Kimbrell-Stern 2005
Date of Birth: December 26, 1913  
Date of Death: February 03, 2005  

Mrs. Frances Ashe Walker, died after a lengthy illness at Magnolia Manor on 
February 3, 2005. Her Celebration of Life service will be Saturday 2 PM at 
First Presbyterian Church with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Dawes 
Thomson officiating. During her stay at Magnolia Manor she was affectionately 
known as “Ms. Georgia Baptist.” Her nursing diploma and class picture for the 
year 1935 were proudly displayed on the wall in her room. There were occasions 
when she would join a meeting for the Magnolia staff giving her advice 
concerning patients on her wing and enjoying their refreshments. Before the 
years of declining health, she was known for her 35 years of dedication to the 
Kindergarten Department at First Presbyterian Church where she gave diligent 
attention to the teaching of the Catechism to her pupils. She also played a 
supporting role in her late husband’s business, Walker Manufacturing Co., by 
delivering mops to local grocery and hardware merchants. She was an active 
member of the Albany Women’s Club for many years serving in the Education 
Department. 

Survivors include her daughters, Claire Bowles and her husband J. Fred, Camille 
Walker Haynes all of Albany; 4 grandchildren, Dr. Leigh Bowles Hart, Bruce 
William Bowles, Bryan William Haynes, Kelly Haynes Thompson; 6 great 
grandchildren, Jaye Albert, Joshua Albert, Joseph Albert, Sterling Bowles, 
Sadie Bryn Haynes, Ally Grace Thompson, special out of town guest Mrs. Edna 
DuPue of Savannah who was her classmate at Georgia Baptist in the Class of 
1935. The family will receive friends Friday 5 to 7 PM at Kimbrell-Stern. The 
family will be at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. J. Fred Bowles, 1308 River Pointe 
Dr., Albany, 31701.
