PATTERSON, TRAVIS EDWARD (EDDIE), JR.
Travis Edward (Eddie) Patterson Jr., 39, of McDonough died Nov. 1, 2004. He was the grandson 
of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Patterson and Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Branan, and a member of Bethany 
Baptist Church. He is survived by his parents, Travis and Nell Patterson; aunts and uncles, Byron 
and Peggy Patterson, Joe and Jane Patterson, Harold and Kay Branan, Harry and Annelle Branan, 
Trudi and Don Garrard; and several cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, 
Nov. 3, 2004, at Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Al O'Quinn and the Rev. Don Patterson 
officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. 

BENNETT, JONATHAN WAYNE
Mr. Jonathan Wayne Bennett , 36, of Cleveland passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2004.  Funeral 
services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 4 from the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. 
Loyd Martin officiating. Mr. Bennett was employed by Cargill as an electrician and was of the 
Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his father, Johnny Bennett. He is survived by his sons, 
Christopher Storm Bennett and Savien Neal Bennett, both of Flagstaff, Ariz. and Jonathan Scott 
Lee Bennett of Stockbridge; brother, Kenneth Bennett of Stockbridge; mother, Catherine Ojala 
of Stockbridge; grandparents, Paul and Hazel Chastain of Cleveland; fiancée, Jody Lee of 
Stockbridge.

SHEFFIELD, WILLIAM BENJAMIN
William Benjamin Sheffield, 74, of McDonough, Ga. died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004. He was born 
in Chamblee, Ga. to Roy Lee and Ruth Jeannette (Gay) Sheffield. Mr. Sheffield was formerly the 
owner of Sheffield Pharmacy in Atlanta and retired with Moyes Pharmacy in Henry County. He 
was a member of the Salem Baptist Church and an Army Veteran of the Korean conflict. Mr. 
Sheffield enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking and was an avid Bulldog fan, but most important 
to him was family. Survivors include his wife, Grace; children, Laurie and Gary Carpenter of McDonough, 
Lynn and Steve Scott of Locust Grove, Ben and Bobbi Sheffield of McDonough; sister, Betty and 
Foy Johnston of Tucker; six grandchildren, Matt and Emily Fleming, Rachael Fleming, Ashley 
Carpenter, Andy Carpenter, and Caleb Sheffield; one great-grandson, Caden Fleming. Funeral 
services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Statham 
and Honorable Del Buttrill officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

STEELE, LUCILLE MULKEY
Mrs. Lucille Mulkey Steele, 81, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004. Lucille was the daughter of the late 
Jacob Marion Mulkey and the late Edith Estell Truelove Mulkey. She was born May 2, 1923, in 
Fitzgerald, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe W. Steele of Hampton, Ga. Survivors 
include her son, Art Steele; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Jackson Steele; grandsons, Jeff Jones of 
Hampton, Jimmy Jackson Jones, his wife, Rachel, and great-grandchildren, Kateline and Matthew 
Jones all of Hampton; sisters, Alice Dixon of Pennsylvania and Myrtle Nix of Florida; sisters-in-law, 
Helen Greer, Eloise Ridgeway, Marcia Pennington, Ruby Steele, and Shirley Steele; many nieces 
and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille Mulkey Steele will be conducted on Saturday, 
Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. at Berea Christian Church in Hampton. The Reverend Michael Gunnin will officiate. 
Interment will follow in Berea Cemetery.

WIESNESKI, JOSEPH EDWARD
Mr. Joseph Edward Wiesneske, 75, of McDonough passed away Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at the Sacred 
Journey Hospice.  Mr. Wiesneske was born Jan. 26, 1929, in Wausau, Wis., to the late Joseph Andrew 
Wiesneske and the late Martha Kolasinske Wiesneske. He was preceded in death by a sister, Clara 
Panesi, and brothers Lawrence, Donald and Edward Wiesneske. He was a retired carpenter and was 
a member of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church. According to his wishes, Mr. Wiesneske has 
been cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Survivors include his wife, 
Edith Krueger Wiesneske; children, Joel and Emma Wiesneske of Madison, Wis., Dany Ann and Bobby 
Downer of McDonough, Ga., and Martha Lynn and David Herlihy of Leesburg, Va.; nine grandchildren; 
sisters, Sister Sarah Wiesneske of LaCrosse, Wis. and Florence and Chuck Jojade of Wausau, Wis.

NIX, AGNES LAVERNE
Agnes Laverne Nix, of Stockbridge, died Nov. 5, 2004 at Henry Medical Center.  She is survived 
by a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Jimmy Stuckey, Stockbridge; sons Mark Nix, Stockbridge, 
Steve and Dana Nix, Stockbridge; sisters, Katie Pittman, Mary McHugh, Dorothy Cargile; eight 
grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Services are today, Monday, Nov. 8 at 11:30 a.m. at New 
Testament Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Turner officiating. Interment is at Forest Hills 
Memorial Gardens.

Gladys Anderson, 82, of Jonesboro passed away Nov. 8, 2004. Survivors include her husband, 
Charles Anderson of Jonesboro; two sons, Michael and Edward Anderson of Jonesboro; two daughters, 
Beverly Farese of Grayson and Sherry Creel of Lawrenceville; a brother, Bobby Taylor of Forsyth; 
three sisters, Doris Ware of Jonesboro, Marion Basset and Betty Holloway both of Locust Grove; 
six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 
today, Monday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. at Pope Dickson & Son Morrow Chapel with the Rev. Charles Gray 
officiating. The internment will be at Sherwood Memorial Park. 

DONALDSON, EVELYN
Mrs. Evelyn Donaldson, 83, of Stockbridge, Ga. passed away Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at her residence.
Mrs. Donaldson was born Jan. 26, 1918, in Eatonton, Ga. to the late Nathaniel Tolbert and the late Maude 
Dorsey Tolbert. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Laurilla T. Brumbalow, and Cora and Bertha 
Audrey. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Robert William Donaldson, whom 
she met while living at the Georgia Baptist Children's Home in Hapeville, Ga. She was a member of the 
South Bend United Methodist Church and, along with her husband, owned and operated the Donaldson 
School Bus Company in Atlanta.  Funeral services will be conducted today, Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 2:30 
p.m. in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with the Rev. Hugh Smith and Mr. Tony Donaldson officiating. 
Interment will follow in Roseland Cemetery in Atlanta.  Survivors include her children, Bobby and Berry 
Ann Donaldson of Hampton, Raymond and Wilodean Donaldson of Conyers, Jimmy and Sandra Donaldson 
of Stockbridge, Margie Dutton of Franklin, Patricia and Robert Rogers of Florida, Ronnie and Diane 
Donaldson of Stockbridge, and Brenda Evans of Florida; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.

SKELTON, MYRTIS
Myrtis Skelton, 60, of Locust Grove died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004.  She was born in Atlanta, Ga. to the late 
Sarah Myrtis and Sam Gardner and enjoyed riding motorcycles, raising her family, and caring for others. 
She was employed with Paul Davis Restoration and was a bus driver with the Henry County School System.
She is survived by her children; Sherrie Anne Williams of Lavonia, Ga., Thomas Rollin Bostwick of Locust 
Grove, Christopher George and Regina Bostwick of McDonough, Stephanie Denise and Jeff Williams of 
Barnesville, Anthony Davis Gardner of Locust Grove, and Renea Sarah LaFaye Walls of Locust Grove; 
sister, Sammie Billie Gardner of Daytona Beach, Fla.; brothers, Melvin Davis Gardner of Locust Grove and 
Jerry Sparnell Owens of Daytona Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren.  Funeral Services will begin at 11 a.m. 
Friday, Nov. 12, 2004 at the Chapel of Cannon-Cleveland with the Rev. Joey Seabolt officiating. Interment 
will follow at McDonough City Cemetery.

WHITEHEAD, GEORGE L.
Mr. George L. Whitehead, 86, of Stockbridge, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004.  He is survived by his loving 
wife of 58 years, Jacqueline (Jackie) Whitehead of Stockbridge; son, Chet Drake of Biloxi, Miss.; daughter, 
Connie and George Johnson of Rex; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sister, Virgie Guffin of 
Jackson, Ga.; brothers, Hilliard Whitehead of Miami, Fla. and Olin Whitehead of Ft. Smith, Ark.  Funeral 
services will begin at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12 from Bethel United Methodist Church, with Dr. Bob Brown 
officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.  A Bronze Star recipient of World War II, 
Mr. Whitehead retired from the Army Reserves after more than 30 years and was a retired meat cutter from 
Kroger and Fort Gillem. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 691 and was the first recipient of the Bethel 
UMC Men's Club Award. As a resident of Swan Lake, he played Santa Claus at the Community Center 
for many years.

JARVIS, R.W. (B0B)
R. W. (Bob) Jarvis, 71, of Stockbridge, Ga. died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004.  He was born in New Albany, 
Miss. to Robert Lafayette and Mary Lou (Sanford) Jarvis. Mr. Jarvis was a retired Teamsters Truck Driver 
who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at reunions. Bob loved to fish, hunt, travel 
and to read. He was a dedicated worker and enjoyed his time driving. His wife, Hilda Juanita Jarvis, preceded 
him in death.  Survivors include children, Debra (Dave) Harp of Locust Grove, Ga. and Eddie (Susan) Jarvis 
Of Locust Grove; brothers, Morris Jarvis of Tupelo, Miss., James Jarvis of New Albany, Miss. and Curtis 
Jarvis of Cocoa, Fla.; granddaughters, Jessica and Katie Jarvis, both of Locust Grove.  Interment was held 
at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

STEPHENS, FRANCES TURNER
Mrs. Frances Turner Stephens, 94, of McDonough died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at Portsbridge Hospice 
in Conyers.  She was born Aug. 13, 1910, in Henry County, daughter of the late Lavenia Daune George and 
Wade Hampton Turner Sr. Mrs. Stephens was a member of First Christian Church of Decatur, and she had 
been employed by Aetna Insurance Company for more than 20 years. She resided at Wesley Woods Towers 
Retirement Center for 11 years, and then at Silverleaf Personal Care Center of Conyers. Mrs. Stephens was 
preceded in death by her husband, Frank Douglas Stephens, a State Farm Insurance Agent, and brothers, 
John Bassett Turner and Zed Monroe Turner. A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 
at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park with Dr. C.R. Hill officiating.  Survivors include her siblings and their 
spouses, Eugenia (Jean) Turner Price and J.P. Price of McDonough, Wade Hampton Turner Jr. of Naples, 
Fla., Dr. David Allen Turner and Faye Turner of Albany, Ga., and Katherine Sheridan Turner of Maysville, 
Ga.; many nieces and nephews.

MIKELS, JOHN MALCOLM
Mr. John Malcolm Mikels Sr., 92, of Jonesboro died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at Cornerstone Nursing Home.
He was born July 26, 1912, in Bentonville, Ind., son of the late Amanda Ann Brannaman and James Nineva 
Mikels. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of a St. Louis Masonic Lodge and enjoyed fishing and his 
family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Oneta Mikels, in 1999, and a daughter, Jacqueline Rowland, 
in 1997.  Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with 
the Rev. Butch Entrekien officiating.  Survivors include his son, John M. Mikels Jr. of Jonesboro; seven 
grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Ethan Tyler Leon English of Locust Grove died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004.  He is survived by his mother, 
Brandy Michelle English, and sister, Kaitlyn English, both of Locust Grove; grandparents, James and 
Sandra Green of Stockbridge, Martha Jordan of Locust Grove, and David Steward of Griffin; aunts and 
uncles. Funeral service will be Monday, Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. at Horis A. Ward Tara Chapel. Interment will 
follow at Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

WILSON, MOSES LAMAR
Mr. Moses Lamar Wilson of Huntsville, Ala. and formerly of Locust Grove, Ga. died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004.
He was born in Locust Grove, son of the late Bessie Rosser Wilson and John Lamar Wilson. He was a member 
of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, Ala. He graduated from Locust Grove High School 
and North Georgia College, served his country in the U.S. Army, retired with more than 35 years with 
NASA as an aeronautics engineer, and was a member of Huntsville Eastern Star and Masonic Lodge. He 
was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ellen Hood Wilson, on June 26, 2004.  Funeral services will begin 
at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16 at Locust Grove United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Doug Gilreath officiating. 
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Locust
Grove Cemetery.  Survivors include his children, Beth and Troy Todd of Humble, Texas and Lisa and Jeff 
Durham of Dallas, Ga.; granddaughters, Christina Durham and Sarah Durham of Dallas, Ga. and Lauren Durham 
of Stevenson, Ala.; numerous cousins.

Virginia Penney Duran, 81, of McDonough, died Nov. 13, 2004. She was born in Soddy Daisy, Tenn. to 
Matty and Charles E. Smith. She loved her flowers and the outdoors. She is survived by her children, Sandy 
and Jim Wilson, McDonough, Rick and Anna Oglesby, Newnan, Tim and Cyndi Oglesby, Newnan; brothers, 
Coy Smith, Louisville, Ky., Con Smith, Chattanooga, Tenn.; sister, Mildred Jordan, Red Bank, Tenn.; grandchildren, 
David Penney, Brandie Matthews, Jimmy Jennings, Tabatha Wilson, Marty Jennings, Tiffany Wade, Shelli 
Jennings, Kristi Penney, Brent Oglesby, Jason Penney, T.J. Oglesby, Taylor Oglesby; four great-grandchildren

BARTLETT, RALPH MURPHY
Mr. Ralph Murphy Bartlett Sr., 79, of Jenkinsburg, Ga. died Nov. 13, 2004 at Southern Regional Medical Center. 
Mr. Bartlett was born on Feb. 21, 1925 in Fulton County, the son of the late Ellen Virginia Patillo and James 
Homer Bartlett. He enjoyed fishing, bird watching, coin collecting, his cats and being with his loving family.
Mr. Bartlett served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the U.S. Army during the Korean 
War and retired from IBEW Local 613 with 55 plus years.  Mr. Bartlett was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia 
sizemore, and brothers, Wimp Bartlett and T.A. Bartlett.  Survivors include his loving wife, Kay Howell Bartlett 
of Jenkinsburg; children, Buster and Teresa Creel of Jekinsburg, Ray and Gail Ertz of Jackson, Miss., Lynn 
Gouldthread of Jonesboro, Murphy and Rene Bartlett of Locust Grove and Norman and Laura Jones of McDonough; 
brothers, Jake Bartlett of Covington and Jack Bartlett of Conyers; sisters, Hazel Donaldson of Griffin, Clara Dockery 
of Stone Mountain and Carolyn LeFebvre of Panama City, Fla; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren;

COKER, JOE STEPHEN
Mr. Joe Stephen Coker, 53, of Jackson, Ga. passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at Decatur Acute Care.  Mr. Coker 
was born Feb. 14, 1951, in Gwinnett County, Ga. to the late James Eugene Coker and the late Mary Annette Brooks 
Coker. He was preceded in death by a brother, Cramer Coker. He served his country in the U.S. Army, was a truck 
driver for Nestle's, a member of True Christian Fellowship Church, and was an avid bass fisherman.  Funeral services 
will be conducted Thursday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. from True Christian Fellowship Church with Pastor Robert Denson 
Sr. officiating. Mr. Coker will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at 
Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park.  Survivors include his wife, Jackie Coker; children and spouses, Sharon and 
John Cunningham of Stockbridge, Judd and Kimberly Chastain of Locust Grove, and William and Carmen Cowart 
of McDonough; grandchildren, Brad, Brandon, Michael, Brittany, Nicholas, Victoria and Katelyn; brother and 
sister-in-law, James and Missy Coker of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Melissa Smith of McDonough,

ROBINSON, MARIE
Mrs. Marie Robinson of Williamson, Ga. passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2004.  Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death 
by her husband, Mr. Roy Haynes Robinson. Mrs. Robinson retired as a sergeant from the Spalding County Sheriff's 
Department at the age of 70. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Riverdale 446. Mrs. Robinson was also 
a member of the Chief Cornerstone Ministries in Flovilla, Ga. Survivors include her daughters, Roxyann Hayes, Tina 
Taylor, and Sue Head; sons, Robert Brubaker, Gary Brubaker, Michael Brubaker, Patrick Robinson, Roy Boyce, Lewis 
Boyce, and Jerry Boyce; brother, Robert Smith; 36 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild.

RAY, S. DIANE
Mrs. S. Diane Ray of Hampton died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at her residence.  A chapel service will begin at 1 p.m. Monday. 
Nov. 22. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.  Survivors include her husband, Richard Ray; daughter, 
Carla Thomas and Mike of Stockbridge; sister, Laurie Jones and Brian of Smyrna; brother, Rick Lanier of Hampton; 
grandchildren, Lindsey Thomas and Matthew Thomas; nephew, Blake Jones. Mrs. Marjoree Cook Crumbley, 89, of 
Anderson, S.C. and formerly of McDonough passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2004. Mrs. Crumbley was born Oct. 27, 1915, 
in McDonough to the late John Robert Cook and the late Dessie Chafin Cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, 
LeeHugh Crumbley in 1998, and a brother, James Cook. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in 
Decatur, Ga. and was a retired sales associate for Rich's Department Store.  Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, 
Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Pastor Rick Statham officiating. Interment will follow at 
McDonough City Cemetery.  Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janet Crumbley Roe and Dr. Van Roe of 
Anderson, S.C.; granddaughters, Meredith Roe of Anderson and Christi Roe of Arlington, Va.; great-grandson, 
William Lee Driver of Anderson, S.C.

PILGRIM, JUDITH LOUISE CONNER MOSLEY
Mrs. Judith Louise Conner Mosley Pilgrim, 69, of McDonough passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004 at her residence.
She was born May 7, 1935 in Rutherford County, N.C. to the late George Hampton Conner and the late Ora Lee Wilson 
Conner. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Mosley, a son, Roy Mosley and a sister, Edith Armstrong.
She was a member of West Sunny Side Community Church, loved to crochet and knit, and was a talented baker, having 
made a number of wedding cakes for family and friends.  Survivors include her husband of 11 years, Lawrence Pilgrim; 
children and spouses, Sharon and Tony Goddard of Stockbridge, James and Maria Brooks of Stockbridge, Ollen and 
Rhonda Mosley of McDonough, Kent and Sarah Mosley of Ludowici, Ga., Roger Moseley of Middlesberg, Fla., David 
and Becky Pilgrim of Columbia, S.C., Lisa and Timothy Stephens of Jonesboro; daughter-in-law, Pam Moseley of Doctors

Treyvion Dahjé Smith of McDonough died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004.  He was born Aug. 25, 2004, the infant son of 
Latonya Reneá Kirkland and Perry Lee Smith of McDonough. He is also survived by grandmothers Sonia Huff of 
McDonough and Robbie Isham of McDonough; grandfathers, Reginal Kirkland of Macon and Richard Lindsey of 
McDonough; aunts, uncles and cousins. Mrs. Ida Jane Lipham Elliott, 99, of Frankfort, Ky. and formerly of 
Ga. died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004.  She was born Oct. 1, 1905, daughter of the late Sarah Jane Arrington and Henry Ross

Professional Woman's Club, and Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Elliott was preceded in death by her husband, 
Clarence L. Elliott in 1963, and brother, Rex Lipham, in 2002.  Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24 in 
the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the McDonough City 
Cemetery. Survivors include her son, Rudy Davis of Frankfort, Ky.; siblings, Eiland Lipham of LaGrange, Wilma 
Lockridge of Fayetteville, Neva Sligh of Canton, N.C. and Woodfin Lipham of Canton, N.C.; granddaughter, Robyn

BALLARD, ALICE JOSEPHINE
Mrs. Alice Josephine "Jo" Ballard, 76, of Luella, Ga. passed away Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at Sacred Journey Hospice 
in McDonough, Ga.  A life-long resident of Henry County, Jo was born in Hampton, Ga. Feb. 12, 1928, to the late Arthur 
D. Henderson and Oma Stephenson Henderson. She was a graduate of Hampton High School and Bessie Tift College, 
and was a member of the Luella Baptist Church. Mrs. Ballard was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Morris 
Allen "Ted" Ballard in 1997.  Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral 
Home in McDonough, with Pastor Gaines Wise and Bobbie Dean officiating. Interment will follow in the Berea Cemetery 
in Hampton.  Pallbearers are John C. Walters III, Arthur Walters, Jim Strickland, Bob Strickland, Tim Dean and Joe Nutt.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie Ballard Hoffman and Owen "Skip" Hoffman of Luella, Ga.

MONTGOMERY, GREG
Greg Montgomery, 52 of Portsmouth, Va., formerly of Stockbridge, Ga., passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2004.  Mr. 
Montgomery was born in Cookville, Tenn. When he was 6 months old his family moved to Detroit, Mich. Then they 
moved to Georgia in 1956. In 1959 his family moved to Stockbridge, and in 1978 Mr. Montgomery moved to Venice, Fla. 
Greg worked for McCarthy Construction Co. for 23 years. In November of 1981, Greg went to work with McCarthy as a 
laborer, where he worked his way up to project manager. While with McCarthy's he worked at different locations lasting 
from 1 to 3 years, mostly on the eastern side of the United States. He enjoyed riding his Harley, he loved to ride on the 
weekends and at bike rallies with friends. Last year he was able to ride to Sturgis, S.D. for the Big Bike Rally with his wife 
and friends. Greg is predeceased by his father, Charles L. Montgomery, and his sister, Patricia Ann Montgomery. He is 
survived by his wife, Janet M. Montgomery; two daughters, Michele Jean Montgomery and Meadow Ann Montgomery; 
two sons, Gregory Shane Montgomery and Michael David Montgomery, all of Venice, Fla.; mother, Rita Lastigue 
Montgomery of Stockbridge, Ga.; three brothers, Bruce S. and Mary Ellen Montgomery and Gary and Peggy Montgomery 
of Stockbridge, Ga. and Clark Montgomery of Lake Worth, Fla.; three grandchildren, Tyler " T.J." Wright, Alexis Wright,

Charles Harvey Basler Sr. died peacefully Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at home in Stockbridge, Ga., surrounded by loved ones.
Charles was born Sept. 10, 1917, in Petros, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Melba June 
Hart Basler, his parents, Harvey Alexander Basler and Millie Cox Basler of Petros, Tenn., a sister, Thelma Basler Davis of 
Rockmart, Ga., brothers, Archie, of Indiana, J. T., of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Willie Dean of Petros, Tenn.  He is survived by 
children: Brenda June Basler of McDonough, Ga., Charles Harvey Basler, Jr. (Melinda Hewgley) of Knoxville, Tenn., and 
John Blanchard Basler (Sonya Teal) of McDonough, Ga.; grandchildren, Lawrence Herbert Redford, Jr. of Muscogee, Okla., 
Tracey Lee Redford, Muscogee, Okla., Charles Harvey Basler III (Terri Turner) of Hightstown , N.J., Andrew Hayes Basler

his family and friends, is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Babe was of 
the Baptist faith. He had a beautiful voice and took great pleasure in singing in church, on the lake fishing, or in the car 
with the family. Babe grew up in Petros, during the Depression, and worked in the coal mines for a time. He spent many 
years of his adult life in Knoxville, Tenn. where he worked for Kraft Foods. He was transferred to Decatur, Ga. in 1967. He 
retired and spent many years with his family and his bird dogs. Babe will always be remembered as a solid, plain spoken, 
working man who would help anyone in need and could fix anything. His family delights in discussing their assurance of 
his ability to land a 747 if there was a need.

She was born June 24, 1950, in Athens, Ga. Mrs. Simmons was an active member of McDonough Christian Church, she 
was employed by Image Builders Advertising Specialties of McDonough, and was known for always helping others and 
enjoying her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Ray Duffell.  Funeral services will begin at 
1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Leslie officiating. Interment will follow at

Mr. Everett Davis "Ed" Nelson, age 73, of McDonough, Ga., died Saturday, November 27, 2004 at Henry Medical Center.
Mr. Nelson was born Oct. 3, 1931 in Fulton County, the son of the late Gaynell Araine Hales and Otis Nelson.  He graduated 
from Brown High School Class of 1949, served his country in the U.S. Navy on an aircraft carrier in the Korean War, worked 
as a printer for Clark/American Co. He enjoyed gospel music, good humor and being with his family.  A brother, Edward 
Nelson, preceded him in death.  Survivors are his loving wife of 51 years, Pauline Nelson of McDonough; children, Lance 
and Winona Kennedy of Baxley, Ga., Wayne and Anita Beasley of McDonough, Wayne and Anita Beasley of McDonough, 
Rick and Pam Nelson of Gardendale, AL., and Lori Platzer of McDonough; brother, Earl Nelson of McDonough; nine

Alice V. Allen, 88, of McDonough, Ga. died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004.  Mrs. Allen was born June 23, 1916, in McDonough. She 
was a member of the First Baptist Church of McDonough. Survivors include sons, Jerry Allen of Alpharetta and Joe Allen 
of Norcross, Ga.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3 at the
