Janie A. Smith

ALBANY — Janie A. Smith, 89, of Albany, died Saturday, April 1, 2006 at Palmyra 
Nursing Home.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral 
Directors. Pastors Ron Smith, Stan Glass and Suzie Glass officiating. Interment 
at Crown Hill Cemetery. Fellowship with Family and Friends will be held at 1204 
4th Ave., Life Christian Center International immediately following interment.

Born in Hawkinsville, GA, Mrs. Smith lived in Albany most of her life, where 
she retired after 26 years of Civil Service at the Marine Base. She attended 
Life Christian Center International. She loved her family and six grandchildren 
very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jesse James 
Smith and a son, James Leamon Smith.

Survivors include four sons, Jesse Smith and his wife (Karen Elizabeth) of 
Albany, Jimmy C. Smith of Leesburg, Leonard Smith of Albany, Eugene Smith of 
Savannah; a daughter, Linda Smith Wingate Schenk and her husband (Jerry) of 
Hampton, GA; two brothers, Jim Arthur of Smithville, and Sam Arthur of 
Leesburg; five sisters, Jeanette Arthur Sivret of Albany, Evelyn Arthur Johnson 
of Macon, Marie Arthur, Martha Arthur Bearden, and Mary Arthur Brush, all of 
Albany; and six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday (today) from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Kimbrell-
Stern Funeral Directors.
