Ruby Duke Jones Higgins

  ALBANY — Ruby Duke Jones Higgins,  85, of Atlanta  died
Wednesday, January 4, 2006, in Dunwoody.

  Mrs. Higgins was born on January 24, 1920, in Marion
County, GA. She was the daughter of Mary Davis  Duke and
Joseph Z. Duke Sr. She grew up in Buena Vista  and  moved  to
Albany in 1938. Ruby married David Lee Jones in 1940. After
David's death in 1943, Ruby continued to live in Albany until she
married Kenneth J. Higgins Sr. in 1946. As a military wife, she trav-
eled extensively in this country and overseas. She returned to
the Atlanta area in 1964 where she began her real estate career.
She continued her pleasure travel at every opportunity until the
end.

   Mrs. Higgins is survived by her daughter, Lee J. Moore and her
husband James, Frances Dell Massey and her husband, Steve;a son, Kenneth J. 
Higgins Jr.; a sister,  Mary  Jane  King;  seven grandchildren, Erin Graner, 
Ryan Moore,  Brandy  Massey,Joy Higgins,Colin Higgins,  Brian
McMahon, Scott McMahon; and four great-grandchildren.

  Ruby was preceded in death by her husbands, David Lee
Jones and Kenneth J. Higgins Sr.;  a  daughter,  Lynda Jones
McMahon;  sisters,  Elizabeth Miller,  Loretta "Cherry" Maxwell
and Billie Lindsey; brothers, Joseph Z. Duke Jr., James C.
Duke and David E. Duke.

  Mrs. Higgins' funeral service will be held at 4 PM Saturday at
Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors with Rev. Nathan Godley officiat-
ing. Interment will follow in Crown Hill  Cemetery.  The  family  will
receive friends Friday at Kimbrell Stern from 5 PM until 7 PM.
