Georgia Brendel Stubbs

ALBANY — Georgia Brendel Stubbs, 90, of Albany, died Saturday, January 11, 2003 
at her residence following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held Monday, 2 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern, with interment 
at Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Thomas Downs will officiate.

A native of Augusta, GA, she was born on October 21, 1912. She graduated from 
High School in Douglas, GA, and from the University of Hospital School of 
Nursing in Augusta, GA. She also received her BSN from Peabody College.

Mrs. Stubbs served as a registered nurse in the Navy during World War II. She 
was a member of the Century and the Leadership Clubs of the U.S. Naval Academy. 
Mrs. Stubbs retired from the Georgia State Health Department in Albany where 
she was in charge of 10 counties. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal 
Church and the Mary Martha Circle, the Garden Club, the Area Arts Council and 
did volunteer work for many years. She was always a very generous, caring and 
loving person.

Mrs. Stubbs was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Stubbs, a graduate of 
the U.S. Naval Academy and is survived by a sister, Pearl Dorminy of Bedford, 
TX, many nieces and nephews and Martha Knight who lovingly cared for her for 
more than 10 years.

The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern, Monday, from 1 p.m.-2 p.m.
