WHITE, DONNIS JOAN
Donnis Joan White, 64, from Stockbridge, Ga. passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2005.  She is 
survived by her husband, Joseph L. White; sons, Terry and Mark White; sisters, Maerell 
and Runelle Snow; four grandchildren.  Mrs. White attended Stockbridge Assembly of God.
Interment follows at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs, Ga.

SPANN, SAMANTHA GAITE
Samantha Gaite Spann, 34, of Stockbridge passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2005.  Ms. Spann 
attended Peoples Baptist Church in McDonough.  She is survived by her mother, Susie Manning 
Faulkner; sisters, Candi Davis and April Meeks; brother, Sloan Manning; nephews, Trenton Davis, 
Drew Meeks, and Austin Meeks; niece, Rachel Davis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; friend 
and companion, Johnny Spann.  Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

MILLER, BOYCE ETHERIDGE
Mr. Boyce Etheridge Miller Jr., 82, of McDonough passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at the 
Henry Medical Center.  Mr. Miller was born Feb. 22, 1923, in Macon, Ga. to the late Boyce E. 
Miller Sr. and the late Elizabeth Johnston Miller. He graduated from Lanier High School of Macon, 
served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and was a member of the McDonough Presbyterian 
Church. "Bunny," as he was known to his friends, was an avid RV camper, was a private pilot, and 
enjoyed antique car and airplane restoration.  Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Mathews Miller 
of McDonough; sons and daughters-in-law, Boyce E. Miller III and Elise Miller of Americus and 
Thornton Marthews "Matt" Miller and Sarah Miller of Avondale Estates; daughter, Carolyn Louise 
Miller of Stockbridge; sisters, Doris Hoke, Eugenia Hansen, and Ann Avirett, all of Macon; five 
grandchildren; nieces and nephews.  Interment at Riverside Cemetery in Macon, Ga.

Doris Smith of Jonesboro, born March 13, 1952, to Inez and Willie Smith, passed away at home on 
Wednesday, March 2, 2005.  She leaves her life partner, Joyce Meloni and her sons, Julian and Jim; 
Doris' children, Arturvis and family; sisters, Betty Ford of Cleveland, Ohio and Joann Marshall of 
Atlanta; two brothers, Larry Smith and wife Sharon and Jerry Smith, all of Atlanta; a host of nieces 
and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. 

PARKER, ERNEST EARL
Mr. Ernest Earl Parker Sr., 70, of McDonough, Ga. died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Rockdale 
Medical Center.  Mr. Parker was born Oct. 3, 1934, in Cleveland, Ga. He was known for being a 
loving and giving man. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren, and was a hard-working man 
who could fix anything. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Parker; father, Roy Fred 
Parker; brother, Calvic Kytle Parker; sisters, Ruth Holcomb and Carolyn Crane.  Survivors include 
his children, Betty and Raymond Patterson of Ellenwood, Brenda and Bobby Shortt of McDonough, 
Beth and Mike Leary of Cartersville, and Earl and Melissa Parker of McDonough; mother, Josie Lou 
Palmer of Cleveland; grandchildren, James Patterson, Jared Patterson, Brittany Shortt Denson, and 
Eli Parker; sisters, Barbara and Grant Ensley of Gastonia, N.C., Evelyn and Donnie Fuller of Cleveland, 
and Judy and Jerry Whitlock of Cleveland; brothers, Rudolph and Evelee Palmer of Cleveland, David 
and Carol Palmer of Cleveland, and Danny and Brenda Palmer of Cleveland.  Interment follows in 
Bethany Baptist Church cemetery.

BISHOP, CECIL LILLIAN
Mrs. Cecil Lillian McLain Bishop, 76, of McDonough, Ga. died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Henry 
Medical Center.  Mrs. Bishop was born March 1, 1929, in Kingsland, Ga., daughter of the late Cecil 
Lillian Raines and Arren McLain. She was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, loved 
her family and friends, was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, was very patriotic and proud of her country, 
enjoyed birds, and enjoyed music.  Survivors include her children, Arlene and Brad Newell, Helen 
and Mark Donnelly, and Dennis and Keni Bishop, all of McDonough; six grandchildren, five great-
grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.   Interment follows at Mt. Bethel United Methodist 
Church cemetery.

HARLEY, JOHN F.
Mr. John F. Haney Jr., 82, of Rex passed away Thursday, March 3, 2005.  He was retired from the Navy, 
a retired Aircraft Mechanic, and a member of Jodeco Baptist Church. Surviving are his daughter, Janet 
Johnson of Rex; son, Stuart Haney of Auburn, Ga.; brothers, Felix Haney of Rex, and Ray Haney and 
Lester Haney, both of Cleveland, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.  Interment follows 
at Fort Hill Cemetery in Cleveland.

DICKINSON, WILLIAM "RAY"
William "Ray" Dickinson, 70, of Stockbridge died Thursday, March 3, 2005. Interment at Fairview Memorial 
Gardens in Stockbridge.  A native of Marion County, Ala., Mr. Dickinson, a veteran of the U.S. Marines, 
having served in the Korean Conflict, was a retired industrial operator. He was preceded in death by his 
parents, Hershel and Alpha Graham Dickinson.  Survivors include his wife, Wanda Dickinson of Stockbridge; 
children, Mitchell Dickinson of Stockbridge, Tamara and David Wallace of Jenkinsburg and Laura and Jerry 
Agan of Stockbridge; grandchildren, Jessica Dickinson of Bettendorf, Iowa, Alex Dickinson of Milan, Ill., 
Justin Agan of Stockbridge, Joshua Agan of Stockbridge, Levi Walraven of Dallas, Logan Wallace of

Howard Tom McLean, 62, of Hampton passed away Saturday, March 5, 2005.  Mr. McLean is survived by 
his daughters, Patricia Raxter, Barbara Nunnally and Mandy Maulk; sons, Scot McLean and Tommy 
McLean; grandchildren, Kali, Jennifer and Ryan Nunnally, Mathew and Katie Maulk, Mathew Raxter, 
and Taylor McLean, and expected grandchild, Baby McLean. 

SIKES, SHERRY
Sherry Sikes, ages 46, of McDonough, died March 5, 2005. She was born in Arab, Ala., to the late Ella 
Smith (Baker) and LeRoy Smith. She was a member of Rock Cut Baptist Church and was employed with 
Sun Trust Bank as a bank support specialist.  Sherry Sikes is survived by her husband, Larry Sikes, of 
McDonough; daughter, Teri Lyn Sikes, of McDonough; sisters, Anna Marie and Ronnie Bell, of 
McDonough, Trena Smith, of Fayetteville; brother, Johnny and Robi Smith, of McDonough; and 
several nieces and nephews. Interment will follow at College Park Cemetery.

THACKER, JUANITA GRACE
Mrs. Juanita Grace Carney Thacker, age 87, of McDonough, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2005, at 
the Sacred Journey Hospice. Mrs. Thacker was born Aug. 22, 1917, in Pickens County, the daughter 
of the late Elias Alred Carney and the late Mattie Clemmons Carney. She was preceded in death by 
her husband of 60 years, James Andrew Thacker. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, 
Mary and Jimmy Ellington, of McDonough, and Sara and Joe Sansone, of Alpharetta; sisters, Dean 
Hamby and Wilhelmina "Pud" Peterson, both of Nelson, and Margie Cole, of Marietta; sister-in-law, 
Frances Carney, of Nelson; grandchildren, Eddie Ellington, Jill Palmer, Betsy Decater, Ricky Knowles 
and Joni Howard; and nine great-grandchildren.  Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens 
in Forest Park.

Irby G. Leonard, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, March 5, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Grace Leonard; 
sons, Mr. and Mrs. Bill (Lisa) Leonard, of Gainesville, Mr. and Mrs. Gary (Sharon) Leonard, of Stockbridge; 
brother, Dewitt Leonard; sisters, Dorothy Grant and Eula V. Grant; seven grandchildren; and two 
great-grandchildren.  Interment will be at Sherwood Memorial Park.

LeDOUX, JERRY
Jerry LeDoux, Sr., 76, of Forest Park, Ga. died Sunday, March 6, 2005.

Mr. LeDoux was born Aug. 23, 1928, in New York, N.Y. to the late Herbert and Evelyn LeDoux. He was 
a retired Chemist and an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was also preceded in death by his 
son Paul LeDoux.  Mr. LeDoux, is survived by his sons, Joey (Terri) LeDoux of McDonough and Stephen 
(Lisa) LeDoux of Everett, Wash.; care giver, Joyce Arrington; grandsons Kyle and Chase.  Funeral 
Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.

DAVIS, LINDA CAROL SPARKS
Mrs. Linda Carol Sparks Davis, 58, of McDonough, Ga. died Monday, March 7, 2005, at Henry Medical 
Center.  She was born April 5, 1946, in Spruce Pine, N.C. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, 
grandmother, sister and friend. Linda enjoyed her flower garden, traveling, and her cats. She was a 
member of Bear Creek Baptist Church in Spruce Pine, N.C. and she graduated from the University of 
California at Santa Barbara in 1988, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was preceded in death by 
her father, Newland Sparks.   Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Sanford Davis of McDonough; 
son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Lauren Presnell of Stockbridge; mother, Ella Mae Willis Sparks of 
Spruce Pine, N.C.; sister, Wanda Barksdale of Spruce Pine, N.C.; stepsons, Gregg Davis of Macon, 
Gary Davis of Warner Robins, and Mike Davis of Colorado; grandchildren, Riley and Conner Presnell, 
Christie Davis, Dawn Davis, Nicole Davis, and Melanie Davis.  Interment will follow at Oak City 
Cemetery in Bainbridge, Ga.


UPCHURCH, JOSEPH PAUL
Joseph Paul Upchurch, Jr., 82, of McDonough, Ga. died Monday, March 7, 2005.  He was born in Atlanta, 
Ga. to Joseph Paul and Margaret Juanita Kincaid Upchurch, Sr. Mr. Upchurch was a member of St. James 
Catholic Church, retired from the Atlanta Police Dept., formerly employed with Coca Cola and a Navy 
Veteran of the World War II. He was an avid reader and a collector of many interesting articles. He loved 
all sports, especially football, and most importantly, he was a loving husband for 59 years.   Mr. Upchurch 
is survived by his wife, Elodia; sisters, Elaine Daniel of Cleveland, Ga.,  Shirley Parker of McDonough, 
and Milly Mabros of Stockbridge; brother, Terry Upchurch of Stockbridge; several nieces and nephews.
Entombment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.

SEDLAK, WALTER R.
Mr. Walter R. Sedlak, 66, of McDonough, Ga. died Tuesday, March 8, 2005.
Mr. Sedlak was born Feb. 22, 1939, in Flint, Mich., son of the late Walter and Mary Sedlak. He was also 
preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Allen Sedlak, and daughter, Shelley Marie Sedlak. He served 
his country as a Marine Reservist. He was the devoted husband of Henry County School Teacher Edith 
A. Sedlak, and beloved father to four daughters and a son: Deborah Chambers, Jeff Lyons, Ruth Duncan, 
Joan Ginn, and Melissa Besse; beloved "Papa" to 13 grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Sparks and Elaine 
Polhena.  Funeral services will be Friday, March 11 at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with 
the Rev. Ron Capes officiating.  Interment will be on Saturday, March 12 at 1 p.m. at Haley's Grove 
Cemetery in Crab Orchard, Tenn.

Mrs. Rose Lee Borosh Tessler, 83, of Hall Road, Hampton passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at 
her residence.  Mrs. Tessler was born Sept. 21, 1921, in South Bend, Ind. to the late Stephen Borosh and 
the late Mary Hiner Borosh. She was  preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Lou McLain. Mrs. Tessler 
was a retired Manicurist. She was of the Baptist Faith.  Mrs. Tessler is survived by her daughters and 
son-in-law, Shirley Cummins of Orlando, Fla., Jean Collins of Hampton, Pam and Jackie Hall of Hampton; 
11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren.  Entombment will follow in Camp 
Memorial Mausoleum in Fayetteville.

Linda Mae Hay Copeland, of Jonesboro, passed away March 11, 2005. She was born Jan. 13, 1945 at Emory 
Hospital in Decatur. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Marion Hay, and brother, Jackie 
Hay. She resided in Jonesboro with her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and David Carden. Linda was a 
loving mother and a true friend to everyone who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and 
friends, and her puppies, Katie and Nicky. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Decatur.
Survivors are her daughters, Chuck and Louise Tucker, of Loganville, and David and Bonnie Carden, of 
Jonesboro; brothers, Marty and Ebbie Hay, of Randleman, N.C., Donnie and Dianna Hay, of Stockbridge, 
and Tommy and Kathy Hay, of Conyers; grandsons, Brad and Denise Carden, of Stockbridge, and Stuart 
Tucker, of Loganville; and several nieces and nephews.  Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens. 

RICHARDSON, SANDY EADY
Sandy Eady Richardson, age 56, of Stockbridge, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2005. A native of 
Oregon, Mrs. Richardson worked for Rockdale Medical Center for 26 years. She was preceded in death by 
her father, Thomas Eady.  She is survived by her husband, Jerry Richardson, of Stockbridge; daughters, 
Jeannie R. and Ty Edwards, of McDonough, and Lea R. and Jeff Wilhelm, of Stockbridge; grandchildren, 
Jarod and Hunter Edwards, of McDonough, and Grayson and Kendall Wilhelm, of Stockbridge; sister, 
Cindy Russano, of McDonough; and mother, Hazel Eady, of McDonough.  Interment will follow at Fairview 
Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge. 

TROLLINGER, MARGARET HORNSBY
Mrs. Margaret Hornsby Trollinger, age 89, of Conyers, passed away Friday, March 11, 2005, at the Rockdale 
Medical Center. Mrs. Trollinger was born Jan. 16, 1916, in Fulton County, Ga., to the late William Hulsey 
Hornsby and the late Mary Rompart Hornsby. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Vernon 
Trollinger, in 1986, and by her sister, Ella Mae Herren.  Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, 
Linda and Grantland Rice, of Conyers, Barbara and Eddie Little, of Locust Grove, Ann and Jimmy Balch, of 
Conyers, and Brenda Moran, of Conyers; grandchildren, Melody Ann Rice, Allison Eligh Rice, John Michael 
Rice, Ron Little, Robert Little, Heather Tumlin and Renee Balch; seven great-grandchildren and four great-
great-grandchildren; brother, Clifford Hornsby, of Locust Grove; and sisters, Evelyn Welch, of Fayetteville, 
and Inez Tallent, of Stockbridge.  Interment followed at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. 

TAYLOR, JEWELL COKER
Jewell Coker Taylor, age 88, of Stockbridge, formerly of Ellenwood, died Saturday, march 12, 2005. She was 
born in Marshall County, Ala., to John Marshall and Molly Crawford Thompson Coker. She was an accomplished 
seamstress and quilter. She lived a long and varied life. Mrs. Taylor worked during WWII with Bell Bomber 
as a line worker and supervisor. After the war, she worked with Southern Bell as an operator. But her most 
important job was as a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was the widow of John Harvey 
Taylor after 30 years of marriage. Mrs. Taylor is survived by her children, Neil (Linda) Taylor, of Stockbridge, 
Marshall (Peggy) Taylor, of Eatonton, Cecil (Linda) Taylor, of Oregon, Ohio, Johnease (Milton) Beach, of 
Stockbridge, Jay H. (Terri) Taylor, of Stockbridge, and Betty (Joe) Russo, of New York, N.Y.; brothers, Clarence 
Coker, of Arab, Ala., Ray Coker, of Birmingham, Ala., and Elder Roy Coker, of Sterrett, Ala.; 20 grandchildren 
and 17 great grandchildren. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

MOORE, HOWARD L. "BUDDY"
Mr. Howard L. "Buddy" Moore, 75, of Nesbit, Miss., formerly of McDonough, Ga., died Sunday, March 13, 2005.
He was the son of the late Oscar and Ossie Elliott Moore. Mr. Moore served his country in the U.S. Navy and 
retired from Defense Depot Memphis.  He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wincie Moore of Nesbit, Miss.; 
daughters, Kathy Moore Phillips of Olive Branch, Miss. and Karen Moore of Nesbit, Miss.; sons, Kenneth 
and Michael Moore of Nesbit, Miss.; sisters, Dorothy M. Miller and Peggy M. Patterson of McDonough; 
three grandchildren.  Interment will follow at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.

JOHNSON, ROBERT LEE
Robert Lee Johnson, 82, of Stockbridge passed away Monday, March 14, 2005.  Mr. Johnson is a member of 
Bethel United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 691, and a World War II veteran.  Mr. Johnson is survived 
by his sons, Mr. and Mrs. Richard and Jacqueline Johnson of Jonesboro, and Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Louise 
Johnson of Stockbridge; daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Jane and Billy Duke of Gastonia, N.C. and Mr. and Mrs. 
Linda and Jay Jackson of Trade, Tenn.; brothers, James Johnson and Herschel Johnson of Stockbridge; sister, 
Frances Phillips of Flowery Branch, Ga.; brother-in-law, Carlton and Hazel Adams of Stockbridge; seven 
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.   Interment will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

COLLINS, REBA FRANCES
Reba Frances Collins, 73, of Hampton, Ga. died Sunday, March 13, 2005.  She was born in Rabun County, Ga. 
to Gilbert and Gladys Carter Gabriel. Mrs. Collins was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed 
spending time with her family,  fishing, attending the grandchildren's ball games, and working in the yard. She 
also enjoyed card games with her special friends and helping out at the Hope Christian Girls Home.  Mrs. Collins 
is survived by her husband, Hugh Collins; sons, Jimmy (Donna) Prather of Duck Hill, Miss. and Mike (Pam) 
Ormseth of McDonough; daughter, Donna Ormseth of Atlanta, grandsons Travis and Ethan Ormseth, and 
granddaughter, Lana Ormseth, all of McDonough; sisters, Sandra Mobley of Riverdale, Pat Green of Hampton, 
Betty Driver of Virginia Beach, Va., and Marsha Love of Otto, N.C.  Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.

NUTT, JOAN MADDOX
Mrs. Joan Maddox Nutt, 80, of Luella died Monday, March 14, 2005, at her residence.  She was born Aug. 26, 1924, 
in Henry County to the late Joseph O. Maddox and Mary Emily Barnes Maddox. Mrs. Nutt had an undergraduate 
degree in journalism and a Master's degree in education from the University of Georgia. She began her career in 
advertising, but her true vocation was as a high school counselor. She worked as a counselor at Henry County 
High School for 25 years. Upon her retirement in 1989, she founded the Henry County High School Scholarship 
Foundation, and has continued to be involved in its success. She was a member of a number of civic and 
professional organizations including the Henry County Retired Teacher's Association, Daughters of the 
American Revolution, and the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Nutt was a talented musician, playing the piano 
and composing her own music. She was a member of Luella Baptist Church. She enjoyed  spending time with 
her family on the Nutt farm in Luella.  Survivors include her husband, James Harold Nutt Jr. of Luella; children, 
Janis Nutt and Mitchel Rapp of Raleigh, N.C., Jim and Maria Nutt of Marietta, and John Nutt of Luella; daughter-in-law, 
Pam Nutt of Luella; sister, Sara Goldenberg of Manchester; grandchildren, Patrick Nutt, Jared Nutt, Laurin Nutt, 
Joe Nutt, and Charlotte Nutt; numerous nieces and nephews.   Interment will follow at McDonough City Cemetery.

FLOURNOY, JOE HARPER
Mr. Joe Harper Flournoy, 61, of Grady St., Griffin, passed away Monday, March 14, 2005 at Christian Ministries 
Hospice.  Mr. Flournoy was born in Newnan, Ga. Sept. 5, 1943, to the late James H. Flournoy and the late Bertha 
Banks Flournoy Woodward. Mr. Flournoy was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was retired from Snapper 
lawnmower.  Mr. Flournoy is survived by his daughters, Melissa Roberts of Locust Grove, Tracy L. Gibson of 
Griffin, and Dana Robinson of Newnan; four grandchildren; sister, Anne Smith of  Stockbridge; several nieces 
and nephews.  Interment will follow in Gay City Cemetery.

PIETTE, MURIEL RUTH
Muriel Ruth Piette of Stockbridge died Monday, March 14, 2005, at her residence.  Interment will follow at Sherwood 
Memorial Park.  Survivors include her son, Doug and Judy Piette; sister-in-law, Fran Netterstrom; grandsons, 
Timothy Piette and Joseph Piette; niece, Holly and Sam White; great nephew, Elex White.

MOODY, RONNIE JAY
Ronnie Jay Moody, 56, of 4139 Coatsworth Drive, Rex, Ga. passed away Thursday, March 17, 2005.    Son of James 
Kenneth Moody and Frances L. Moody, he was a loving husband, father, and papa.  Surviving is his mother, 
Frances; his wife of 34 years, Susan W. Moody; sons, Rodney J. and Russell "Bryan" Moody, and daughter-in-law, 
Melissa; granddaughters, Malijah and Emelia. Also surviving are his brothers, Roy and Roger Moody.  

DURBIN, STELLA UNIS
Stella Unis Durbin, 98, of Stockbridge, Ga. died Thursday, March 17, 2005.  Daughter of the late James Henry and 
Mary Hicks Dake, she was a native of Iberia, Mo. Mrs. Durbin was a very talented craftsperson. She worked in 
many mediums including copper, wood, paint, crocheting, knitting and interior decorating. However, her family 
was her first love.  Survivors include daughters Charlotte Ellen Mussell of Stockbridge and Rena Mae Lumry of 
Alpharetta; sons, Paul Allen Durbin of Bakersfield, Calif. and David Ronald Durbin of Dallas, Texas; 25 grandchildren,

BUCHANAN, ROSIE MAE
Mrs. Rosie Mae Patterson Buchanan, 81, of 3982 Anvil Block Road, Ellenwood, Ga. passed away peacefully 
at her home Saturday, March 19, 2005. Interment at Fairview Memorial Gardens.   Mrs. Buchanan 
was first married at age 14 to J.W. Owens, with whom she had a daughter, Dorothy (Dot Baker), and two sons, 
Jerry and Larry. Son, Jerry deceased in 1990. After Mr. Owens passed away in 1955, Rosie married Cal Buchanan, 
Mr. Owens' best childhood friend. Rosie and Cal had one son, Buddy, whose daughter, Candice Wolff, resides 
in Tampa, Fla. Buddy is now deceased. Mrs. Buchanan was a member of Glen Haven Baptist Church, McDonough, Ga., 
and belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 6330 in Jonesboro, Ga.  Mrs. Buchanan is survived by Dorothy 
(Dot Baker) and her husband, Clay Baker, of Stockbridge, Ga., and Larry and his wife, Kathy, of Conyers, Ga.; 
brother, Mr. Vernon Patterson of Woodstock, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great great-
grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

CANNON, DONNIE
Donnie Cannon, age 46, of Locust Grove, died Sunday, March 19, 2005. He was born in Duluth to Alfred Lee and 
Betty Eugenia Moon Cannon. Donnie was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his 
Harley, feeling free in the open outdoors. He enjoyed camping with his family and NASCAR racing. Most of 
all, he was a loving father with a kind and generous spirit with a sense of humor.  Survivors include his children, 
Amanda and Chris; his companion, April Skinner, and her children, Dylan and Lacey Linderman; parents, Betty 
and Alfred Cannon; siblings, Tim (Lillie) Cannon, Ginger (John) Kilman and Christy (Mike) Campbell; and niece 
and nephews, Lindsey and Jake Kilman and Noah Campbell.  Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

HANSON, DON
Mr. Don Hanson, 57, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, in a Griffin Healthcare Facility.  Mr. Hanson was a native of 
Clayton County, but had made his home in Pike County for a number of years. Son of the late George Alvin 
Hanson, he was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hanson was retired as a Machinist 
from the St. Regis Paper Company in New York.  Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in The Georgia Veterans 
Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, Ga.  Survivors include his mother, Nellie Mae Hanson of Conley, Ga.; 
stepson, Andrew Eugene Pride of Stockbridge; sisters, Charlotte Little of Stockbridge and Connie Hope 
Cash of Stockbridge; brothers, Calvin George Hanson of Conley, Ga., Lenard Hanson of Conley, Ga., and 
Todd Wayne Hanson of Panama City, Fla.

CARMICHAEL, ROBERT MITCHELL
Mr. Robert Mitchell Carmichael, age 54, of Locust Grove, died March 20, 2005 at Southern Regional Medical 
Center. He was born in Henry County, the son of Annie Ola Branan Carmichael and the late Boyd Carmichael. 
Robert was a member of Salem Baptist Church, graduated Henry County High School Class of '68, and served 
his country in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing and the beach.  He is survived by his 
wife, Debbie Carmichael, of Locust Grove; children, Robert and Lorie Carmichael Jr., of Woodstock, Kevin 
Carmichael, of Locust Grove, and Kattie Carmichael, of Lawrenceville; mother, Annie Ola Branan Carmichael, 
of McDonough; grandchildren, Jake Booth, Brittany Carmichael and Emma Carmichael; sisters, Carol Ann 
Hassler, of McDonough, Sherry Floyd, of Locust Grove, Angie Rebuelta, of Jackson, Carmel Simpson, of 
McDonough, and Julie Fordham, of McDonough; and sister-in-law, Bennie Carmichael, of Jackson.  Interment 
will be in the McDonough City Cemetery.

HOLLINGSWORTH, DORIS ELIZABETH JEFFARES
Mrs. Doris Elizabeth Jeffares Hollingsworth, 91, of Hampton, Ga. died Monday, March 21, 2005, at Spalding 
Regional Medical Center.  Mrs. Hollingsworth was born Dec. 11, 1913, in Henry County, daughter of the late 
Lenora Bledsoe and Charles Edward Jeffares. She was the oldest member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist 
Church. She enjoyed her family, cooking, the Atlanta Braves, and NASCAR. Her husband, Charles J. 
Hollingsworth Sr., preceded her in death in 1990.  Survivors are her sons and daughters-in-law, Charles J. 
and Annette Hollingsworth of Cornelia and Murray C. and Barbara Hollingsworth of Hampton; granddaughter, 
Tina Pritchard; great-grandchildren, Chad and Tory Hortman; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Marion Beatrice Crumbley, 80, of McDonough, formerly of Newton County, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005.
Mrs. Crumbley was predeceased by her parents, Adolphus Marion Calvert and Essie Beatrice James Calvert, 
and her husband, Jack Albert Crumbley.  Survivors include her daughter, Ms. Polly Blackwell of McDonough; 
stepdaughter, Mr. and Mrs. Plez (Dianne) Dukes of Milner; sister, Mrs. Dot Weldon of Covington; grandchildren, 
Ms. P. Wyn Miller of Warner Robins, Mr. D. Louis Hadden of Macon, Mr. and Mrs. Terry (Gina) Tardy of Milner, 
and Mr. and Mrs. Russell (Shannon) Butler of Griffin; niece, Mr. and Mrs. Nick (Gay) Day of Covington; 
14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  Interment will follow at Carmel Cemetery in Mansfield, Ga. 

DICKSON, MARGARET TWEEDELL
Mrs. Margaret Tweedell Dickson, 97, of McDonough, Ga. died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at her residence.  Mrs. 
Dickson was born March 28, 1907, in DeKalb County, daughter of the late Nancy and William Tweedell. Mrs. 
Dickson was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, and in her earlier years was in the retail business. She 
was a member of McDonough United Methodist Church. Her husband, Gordon Eugene Dickson, preceded 
Mrs. Dickson in death in 1972.  Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Snelling of Tucker, Ga.; grandchildren, 
Sherry Richardson and David Peet; great-grandchildren, Nancy Guillory, Stephanie Peet, Jessicah Peet, Carrie 
Richardson and Tony Richardson; niece, Gladys Perry; nephews, Jack Tweedell, Omar Tweedell and Charles 
Young, and other numerous nieces and nephews outside the area.  Interment will follow in the McDonough 
City Cemetery.

BREWTON, JEWELL ARLENE
Mrs. Jewell Arlene Brewton, 88, of Stockbridge passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2005.  She was a member of 
Union United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by husband Bige Brewton.  She is survived by 
daughter and son-in-law, Obie and John Sapp of Forest Park; sister, Edith Dickerson of Waverly Hall, Ga.; 
sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Jimmy Knight  of Wrightsville, Ga.; sister-in-law, Imogene Mauldin 
of Macon, Ga.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren. She is also survived 
by many nieces and nephews.  Interment follows at Jones Memorial Cemetery.

Rita Szilagyi, 75, of McDonough, Ga. died Wednesday, March 23, 2005.  She was born in Dayton, Ohio to the 
late Odilo and Grace Simmons Breitenstein. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Szilagyi, in 2002, 
and RoseMary Schlaper in 1952, Mary Selelyo in 2001, and JoAnne Goddard in 2005.  Rita Szilagyi is survived 
by her children, Steve Szilagyi of McDonough, Ga., Rick Szilagyi of Hampton, Ga., Diane Cox of Stockbridge, 
Ga., and Cindy Curtis of Oklahoma; brothers, Ray Breitenstein of California and John Breitenstein of Ohio; 
sister, Carol Guenther of Missouri; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

BOYD, HAZEL EVANS
Mrs. Hazel Evans Boyd, born in Rex, Ga. Aug. 4, 1932, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2005.  She is preceded 
in death by her husband, Mr. Bill Boyd.  She is survived by son Mr. Jimmy and Nola Stewart of Monticello, Ga., 
son Mr. Johnny Stewart of Locust Grove, Ga., and daughter, Linda Stewart and friend Linda Steinbock of 
Jonesboro; grandchildren, David, Daniel, Kimberly, Wayne and Mac Stewart; great-grandchildren, Dustin and

CHAMBERS, ESSIE ALLEN
Essie Allen Chambers, 92, of Stockbridge, Ga. died Thursday, March 24, 2005.  She was born in Clayton County, 
Ga. to the late William David and Willie Jane Pair Allen. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and was 
preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Roy Lee Chambers, in 1983, and her oldest grandson, Chuck 
Huie, in 1991.  She is survived by daughters, Rebecca and Robert Huie of Morrow, Ga., Carol Neisent of Jonesboro, 
Ga., and Sandra and Tom McBerry of McDonough, Ga.; sons, Paul and Jenny Chambers of McDonough, Ga., 
James and Esther Chambers of Soldotna, Alaska, and Milton and Mary Lou Chambers of Stockbridge, Ga.; 
17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, eight great great-grandchildren. Interment will follow at Mt. 
Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Martha Thompson of Riverdale, Ga. passed away Friday, March 25, 2005.  She is survived by a husband, 
Charles Thompson of Riverdale, and preceded in death by a son, James Howard Thompson.  She will be buried

RODGERS, CAROLYN
Carolyn Rodgers, 74, of McDonough, Ga. died Friday, March 25, 2005.  She was born May 13, 1930, in Atlanta, 
Ga. to Rufus Zelma and Annie Eudora Covington Rodgers.  Her siblings, Harold Rodgers (Josie) Rodgers, Jean 
Rodgers Bowen, both of McDonough, Nancy (Lowell) Rodgers Belk, Danville, Va., one niece, six nephews 
and several great nieces and nephews survive Ms. Rodgers.  Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church 
Cemetery.

SATTERFIELD, CHARLES DONALD
Charles Donald Satterfield, 74, of Forest Park, Ga. died Saturday, March 26, 2005.   He was born in Cleveland, 
Ga. to Herschel Benjamin and Rachel Viola Skelton Satterfield. Mr. Satterfield was a retired truck driver with 
the Mason Dixon Truck Lines. He served his country in the U.S. Army, where his responsibilities included 
being a driver for the Army Chaplain and driving an ambulance. Mr. Satterfield also enjoyed cutting hair, 
tinkering with automobiles and CB Radios.  Mr. Satterfield is survived by his children, Trudy Charlene Moreland 
of Stone Mountain, Marshall Allan Satterfield of Forest Park, Patricia Lynn Rabideaux, Dennis Brian Satterfield, 
and Anita Louise Newcomer, all of McDonough; mother, Rachel Viola Satterfield of Cleveland, Ga.; sister, 
Valworth Mary Saul of Morrow; brother, Benjamin Kenneth Satterfield of Cleveland, Ga.; nine grandchildren 
and nine great-grandchildren.  Interment will follow at Zion Interdenominational Church in Cleveland, Ga.

Mrs. Hazel M. Truitt Bivins, of Jonesboro, died March 26, 2005, at Portsbridge Hospice. She was a member of 
Rock Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred William Bivins; granddaughter 
Sheila Nichols Blair; and grandsons Joseph Austin Harden Jr. and Brian Hicks.  She is survived by daughters, 
Linda L. and James Hopper, of Hampton, Judy N. and Danny Hitt, of Canton, Martha J. and Joe Harden, of 
Stockbridge, Joan Daniels, of Jonesboro, Barbara A. and Don Hicks, of The Colony, Texas; son, Ray Bivins Sr., 
of Atlanta; sisters, Helen Dobbs, Ruth Hanson, Sandra Wilber and Betty Phillips; brothers, Roy Truitt and 
Johnny Truitt; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Fred Craig Young, 89, of McDonough, Ga. died Monday, March 28, 2005.  He was born in Indiana, and retired 
from the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a meat inspector. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, 
Charlena Young.  Mr. Young is survived by his sons, Larry Max (Ann) Young, Sr. of Locust Grove, Ga. and 
Allen Craig (Katherine) Young of McGaheysville, Va.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

homegoing services for Mr. Clemie Williams will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Mount Carmel 
Baptist Church, 369 Macon St., McDonough, Ga.  Interment Rose Garden.  He is survived by four brothers, 
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Williams, and Mr. and 
Mrs. Andrew Bryant; one sister, Mrs. Willie Mae English; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives 
and friends.  Clemie was a former employee of the city of McDonough. Clemie worked under the administration 
of Mayor Richard Craig and former Mayor Billy Copeland.

Leveda Ann Smith, 53, of Forest Park, Ga., formerly of Polk County, Tenn., died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 
at her residence.  She was a native of Polk County, but had lived in Forest Park for most of her life. She was the 
daughter of Cecil and Pauline Bell Postelle of Liberty, N.C. She was a school bus driver for 15 years for the 
Clayton County, Ga. Board of Education. Her hobbies included playing softball and bowling. She loved her 
family and friends but particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Logan.  Surviving, in addition 
to her parents, are her husband of 38 years, Gary Smith; one daughter, Tisha Smith of Cumming, Ga.; one son, 
Stacy Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Charlyne Kimsey of Liberty; two brothers, Terrell Postelle of Liberty 
and Jimmy Postelle of McCaysville, Ga.; and a grandson, Logan Smith.

STANDRIDGE, EDWARD MADISON
Edward Madison Standridge, 75, of Locust Grove passed away Thursday, March 31, 2005, at his residence.
He was born July 17, 1929, in Fulton County to the late Joseph Daniel Standridge and the late Ollie Bessie 
Turner Standridge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Barbara Couture Standridge in 1993, his 
son, Edward Madison Standridge Jr., in 1991, and by five brothers and one sister. He served his country 
in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, worked for Colonial Bakery Stores for 33 years, and was retired
After 18 years with GBA. He was a member of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church and was an avid 
hunter.  Survivors include his daughters, Sue and Michael Waldrop of Locust Grove, Theresa and Bruce 
Wood of Sodus, N.Y., and Marie and Michael Peeters of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Jeff, Randy and 
Kevin Jackson, Dennis and Christopher Wood, and Brianna Peeters; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, 
Shirley and Joe Cash of Stockbridge, Ophelia and A.C. Davis of Cumming, and Mildred (Mick) Warren 
of Alpharetta; numerous nieces and nephews.  Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

GODWIN, W. FRED
Mr. W. Fred Godwin of Riverdale, Ga. died Thursday, March 31, 2005, at his residence.  He was a retired 
general contractor.  Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park.  Survivors include his wife, Sylvia 
Godwin; daughters, Kathryn Godwin of Roswell and Daphne Brown of Atlanta; grandson, Nichols Brown; 
nieces and nephews.
