McMILLAN, BETHEL JR.
Mr. Bethel McMillan, Jr., age 76, of McDonough, passed away 
Friday, Dec. 2, 2205 at the Portsbridge Hospice in Conyers.
He was born Nov. 11, 1929 in Nashville, Ga. to the late Bethel 
McMillan, Sr. and Abbie Gale Alexander McMillan. He served 
his country in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War and 
was retired from the Federal National Civil Service Mortgage 
and was of Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, was a devoted 
husband, father and grandfather who was always active with 
his children in their activities at school and sporting events.  
Survivors include his wife, Martha McMillan of 
McDonough; children, Lori and Ron Ridenour of Lawrenceville, 
Mike and Kelly McMillan of Bethlehem and Keith and Charlotte 
McMillan of Covington; grandchildren, Caryn, Jason, Michael, 
Stephen, Kylie, Courtney and Brooke; great grandchild, 
Patrick; sisters, Ruby Rutherford of Douglas and Emily Dawkins 
of Tallahassee, Fla.; brother, Raymond McMillan of Atlanta; 
nieces and nephews.

SIMS, RALPH R.
Ralph R. Sims, age 92, of Stockbridge, Ga., died Saturday, 
Dec. 3, 2005.  He was born in Copperhill, Tenn. to the late 
Alfred C. and Missouri Newman Sims. Mr. Sims was a member 
of The Rock Baptist Church, a retired Civil Service employee 
and an Army veteran. He was a loving husband, father and 
grandfather, a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed helping others.
Brothers, Buford Sims and Taft Sims, sister Johnny Sims 
and son-in-law Lyle Hanson, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Sims is survived by his wife, Annie Sarah Sims, of 
Stockbridge; son, Wally (Brenda) Sims of Norcross; daughters, 
Sarah (Bobby) Gann of Stockbridge, Sammie (Jerry) Anderson of 
Senoia, Ga., Sandra Hanson of Morganton, Ga.; sister, Pauline 
Smith of Chipley, Fla.  Interment will follow at The Rock 
Baptist Church Cemetery. 

GOLDHAGEN, LU
Lu Goldhagen, 74, the director of the Multi-Disciplinary 
Evaluation and Consulting Center at Florida State University, 
died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, 
Fla. of complications following surgery.  She was the very 
beloved wife of Philip Goldhagen. Louise Robertson was born 
April 10, 1931, to Ruby Denney Robertson and Ray Robertson of
Hampton, Ga. She was the granddaughter of Dora Lee Ferrell 
Denney and Walter Denney. A graduate of the State University 
of West Georgia in Carrollton, she went on to earn her master's 
degree from the University of Georgia in Athens and completed 
course work for her doctorate at the University of Alabama. 
A lifelong educator, she worked for the Georgia Department 
of Education, the former U.S. Office of Education and the 
school district in Volusia County. She taught and coached 
basketball at a number of elementary and junior high schools. 
Also during her years as a teacher, she taught at Stetson 
University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the 
University of Minnesota, the University of Alabama, 
the University of Nevada at Reno, the University of Colorado 
in Denver, the University of Miami and Atlanta University.
She worked for the Daytona Beach News Journal during the 
early 1970s, but returned to education as an administrator 
at Florida State University. During her 24 years there, she 
helped countless families as an advocate for students. She 
managed the Psychology Clinic at FSU and then founded and 
ran the university's Multi-Disciplinary Center until her 
retirement in 1997.  Lu was happy with her life. She was 
happy in her marriage, happy with her daughters and their 
sons. She was happy with her work, doing what she loved: 
helping people. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She loved 
people and people loved her. An inveterate Scrabble and bridge 
player, she was happiest when at home with her husband and 
family, with a good book to read and a pussycat on her lap.
Survivors include her husband, Phil Goldhagen of Tallahassee; 
two daughters, Kitty Boswell-Herda (and husband Craig) of 
Jacksonville and Sanlin Cory (and husband Greg) of San 
Francisco; and two grandsons, Egan Green of Jacksonville 
and Haden Cory of San Francisco.

ALMAND, BEATRICE FRANCES
Beatrice Frances Almand, age 87, of Ellenwood, passed away 
Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005.  She was born Dec. 31, 1919 in Columbia, 
S.C. She was preceded in death by husband Ray F. Almand.
Survivors include son, Ray A. Almand (Dalynda) of Hampton; 
daughter, Patricia Nicholas (Steve) of Atlanta; sisters, Fay 
Evatt of Lithonia, Sarah Schulte of New York City, Carolyn 
Hoffner of Savannah; brother, John Eleazer of Houston, Texas; 
grandchildren, Raymond, Jessica and Jonathan of Decatur, 
Natalie Hester of Hampton; nephew, Dan Evatt (Kim) and grand 
nephew Graham.

UNDERWOOD, ELAINE DOSTER
Mrs. Elaine Doster Underwood, age 62, of Locust Grove died 
Dec. 5, 2005 at Emory University Hospital.  Mrs. Underwood 
was born Oct. 10, 1943 in Jackson County, the daughter of 
the late Melvie Idelle Stepp and Clyde Doster. She was also 
preceded in death by her husband Johnny Bradford Underwood 
and a brother Gene Doster.  Mrs. Underwood was a member of 
Eagle's Landing Baptist Church, a dedicated Christian lady 
who enjoyed being a caregiver and giving of herself 
to others through her crafts and services.  She is survived 
by children, Julie and Butch Moore of Locust Grove and 
John and Lana Underwood of Hampton; grandchildren, Amanda 
Lee, Katie Moore, John Moore and Julia Underwood; sisters, 
Margaret Long and Marilyn Kesler; several nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. 

PINKNEY, JOSEPH PRICE
Joseph Pinkney (J.P.) Price, 90, died at his home in McDonough 
on Dec.5, 2005. Mr. Price, son of Otis Weyman and Bertha O'Lillian 
Rodgers Price, was born on Aug. 24, 1915, in Locust Grove. He 
and his wife, Eugenia (Jean) Turner Price were married sixty-four 
years.  Mr. Price was a veteran of World War II, having served 
in the European Theatre of Operations. He was a member of 
the American Legion Post 55 for forty-one years and was employed 
by Continental Insurance Company in Atlanta. In 1962, Mr. Price 
was elected to the McDonough City Council and served as a member 
for 14 years. He was a founding director of the Founder's 
Guaranty Bank (now BB&T) in McDonough. Mr. Price was a member
of the McDonough First United Methodist Church, a member of 
the United Methodist Men and the Samaritan Sunday School Class. 
He was a Sunday School teacher for over sixty years. Mr. Price 
served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Shingleroof 
Methodist Campground from 1974 until 1992, having been a trustee 
since 1960. In 2000, he was the Griffin District's lay recipient 
of the Harry Denman Award for Evangelism.  Survivors include 
his wife, Eugenia Turner Price, daughter and son-in-law, Jane 
and Joe Claxton of Macon, son and daughter-in-law, Joe and 
Shirley Price of Jacksonville, Fla., and daughter, Janis Eugenia 
Price of McDonough; grandchildren, Joseph Buford Claxton of 
Macon, Anne Claxton Krabacher, and her husband Greg Krabacher 
of Columbus, Ohio; siblings and in-laws: Leola Price Durden of 
McDonough, Lula Mae Price Ward of Luella, Dannie Sue and Bud 
Junkins of Hueytown, Ala.; Merill and Charlotte Price of Jackson 
and many nieces and nephews. His brothers W. Rodgers Price 
and Rabun A. Price preceded him in death.  Interment will 
follow at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park.

PARSONS, ANNIE LOIS
Annie Lois Parsons, 63, of Atlanta, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Earl Parsons; son, 
Brad Parsons and wife Rhonda and her daughter, Morgan of Covington; 
brothers, Lee Pierce of S.C., Milton Pierce of Lawrenceville; 
sisters, Patricia Morales of SC, Juanita Beaver of Stockbridge; 
and many nieces and nephews.

THOMPSON, CLIFTON LLOYD
Clifton Lloyd Thompson, age 61, of Locust Grove died Dec. 5, 2005.
Survivors include his son, Andy Thompson, Bainbridge; son, Tracy 
Thompson and wife Beth, North, S.C; daughters: Brittany and Tiffany 
Thompson, Stockbridge; three grandchildren; sisters: Betty, 
Frances, Phyllis and Sarah; many nieces and nephews. Interment 
at Memorial Gardens in Griffin.

ALFORD, NELDA JUNE
Nelda June Alford, 73, of Stockbridge, died Dec. 5, 2005.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Alford; daughters, Linda 
LaTour, Myrtle Johnson, Jerri Johnson, Audrey Caldwell and Lori 
Sawyer; son, Mark Alford; 22 grandchildren and many great 
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughters, 
Marilyn Vines and Valerie Crews.  Interment to follow at Fairview 
Memorial Gardens.

EDWARDS, BILLIE
Mrs. Billie Edwards, age 92, of Griffin, passed away Tuesday, 
Dec. 6, 2005 at Sunbridge Care and Rehab.  Mrs. Edwards was 
born Sept. 2, 1913 in Jenkinsburg to the late John Wesley 
Harper and the late Alberta Andrews Harper. She is preceded 
in death by her husband, George Nelson Edwards and daughter, 
Peggy Brown. Mrs. Edwards was a member of Hampton Methodist 
Church were she was a member of the choir, the Carrilu Circle 
and a member of the Sweet Briar Garden Club. Mrs. Edwards was 
an avid bridge player. She retired as an accountant with 
Southern States.  Survivors include, sons and daughter-in-laws, 
John and Gail Edwards of Hampton, Richard and Beverly Edwards 
of Fairburn; sister-in-law, Jimmy Brown of Hampton; Eight 
grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and 
nephews.  Interment will follow at Berea Cemetery.

Anna Marie Franklin, age 65, of Stockbridge passed away Dec. 7, 2005.
Mrs. Franklin is a member of the North Henry Baptists Church. 
Mrs. Franklin is predeceased by her husband Lawrence D. Franklin. 
She is survived by her daughter Christine & Kendall Hamilton 
of Vidalia; sons David and Noel Franklin of Gainsville, Joe & 
Angela Franklin of Stockbridge, Rick & Seresa of Stockbridge; 
Ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother Kay Smith 
of Plainfield, Ind.; sisters, Barbara Mosier of Camby Ind., 
Judy Bartley of Plainfield, Ind.; brother, William Smith of 
Plainfield, Ind. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. 

RUTLEDGE, DON
Don Rutledge, age 73, of McDonough died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005. 
He was born in Fairburn to the late Theo and Bessie Milam Rutledge. 
Mr. Rutledge was a member of the Southern Crescent Baptist Church 
and a veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing and working 
at the church.  Mr. Rutledge is survived by his wife, Anita, 
McDonough; daughters, Wendy Rutledge, McDonough, Kyna (Ken) 
White, Dalton; Donna Price, Albany; son, Chad Rutledge, Hampton: 
and two grandchildren. Entombment will follow at the Forest 
Hills Memorial Gardens.

DANIEL, MAUREEN ANDREWS
Mrs. Maureen Andrews Daniel, age 91, of Hampton, passed away 
Dec. 8, 2005 at the Cornerstone Health and Rehabilitation. Mrs. 
Daniel was born Nov. 20, 1914 in Henry County to the late Stella 
Barnett and Drew Andrews. She was preceded in death by her husband, 
J. H. Daniel, Sr., and a son, J. H. Daniel, Jr. She was a member 
of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.  Survivors include son and daughters 
in law, Drew and Jean W. Daniel of Hampton, Martha O. Daniel of 
Jonesboro; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and two 
great great grandchildren.  Graveside funeral services will be at
the Berea Cemetery in Hampton.

GUETTLER, MARGARET
Mrs. Margaret Guettler of Stockbridge passed away Monday, 
December 9, 2005 at the age of 94. Mrs. Guettler is survived 
by her sons, William and Ellen Guettler, Richard and Jean 
Guettler; grandchildren, Richard M. Guettler, Steven W. 
Guettler and Mary Ellen Prather; 6 great-grandchildren.

SEWELL, ETHEL W.
Ethel W. Sewell, age 93, of Jonesboro, passed away on Friday, 
Dec. 9, 2005. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles 
Hue Sewell and son, Curtis Stinson. She was a member of Bethel 
Baptist Church.  She is survived by her son, Bob Dee of Reno, Nev., 
and daughter-in-law, Lou Ellen Stinson of Morrow; six grandchildren; 
five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three 
sisters; one brother; several step-children; step-grandchildren; 
step-great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at Jonesboro City Cemetery. 

HUBBARD, MILDRED
Mildred Hubbard, age 80, of McDonough passed away on Dec. 9, 2005.
She was born March 26, 1925, in Henry County, the daughter of the 
late William Eugene and Mary Eunice Oglesby. She was preceded in 
death by her husbands, William Harold Craig in 1956, and Robert 
Thomas Hubbard in 2001.  She is survived by her daughter, Diane 
C. Pulliam of McDonough; sons and daughters-in-law, Judge Hal 
(Dale) Craig of McDonough and Don (Cheryl) Craig of Decatur. 
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Dr. Patrick Pulliam of 
McDonough, Kelly Pulliam of New York City, Collins Craig Lee 
of McDonough, and Cleveland H. Craig of St. Simons Island, and 
seven great grandchildren. She graduated from McDonough High 
School in 1942 and enjoyed attending her class reunions thereafter. 
Millie belonged to the First Baptist Church of McDonough where 
she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class.  
Interment will be at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. 

AUSTIN, ANN P.
Mrs. Ann P. Austin, age 91, of McDonough, Ga., died Dec. 10, 2005 
at Henry Medical Center. Mrs. Austin known to many as Ann, 
MeMa and sister, was born in Henry County on July 15, 1914, 
the daughter of the late, Cora Almarine Owen and Jesse Hamby 
Phillips. She was a lifetime member of Kelley Presbyterian 
Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post 55 and was the first 
woman bailiff for Henry County Court System serving 55-plus 
years.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great 
grandmother who enjoyed camp meeting at Shingleroof, cooking 
and traveling.  Mrs. Austin was preceded in death by her 
husband James Arthur Austin; brothers, Alton Phillips, 
Lovic Phillips, Charles Phillips and Jack Phillips; sisters, 
Virginia Phillips, Karen Swinney, and Mary Nell Lietch.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Ann and 
Charles Davis of McDonough; grandchildren, Michael and Lynn 
Davis of Calhoun, Fran Davis of Douglasville, and Julie and 
Jeff Fuller of Kennesaw; great grandchildren, Calli and Lyndi 
Rae Davis of Calhoun; sisters, Martha Chick and Betty Latimer 
of Stockbridge; brothers, C.J. “Bud” Phillips of Riverdale 
and Chick Phillips of McDonough; nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park.

FOGG, JESSE
Mr. Jesse Fogg, age 71, of Hampton, Ga., died Dec. 11, 2005 at 
Henry Medical Center.  Mr. Fogg was born Aug. 9, 1934 in Giles 
County, Tenn., the son of the late Mary Ophelia Brock and William 
Thomas Fogg. He served his country in the US Air Force, was a 
member of Lake Cindy Baptist Church, retired from J & J Machine 
Shop and enjoyed raising cattle. He was also preceded in death 
by a brother, Jerome Fogg; sisters, Jerlean Franklin and Ann Jones.
Survivors are his loving wife Yukiko Fogg of Hampton; brother, 
Wayne Fogg of Toney, Ala.; sisters, Angel Poole of Harvest, Ala., 
and Robbie Longoria of Huntsville; nieces and nephews.

Willis Owen (Buck) Bowen, age 86, of Stockbridge, Ga. died Monday, 
Dec. 12, 2005. He was born in Pearson to James Bennett and Annie 
Laura Lillie Wood Bowen. He served our country with the United 
States Army during World War II.  Mr. Bowen is survived by his 
wife, Polly Bowen, Stockbridge; sons, Willis (Butch) Bowen, Jr., 
wife, Margarett, Dallas, Ga.., Dr. Rick Bowen, wife, Sybil, St. 
Charles, Mo., Phillip Michael (Mike) Bowen, Dallas, Ga., Jesse 
Matthew (Matt), wife, Joni Bowen, Locust Grove, Paul (Mark), 
wife, Amy Bowen, Fayetteville; grandchildren, LeAnne, Marisa, 
Sarah, Natalie, Rhiannon Bowen; step-grandchildren, Jamie,

AVERY, WILLIAM "BILL"
William “Bill” Avery, age 62, of Ellenwood, died Dec. 12, 2005. 
He was a member of First Christian Church of Stockbridge. He 
was an amateur Ham Radio Operator and was retired from Bellsouth 
after 30 years of service.  Survivors include his wife, JoAnne 
Avery; daughter, Deborah Avery and Grandson Holden Parsons, 
all of Ellenwood. 

BLANCHARD, NETTIE R.
Nettie R. Blanchard, age 68, of McDonough, Ga. died Dec. 12, 2005. 
She was born in Evans to the late William Newton and Mary Ellen 
Franklin Tankersley. Nettie was a member of Bethany Baptist 
Church and the Seekers Sunday school class.  Nettie is survived 
by her husband, Randall (Doc) Blanchard, McDonough; son, Randall 
William (Sherry) Blanchard, Fairburn; daughters, Pat (Mike) 
Jones, Hampton, Cheryl (Danny) Conway, McDonough; grandchildren, 
Alaina Blanchard, Andrew Blanchard, Casey Blanchard, Robert

HENDRIX, WALLACE C.
Wallace C. Hendrix, age 78, of Jonesboro, passed away, Dec. 13, 2005.
He was born in Atlanta, March 21, 1927. Mr. Hendrix has lived 
in Jonesboro since 1948. He was a dental technician for 63 years 
and owned and operated Hendrix Dental Laboratory until falling 
ill in August of this year. He was a member of the Jonesboro 
Masonic Lodge No. 87. He has been a Mason for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Florence Cooper Hendrix; 
daughters and sons in law, Pat and Bill Felt of Dahlonega, 
Judy and Sandy Meadows of Stockbridge, Wanda and Jackie Green 
of Fayetteville; daughter, Marci Jackson of Jonesboro; sons 
and daughters in law, Bobby and Darlee Hendrix of Fayetteville, 
Neal and Rose Hendrix of Brooks; brothers, Jimmie Hendrix of 
Covington, Jerry Hendrix of Social Circle, P.D. Hendrix of 
Woodstock, Richard Hendrix of Loganville; 11 grandchildren 
and 13 great grandchildren. Interment Westminster Memorial Gardens.

Herbert Edward Robins, Jr. age 84, of Stockbridge, passed away
Dec.15, 2005. He was a member of Ash Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; son, Eddie and Sherrill of 
McDonough; daughter, Melanie and Bill Powers of Jonesboro; 
grandchildren, Bart Robins, Dr. Daniel Robins, Katie Powers 
and Alex Powers; brother, Bill Robins of College Park; sister, 
Dorothy Lemming of Stockbridge and several nieces and nephews. 
Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

Freta G. Donnelly, age 62, of Stockbridge, Ga. died Dec. 15, 2005. 
She was born in Spencer, Tenn., to the late Elmer James and Pauline 
Geer Bell. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas Bell, 
Eddie Bell, and James Olin Bell; sister-in-law, Hazel Bell; and 
brother-in-law, Homer Thomas.  Mrs. Donnelly is survived by 
her husband, John C. Donnelly, Stockbridge; daughters, Tina L. 
Donnelly, Stockbridge, Tracy (John P.) Jackson, Griffin; grandchildren, 
Chase Jackson, Camden Jackson, Cacin Jackson, Chesni Jackson;

KINLAW, HUGH
Mr. Hugh Kinlaw, 73, of Jonesboro, passed away Dec.15, 2005 at 
his residence.  Surviving are his wife, Iris Kinlaw, son, Michael 
W. Kinlaw of Fayetteville, daughter and son-in-law, Laura and 
Michael Busby of McDonough. Interment is at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

SIMMONS, AUDREY BEATRIC BUCKNER
Mrs. Audrey Beatrice Buckner Simmons, age 95, of Hampton, Ga., died 
Dec. 19, 2005 at Westbury Nursing Home in Jackson, Ga. Mrs. Simmons 
was born March 11, 1910 in Alabama the daughter of the late Marsenia 
Whitley and William Emerson Buckner. She is a member of Hampton First 
Baptist Church and was retired from Hampton Elementary School where 
she was a devoted cook.  She is survived by her husband of 73 years, 
Robert Simmons of Hampton; granddaughter, Tammy and husband Stanley 
McLemore of Hampton and great-granddaughter Brandi Barber of Hampton.
Interment will be at Berea Cemetery in Hampton. 

GILES, THELMA
Thelma Giles, age 80, of Hampton, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2005. 
Mrs. Giles was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lovejoy 
where she was a Sunday School teacher and very active in the Lake 
Talmadge Ladies Club. She worked for the Department of Revenue for 
many years. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a 
host of friends. Preceding her in death was her husband Raymond 
“neighbor” Giles.  Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. 

DANIEL, GLENNIS INEZ CLARK
Mrs. Glennis Inez Clark Daniel, age 85, of Hampton, Ga., died 
Dec. 19, 2005 at Sunbridge Nursing Care in Griffin. Mrs. Daniel 
was born July 1, 1920 in Troup County, the daughter of the late 
Lois Truett and James Marshall Clark. She was a member of Berea 
Christian Church in Hampton. She and her husband retired from their 
Mom and Pop Grocery business in Hampton.  Survivors are her son 
and daughter-in-law, John and Janice Daniel of Hampton; sister, 
Jeanette Virden of Griffin and numerous nieces and nephews. 
Interment at Berea Cemetery in Hampton.

KNIGHT, DAVID WAYNE II
David Wayne Knight II, 24, recently of 253 Sundance Lane, Laramie, 
Wyoming died early Saturday morning, Dec. 17, 2005, as a result of 
a four-wheeler accident near Jenkinsburg, Ga., He was born Aug. 13, 
1981 in Fulton County, Ga. David was a 2000 graduate of Henry County 
High School. David’s hobbies were the Henry County High Rodeo, 
hunting, fishing and riding dirt bikes. David was a finish-carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Lee Ann Mantooth Knight of Laramie, Wyoming; 
parents, David Wayne Knight, Sr. and Pamela Cook Knight of Locust Grove, 
Ga.; brother, Joshua James Knight; grandparents, Frank and Shirley Knight, 
Locust Grove, Ga.; step grandmother, Donna Cook; grandmother, Geneva Croft; 
mother-in-law and father-in-law, Vicki and Randy Mantooth, Locust Grove, Ga.
interment in the Locust Grove Cemetery.

CAMP, KENNETH
Mr. Kenneth Camp, 62, of Hampton, passed away Dec. 19, 2005.  Surviving 
are a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Grant Allison of McDonough; 
son and daughter-in-law, William LeRoy and Sarah Camp of McDonough; 
brother and sister-in-law, Lovell and Mary Camp of Brooks, Ga.; sister 
and brother-in-law Judy and Herbie Miller of Birmingham, Ala.; 
grandchildren, Nathan and Emily Allison of McDonough; and nieces 
and nephews.  Interment at Sherwood Memorial Park.

FREEMAN, LEE DOUGLAS
Lee Douglas Freeman, age 81 of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, 
December 20, 2005.  Mr. Freeman was a World War II veteran and served 
with the Third armor division in North Africa and while recuperating 
in England from his wounds, he received word that the 101st Airborne 
was going to jump into Normandy, France; and since he was Jump Qualified, 
he transferred to the 101st and remained with them the rest of the war 
during which time he was awarded three-purple hearts.  He is survived 
by his loving wife of 63 years, Alice B. Freeman, now living in 
Hampton; sister and brother-in-law, Clarice and Harry Heard of 
Conyers; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Becky Freeman of Jackson; 
daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Danny Morrison of Hampton; 
granddaughters, Stephanie Delatorri of Acworth, Tracy Irons of 
Jacksonville, Katie Phanthavong of Hampton, Hayley Freeman of 
Atlanta, Beth Starling of Jackson, and granddaughter and her husband, 
Mandy and Gary Chandler of McDonough; grandsons, Casey Morrison of 
Hampton, Dustin Morrison of Hampton, DJ Freeman of Jackson, Michael 
Freeman of Suwanee, Mathew Freeman, USMC, Iraq; grandsons and their 
wives Travis and Tammy Morrison of McDonough, Ryan and Rebecca 
Morrison of Fayetteville, and Benjamin and Susan Freeman of 
Hampton; and 15-great-grandchildren.

SHAW, NESBIT W. JR.
Nesbit W. Shaw, Jr., age 63, of Jonesboro, passed away on Thursday, 
Dec. 22, 2005.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Nesbit and 
Winnie Shaw. He is survived by his son, Jeff Shaw of Stockbridge; 
three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brandon and Nicholas Shaw; brother, 
Jimmy Shaw of Jonesboro; two nephews, Bobby Shaw of Hampton and Jerry 
Shaw of Jonesboro; 10 cousins, Lynn Helm, Bobby Montgomery, Margie 
Knight, Rodney, Gail, Carolyn, Robbie and Wayne Farmer, Debbie Galzbreath 
and Melinda Moody.  Mr. Shaw was a self-employed carpenter and specialized 
in construction and remodeling. He was a lover of art and a talented 
artist and wood carver in his own right. He enjoyed some success in 
the sales of his handiwork.

KELLER, BEVERLY ELLEN (KERR)
Mrs. Beverly Ellen (Kerr) Keller, age 66, died Dec. 23, 2005, following 
a brief battle with bone cancer.  She is survived by her husband of 46 
years, Gene L. Keller of Riverdale; a son, Scott A. Keller of Fayetteville; 
a daughter, Leigh K. Sandridge of Monroe; four grandchildren and a great-
grandson. A 28-year resident of Riverdale, Mrs. Keller was employed by 
Clayton Eye Center in Morrow.  interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in 
her hometown of Galion, Ohio.

Carrie Lee Smith, age 90, of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, 
Dec. 24, 2005.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy H. Smith; 
and son Hurburt Derrill Smith.  She is survived by her sons, Marion, Jerry, 
Gene and Doug Smith; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several 
nieces and nephews. Interment was at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.

Ralph S. Swanson, age 77, of Stockbridge died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005. He 
was born in Helene to the late George Starlin and Hattie Mae Brooks Swanson. 
Mr. Swanson was also preceded in death by his wife Myran Duncan Swanson.
Mr. Swanson is survived by daughters, Betsy (Dave) Stookey, Tyrone; and 
Becky Swanson, Shacklefords, Va; son, Bob (Donna) Swanson, Allen, TX; 
Grandson, Shane (Emily) Stookey, Brandon, MS; sisters, Hazel Carpenter, 
Valdosta and Mary Ruth Evans, Birmingham, Ala.; brothers, Mac Swanson, 
Clayton, Ga., and Don Swanson, Dayton, Ohio.  Interment at Fairview 
Memorial Gardens.

MILLER, CLAYTON LUCIEN
Clayton Lucien Miller, age 73, of Locust Grove was born on Feb. 25, 1932 
in LaSalle, Mich. He died Friday morning, Dec. 30 at 1 a.m. in his 
home.  Mr. Miller is survived by his seven children, Michele Rose, James 
Miller, Patricia and Roger Raven, Debra and Charles Segura, Mike and Maureen 
Miller, Jason Miller and Jeremy and Dominique Miller. He is also survived 
by thirteen grandchildren and a sister Sarah and George Baker. He was 
preceded in death by his father Clayton H. Miller and his mother Mary 
Rose Miller (Brown) and his brother Ellsworth J. Miller.

PASCHALL, MARY LEE STAGGERS
Mrs. Mary Lee Staggers Paschall, age 58, of Hemlock Lane, Locust Grove, 
passed away on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005 at Henry Medical Center.  Mrs. 
Paschall was born on Dec. 4, 1947 in Florida to the late Cherthal Staggers 
and the late Lillie Mae Green Staggers. She was preceded in death by her 
daughter, Doris Hicks. Mrs. Paschall was a member of the Locust Grove 
Pentecostal Church.  Mrs. Paschall is survived by her husband, Kenneth W. 
Paschall; children, Kenneth W. Paschall, Jr. of Locust Grove, and Cathy 
Lynn Holmes of Atlanta; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, 
Lonnie Waites of Valley, Alabama, Barbara Thompson of Hapeville, and Brenda 
Sellers of East Point; brother, John Staggers of Conyers; several nieces 
and nephews.  Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
