John Anthony Silvi

ALBANY — CWO 2 John Anthony Silvi, U.S.M.C. (ret.), 79, of Baconton, GA, passed 
away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 5, 2002.

The funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Teresa's Catholic Church with 
interment in Andersonville National Cemetery with full military honors. The 
Rev. Michael Smith and the Rev. Finbarr Stanton will officiate.

A native of Walpole, Mass., Mr. Silvi lived in Albany and Baconton since 1963. 
He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Camilla. He served 28 
1/2 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of World War II, Korea, 
and Vietnam. He also retired from the city of Albany Building Inspection 
Department. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Loretta Slater.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gilda Silvi of Baconton; three sons, 
Peter Silvi of Baconton, James Silvi of Little Rock, AR, and Anthony Silvi of 
Baconton; three daughters, Rosemarie Sapp of Tucker, Joanne Bryan of Albany and 
Mary Hickman of Cape Maine, NJ; a brother, James Silvi of Eastham, Mass.; three 
sisters, Mary Mintchiello of Blaluvelt, NY, Eva DiAntonio of Walpole, Mass., 
and Irma Weaver of Tybee Island; and 15 grandchildren.

The prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at Kimbrell-Stern with visitation to 
follow until 8:30 p.m.
