. She taught her family 
to be brave and how to love. We will always cherish the short time 
she was with us, and she will always be in our hearts.  Deta was the 
youngest of three daughters born to Shirley and George (deceased) White 
of Hampton, Georgia.She graduated from Henry County High School and 
later attended Clayton State University. A 20-year employee of Bank 
of America, Deta appreciated wonderful friendships with her colleagues 
and was touched by their caring and support during her illness.  Deta 
moved to Fayette County in 1986, and lived in Peachtree City.  She is 
survived by her husband, John, and daughters Alexandra Kate Thacker, 18, 
and Blythe Warner Thacker, 15. Family survivors include her mother, 
Shirley White; her two sisters and husbands; Deborah Augustine (Don); 
Danah Cagliani (Joe); nephews, Jarrett Peurifoy, Joshua Cagliani, Kyle 
Cagliani; sister-in-law Janice Elliott (Robert); nieces Cheryl 
Elliott and Kaitlin Elliott and nephew, Steven Elliott. Interment 
Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville, Georgia.

Mrs. Grace Lois Lovett Summerlin, age 90 of Locust Grove passed away 
Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006 at Westbury Nursing Home in Jackson. Mrs. Summerlin
was born June 25, 1915 in Wrightsville, GA to the late Erwin A. and Lena 
Parker Lovett. She was a beautician for many years.  Survivors include 
her children, Judy and Bill Hudson of Locust Grove, Betty Grace Barker of 
Sandersville, Wayne and Lucy Summerlin of Norcross; 14 grandchildren, 
32 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. Interment 
at Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville.

Gary Brooks, age 48, of Stockbridge died Monday, February 27, 2006. He 
was born in Atlanta to the late John D. and Carolyn Grimes Lord.  Mr. 
Brooks is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sherry D. Brooks, Stockbridge; 
son, Gary Michael Brooks, Jr., Stockbridge; daughter, Carolyn Brooks, 
Stockbridge; sisters, Kay (Luke) Phillips, Hampton; Wanda (Dale) McAuliffe, 
Jackson; Sharon (Glenn) Dukes, Ariz.,; and several nieces and nephews.
Interment at the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery. 

NUTT, JAMES HAROLD, JR.
Mr. James Harold Nutt, Jr., age 84, of Luella died Feb. 27, 2006 at 
Emory University Hospital. He was born March 9, 1921 in Henry County 
the son of the late Frances Dorsey and James Harold Nutt Sr. Mr. Nutt 
was a life time farmer who was recognized for his soil conservation 
practices, having been one of the pioneers of no-till planting in Henry 
County. He was also among the first farmers in the region to plant 
soybeans. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and was an excellent 
cook. He attended the University of Georgia and Gordon Military Academy. 
He served his country for four years as a US Naval Merchant Marine during 
WWII. Mr. Nutt was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Maddox Nutt in 
March of 2005.  Survivors are his children, Janis Nutt and Mitchell Rapp 
of Raleigh, N.C., Jim and Maria Nutt of Marietta, John Nutt and Lesa Payne 
of Locust Grove; daughter-in-law, Pam Nutt of Locust Grove; grandchildren, 
Patrick and Kim Nutt, Jared Nutt, Laurin Nutt, Joe Nutt and Charlotte Nutt; 
two great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Loyd Chiles 
of Grapeland, Texas; sister-in-law, Sara Goldenberg of Manchester; several 
nieces and nephews. Interment at the McDonough City Cemetery. 

ADDINGTON, BILLY EDWARDS
Mr. Billy Addington passed away on Monday, Feb. 27, 2006.  Interment Forest 
Hills Memorial Gardens.  He leaves to cherish his memories a loving 
wife Dianne Addington, a devoted grandson Brandon Hunt and other 
relatives and friends.

RUSSELL, CLARENCE SHERMAN
Mr. Clarence Sherman Russell Jr., age 78, of Hampton, died Feb. 28, 2006 
at Portsbridge Hospice. Mr. Russell was born Dec. 10, 1927 in Fulton County 
the son of the late Clara Mae Pierce and Clarence Sherman Russell 
Sr. Mr. Russell owned and operated Russell’s Florist in Hampton for years. 
He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He 
enjoyed traveling, fishing and his flower shop. His wife, Doris Howell 
Russell preceded him in death in 2002.  Survivors are his brothers and 
sisters-in-law, Clifford W. and Helen Russell of Hampton and Charles and 
Ayako Russell of Blackjack, Mo.; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Roger 
Betsill of Hampton and several nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Berea
Cemetery in Hampton. 

PHILLIPS, FRANCES B.
Frances B. Phillips, age 80, of McDonough, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006. 
She was born in East Point to the late John Frank and Jonnie Archer Brown. 
She was a resident of McDonough for 60 years and was a member of 
McDonough Covenant Fellowship, now Southside Christian Fellowship.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by her daughter, Joan Schweitzer, Canton; son, 
Dennis Phillips, Lawrencevile; eight grandchildren, and three great-
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Jackson 
Phillips in 1986 and son, Kenny Phillips in 1998. Interment at Bethany 
Baptist Church Cemetery.
