Jack Cecil White Jr.

ALBANY — Jack "Jackie" Cecil White Jr., 56, of Albany died Tuesday, at Albany 
Health Care following a devastating bout with colon cancer.

The funeral service will be 2 PM, Thursday (today) at Kimbrell-Stern with Dr. 
Bobby Joiner officiating. Interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Jack, the son of Jack Cecil White Sr. and Juanita Swindle White grew up in 
Albany where he graduated from Albany High School. He then attended the 
University of Georgia where he earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in 
Sociology/ Criminology. He taught Sociology at Jacksonville State University in 
Jacksonville, AL, for three years, and then managed a Delinquent Group Home in 
Birmingham, AL, for two years. He then returned to Albany where he worked for 
Dougherty County Family & Children Services in child abuse and custody, for 
seven years. He was accidentally burned in 1986 and received extensive 
reconstruction surgery at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta. In spite of the 
burns and disabilities he continued his life long membership at the Albany 
YMCA, winning many trophies in tennis and racquet ball. Jack is a charter 
member of Central Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Cecil White Sr.; a brother, Keith 
Merrill White; his grandparents, Irvin and Bessie White of Winston Salem, N.C., 
and Rozzie and Ollie Swindle of Ray City, GA.

Survivors include his mother, Juanita Swindle White and a dear aunt, Faye 
Swindle Allen of Albany.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Albany Community Hospice, P.O. Box 
1828, Albany, GA 31702 or to Central Baptist Church, 1618 W. Third Avenue, 
Albany, GA 31707.
